  1. http://www.wireviews.com/reviews/live_reviews/0404_uk_aberdeen_pf.html On a typically damp and dreary night in the Granite City, Wire's pulsating performance was greeted with painful indifference from the chin-stroking zombies who turned up to watch them rip through most of Send and Read and Burn. Unbelievably, Wire sound more exciting and fresh now than in their critical heyday of the late '70s. Shame no-one told the knuckle-draggers of the North-East. A slightly harsh review me thinks ? Or was everyone there, including myself a chin stroking zombie ? Dave
  2. Anyone going to see the blues guy tonight @ Drummonds. He sounds quite interesting on his website blurb - old style delta blues etc http://www.kentduchaine.com/bio.html
  3. Well at least Trojan have reduced the price of their reggae boxsets to seven squids recently... On another note I hear that Jah Wobble is releasing a best of box set sson, Dave
  4. Has there ever been a Guided By Voices covers band ? OR has any Scottish / local band done any GBV covers ?
  5. Greek electronica special on Radio 1 Tis damn good so far ! enjoy, Dave
  6. Try the compilations Le Flow & Le Flow 2. French HH is nice and different and normally pretty decent as well !
  7. What about the first Suicidal Tendancies album ? Or is that not strictly thrash...
  8. I wish the GBVoices boxsets were this cheap ! Micah C. Harding reports: Low, the brooding forefathers and foremothers of the aptly titled "slowcore" movement, are set to release a box set of rarities, outtakes, demos, and B-sides, culled from the span of their decade-long career. Titled A Lifetime of Temporary Relief, the box includes one DVD and three audio discs that collect material from Alan Sparhawk and Mimi Parker's early 1993 bedroom tapes through the band's most recent vinyl-only tracks. Consisting of a just-insane 53 songs, the collection provides an extensive spectrum on the life of Low. The exclusive DVD contains a montage of short documentaries, 11 Low videos (we seriously didn't know they even had one), and live footage accompanied by a 32-page booklet with notes, provided by the band, detailing the origins of several songs. Released through their Chairkickers label, the box is scheduled for release this July 20th. The album doesn't currently have a title. In fact, no other information is available, other than the knowledge that it is indeed forthcoming, which for the time will just have to be good enough. We tried.
  9. Knitting on stage is the new rock n roll thing to do... Is this a folk music tradition ? A interesting and great evening of folk and mild rock drones, PJ Harvey vocals, humour and lovely alt county/ made up your own sub genre, Dave
  10. The V Femmes are great - a sort of folkier version of Devo.
  11. Is Wild Man Fisher the ultimate in low fi alt folk ? Dave http://allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&uid=UIDMISS70402050837051228&sql=Byt5uak1k5m3v
  12. The guy from Tiso's (nee One Up)- aye I just guessed his name. English, skinny, like cycling, mid to late 40s. Congrats on the 25 th of trading ! What would Adeen do without One Up - be as badly served for music as Dundee / Inverness are !
  13. I totally agree but these are also quite decent IMHO... John Coltrane - A love supreme Manuel Gottsching - E2 E4 Mogwai - My Father My King Tortoise - Djed PiL - Theme (well tis almost 10 mins) Goldie - Timeless Faust - Faust Tapes (techincally a track ??) Ganger also have some decent long tracks
  14. I only remember One Up on Diamond Street. Twas small, cold, dark and full of boxes on the floor of random sub sub genres. The staff were scary then, especially the one who was called "necro" and used to person the t shirt section. I cant remember them having many Cds in that shop ? BTW I see that of the original One Up owners Raymond (?) now works in Tiso's. When I worked in Halford on Union St. he was always getting bits for his bike. Dave PS James & Mike of the Cavern both like Kraftwerk so they should always have a shity or two in stock...
  15. Try EBay for Kwerk t shirts, Ebay & Kwerk
  16. Ah that explains the smell today then...
  17. I see One Up have closed their downstairs section to get it "done up". Any major changes planned ? I hope they keep the second hand section sections (CD & vinyl) alive as well as increasing their reggae vinyl & general vinyl selection... Dave
