Alan Cynic
I know there are a few old posters out there who remember One-Up as part of "Happy Trails", then up Rosemount (and on George St), before the Diamond Street place. Good ol' Raymond and Fred!

flossie suvara
I remember One Up when it was on Rosemount - went in to buy some heavy metal badges aged about 11 (I think I might have got a whtesnake one) - I was absolutely terrified by both the clientele and the staff, and glad my mum and dad were waiting in the car outside.Flossie
Alan Cynic
Understandable, Flossie! They were a scary bunch (and I might well have been one of the clientele!).

Fast Caz
yeah that will most likely be true, ah well i shall be grateful for what i am capable of getting my hands on.
framheim
hehe, yea that's the name. the second hand stock varies considerably depending how skint students are. so if you check it a few weeks before the student loans come in it's more likely to have better stock. the cavern has a very good range of t-shirts for the more discerning record buying public, whereas we stock t-shirts that sell well. it'd be great if we could stock more specialist shirts but we need demand for them first.hopefully the lower floor will be less tinky once it reopens, though not sure how long that will last. it'll probably seem a bit brighter though, given that the floor won't be grey anymore. The guy from Tiso's (nee One Up)- aye I just guessed his name. English, skinny, like cycling, mid to late 40s.Congrats on the 25 th of trading ! What would Adeen do without One Up - be as badly served for music as Dundee / Inverness are !

Guest allsystemsfail
I discovered One-Up way back in 1980, then on Rosemount Viaduct. Bought my very first anarcho releases there. Went in two/three times a week. It was just a way better store back then, I guess still a more alternative space. Since then, it's become way more mainstream. Saw these changes happen I think around 15 years ago.I haven't actually bought anything from One-Up in maybe 13/14 years. Buy everything via mail from distros/labels. Raymond? I ain't seen him in years.
Alan Cynic
Dave...are you sure about the 25 years.........I was going into One-Up in the early 70s......surely it's 30 years (at least). I also have fond memories of One-Up five-a-sides at Seaton Park on Sundays, where we all kicked lumps out of each other, and occasionally made contact with the ball! I've tried to think back.... maybe it was before it was called One-Up,....when the shop was in the back of "Happy Trails", so I'm probably wrong._________________________________________________________________________________Kitchen Cynics.....................................what, ME, ref?????........................................ Guest allsystemsfail
Alan- What was Happy Trails out of interest ? And when did One Up move to Diamond St ? DaveHappy Trails was a clothing store.Actually, as I remember it, One-Up was not once a part of Happy Trails. What existed in the back area of HT was a quite different record store all together. I remember occasionally buying a couple of records from this store, and this after I'd discovered One-Up - still then on Rosemount Viaduct.Moving to Diamond Street? I'm guessing around 1987.
