  1. Ooo, pretty. Sadly 'no smokers, no students' probably cuts out all of ab-mus
  2. Metarie

    Your current read?

Shockingly enough, seeing as I'm now an english graduate, I'm only just reading Jane Erye for the first time. And I love it, which isn't a huge surprise really.
  3. One Up have a vinyl section don't they? Downstairs in the 2nd hand bit.
  4. They are however looking for part time staff. Bit of a contradiction all in all.
  5. I think there's a difference between folk who watch wrestling because it's amusing and brainless entertainment and the people who watch it thinking it's real. It's not really my kinda thing, but my other half is into it and I can see the appeal: it's kinda fun to laze about with a beer and a smoke and watch fully grown men in spandex beat the crap outta each other.
  6. my boyfriend's parents regularly get badgers in their back garden, although that's in Cruden Bay. My dad's garden gets all manner of bird life and squirrel action, near Duthie Park.
  7. couldn't have happened to a better person, she's quite simply the most genuine and lovely people you'll ever meet, not least one of the most attractive. And she makes spiffing crepes too. No end to her talents, I tells ya.
  8. Really? I'll have a look tomorrow. Although I kind of hope they're not the same otherwise I might get bored of them. And really fat Get random DVDs you can't get over here (or can't get it reasonably priced), stuff like Invader Zim or That's My Bush.
  9. Peanut butter M&Ms. Tiny little chocolate orgasms.
  10. Presidents of the United States. They were lovely chaps, hung around after the gig and chatted to the staff.
  11. job's a good 'un chaps, fucking awesome. When's the Ep coming out?
  12. Possibly, but then it depends if folk would travel to see them or not. I just want the chance to 'accidently' walk in on Danko's dressing room There's a bit of a gap in the brochure and you can see the time period from Andy leaving and Isla starting is a bit bare, but it's looking good so far. Got Alabama 3 back for a start and they were immense last time they played.
  13. Aye, Andy Shearer has been replaced. As for suggestions...many are long shots, but a gal can dream Danko Jones Corb Lund Emilie Autumn Robyn Buckcherry The Donnas Rasputina Dresden Dolls Aimee Mann Brendan Benson Psapp The Research
  14. The live DVD was pretty cheap in Fopp last time I looked. Yay! Can't wait for more Boosh, I was worried they'd get stuck on two series like Spaced.
  15. I'm a couple of tracks into the new White Stripes Album and I'm back in love with them. It's fucking weird, hurrah!
  16. exams are marked in a different way to essays though, as most people do better in work they can prepare for properly like course work/essay/presentation,the marking is stricter than it is for exams. They take into consideration the time you have to plan and write the paper so the grade is based on content and knowledge and understanding rather than structure etc. Most people find that they get better results in exams than they expected for that reason, although it's an accurate evaluation of your knowledge of a subject, it's not always the best way of testing people.
  17. Exactly, I'm sick of people almost making a sympathetic 'aww, poor you' face when they hear what my degree is in. Fuck you, I've always loved literature, I like finding out the motives behind why it was written and learning more ways of interpreting text. It may not be the most exciting subject in the world but I like it and I'm pretty good at it. There's no point in studying something just because you think you should. Incidentally...I've noticed it's mostly people who haven't been to uni (or who have been and have dropped out) who make a big stink about rubbishing people with degrees or saying how worthless a degree is...my ex in particular slags off 'organised education' after dropping out of uni a few years ago. Some folk do well in a university or college environment, some don't. I'm equally chuffed about my degree results as I am about becoming a duty manager at work, it makes no difference. I've achieved something I'm proud of, so I'd appreciate people not pissing all over it. And that's not aimed at anyone here particularly, it's just in general.
  18. Neither, and I never said I good at spelling, just fairly good at critical analysis. Is there a correct spelling of 'whoot'? I prefer the way it looks with a 'h' And a huge hell no to being a teacher or librarian, the majority of graduates get into a career which has nothing to do with their degree and I plan to be one of them.
  19. Got mine today and I'm so fucking chuffed I thought others might like to gloat too . What did you get and what was it for? 2:1 in Honors English. Whoot!
  20. Aye, we saw that. There were regular cries of 'Aaahh! Look at his FACE!' when the boys saw someone they knew from school. But I reckon they beef up the accent to make it extra authentic for English audiences. And Bear Grylls is just a poor man's Ray Mears. Mearsy would kick his ass in a survival face off.
  21. You can put posters up in The Lemon Tree too sometimes. Probably depends on if it's likely to take business away from the place though. Fopp sometimes have posters up too, again depends on what it's advertising I suppose
  22. my blokey's flatmate used to be a fisherman so they sit and watch it quite a lot. Apparently being a fisherman in the North Sea is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world which is pretty impressive/freaksome. But yeah, it's a lot more interesting than you'd think. Good way to kill half and hour or so.
  23. Apparently haloumi is made for the milk of three different animals - sheep, goat and cow. A mutant cheese, if you will. As far as fruity cheesy action goes, nothing beats cheese and apple sliced together. Possibly the best combination of food ever. And relatively healthy too
