  1. There's a lot of stuff in the news that happens abroad, does that mean it has fuck all to do with us? Paris Hilton is simply highlighting how ridiculous the cult of the celebrity is and it's the same over here too, although why you're comparing Paris Hilton to Terry Wogan I have no idea. Why should the legal system make excuses for someones behaviour purely because of how recognisable her face is? How many times have Kate Moss or any of her lot been caught with drugs and only sent to rehab instead of gaol? Poor little Paris might get beaten up in prison or made into someone's bitch, so they've hand selected a cellmate for her. What the fuck is that? What has she ever done to deserve special treatment? It basically comes down to how much money you have, and if that is affecting the way criminals are punished then there's a serious problem.
  2. The Tunnels does rather nice grub too, might want to check if there's a gig on in the first tunnel though because it gets noisy. Sharon's hit jackpot though, Chi is probably your safest bet. Plus if it's lovely and sunny you can sit outside.
  3. ha, shows how observant I am Now you mention it I'm having vague recollections of someone mentioning a Kiss night at the tree.

    Neighbours!

God. Dillon's a total pussy. I think I'm *gasp* getting bored of Neighbours. There's too much double crossing and folk with personal vendettas. Where did Lynne go by the way? Did she ever come back from her honeymoon after getting jilted?
  5. Don't they play in Drummonds heaps though? Spinal Pap only did a one off show I thought. Don't know about all the members, one is still here (in The Needles no less) and Chris is heading to Canada soon, so I'd imagine that would be a no. Someone was asking after a Kiss tribute band a while ago, which would be awesome, but I don't think there is such a thing...yet.
  6. Ack, I went in blind and it's not too bad actually. 3.50 for a glass of wine and 4.75 for some rather lovely cocktails. Plus free munchies. Hurrah!
  7. Off to the burlesque tonight but suspect I may run out of funds half way through the night, how much is it for a glass of wine or gin and tonic there?
  8. They sound amazing! Very cute t-shirts too, which is very important Go for it.
  9. Morrisons had mint choc chedder over christmas, it was repulsive.
  10. Ah...cheese. Applewood smoked chedder is fucking amazing, Morrisons do a West County Brie which is really nice with a thin rind, very creamy. Stilton or feta crumbled into salads is a winner. The Lemon Tree has a cheese board on the menu at the moment which I've been sampling, and there's a gorgeous brie-like number called Muckle Wummel or something which we got from Mellis's Cheese Shop on Rosemount. Very nice, quite tangy. For all that I pretend to be a cheese snob, I still love Primula with ham on toast

    Neighbours!

Left a video diary type thing. Gaaaaaaaaaaaay. I was quite amused when the ambulance was driving away with him, the only person who looked vaguely upset was Rachel's new squeeze, he was blubbing away and everyone else looked quite nonplussed.
  12. Regardless of whether you want to fuck her or not, I still kinda admire the girl for having the courage to get her kit off in public. She knows she's fat, everyone knows she's fat. She's not promoting obesity in any way. You can't 'promote' obesity in the same way you can promote super skinnyness, it's just not aesthetically pleasing. No one is going to look at Beth Ditto and decide to pile on the pounds because they want to look like her, but they might be struck by her confidence in herself, and that's a different matter. I'd much rather see more people of her size being confident in themselves than I would dozens of cookie cut out girls wanting to slim down just because it's cool. It's really not about her actual figure, it's about her being comfortable in her own skin, that's ace. More people should be like that.
  13. false, I don't love her in any way. Although 'Complicated' will forever remind me of my uber crush when I was in 6th year. TPBM - Thinks honey chilli chicken from Chi (or any chinese restaurant/takeaway) is the epitome of yummyness.
  14. Ok, I've been moaning about this place for years and the time has come to actually do something about it. I want to move out of Aberdeen, probably to the predictable Edinburgh or Glasgow type area, but I'm not really sure what should be my first step. If you've moved into (or out of) Aberdeen, how did you arrange somewhere to live? If you moved into university halls I don't wanna know because I'm not going to be doing that. Does anyone have any links that might be helpful?
  15. Yay! I love that Jackie Treehorn keep getting more gigs up here. Fucking great band.
  16. I flat out refused to pay 90 for my boyfriend and I to go to a shitty venue with no atmosphere to eat bland food served by sulking teens and listen to a rich bitch play music which I know I'll hate. Fucking rip off. I know it's all part of the graduating experience but I'd rather meet all my mates in town and spend the money in the Moorings instead. Which is what I think I'll be doing.
  17. false, it's 11.10pm and I don't get a lunch break when I'm working because I tend to work in a cafe over lunch. TPBM knows a home made remedy for a dry tickly cough. Which doesn't involve alcohol unless it's gin or cheap shit white wine. *cough*splutter*hack*
  18. It's only temporary though, no point in wasting even more money on a long lasting structure when there's a good few art galleries/centres going free as it is. One of my friends has a film which I believe is being shown in aforementioned boxy thing. regardless, she was inside it at the weekend and said it was one of the most appallingly designed art spaces she'd ever seen, which is pretty damning considering it was designed by architects. And I really hope they don't move it onto Aberdeen Uni campus. King's is stricken with enough shoddy architecture as it is.

    Your current read?

How does a history book get outdated? Surely by definition history books are about the past. Yes, I'm being pedantic I read the most amazing book called 'You're an animal, Viskovitz!' by Alessandro Boffa which about this guy who reincarnates as a different animal each chapter. It's so surreal and so very very French. And I've rediscovered 'I Capture The Castle' by Dodie Smith after reading a trashy-ish chick lit called 'The Lost Art of Keeping Secrets'
  20. The UV lights...my boyfriend dancing in a white shirt...the horror, the horror Fucking ace night, I love how the turnout is still really good and it's like all the best and most interesting people from Moshulu/Bassment are there. Thank you for playing Jack off Jill Adam, you're the only person in Aberdeen who will
  21. I've been awake since 6.30am finishing off this book and oh my! The ending was amazing, I can only assume that the wee report at the end means that the Japanese guys did believe him, but from the start I did suspect that what turned out to be the second story, was the truth that whole time. It's a beautiful story, my only complaint would be that it's all a little too tidy. His parents don't give him any grief about the religious aspect, the animals as humans allegory was a bit cliched.

    Your current read?

I went to the central library and came out with a stack of books, the first non academic ones I've read in ages. Bliss. Just finished The Abortionists Daughter by Elizabeth Hyde, which was OK but lacking in any real substance. I picked up The Life of Pi as well, so I think that'll be next.
  23. Love it. I wish I'd lived in 50s America. And yes, Grease plays a bit part in that
  24. Yeah, it's unfortunate it's on a Friday because there's not going to be anywhere venue wise in town that's going to want to risk a private hire incase they lose cash. How about asking at your old school? Dunno what your connections are like there anymore, but it'll be in the holidays and there's at least one huge autitorium (I can't spell ) I've been in.
