Jeanette
Where do you buy your clothes is pretty much what the question is asking...
Inkster
1. What gigs have you been to recently? As I Lay Daying, Flood Of Red, My Minds Weapon2. What gigs have you coming up?The Beverly Secret, Anemic3. How do you hear about gigs?I promote them, look on abeerdeen-music.com, mailshots, magazines, myspace4. What do you think of the local music scene? (general, dont go over board!)The local music scene is thriving incertain areas and suffering in others. There are too many screamo bands going about, as well as too many indie bands. There aren't enough quality bands in Aberdeen.Outside tours that come to Aberdeen have picked up in recent times and long may it continue, although again...a bigger diversity in certain areas would be beneficial.5. Where do you socialise/ hang out?Bassment, Triple Kirks, Exodus, Moshulu - stalkers apply here LOL6. If it is a pub, what did you do before you were old enough?Hung out at the local school and drank with my mates7. Do you like Aberdeen?Yes and no.It depends on what parts of Aberdeen you're talking about.I'm bored of going out in Aberdeen to the same places all the time, so in that sense no.Other bits are good.8. Do you think Aberdeen needs another alt. Club, pub or venue?Yes, although the one we do have is sorely underused, hence why it's only open from tea time now.9. Do you feel the current ones need improved?Again, this is another complicated one cos they have their good and their bad sides.Bassment toilets are rank and they should be ashamed of them. The lighting in certain areas is appawling.Apart from that, I quite enjoy the place.10. Where do you buy your music from?Online or from One-Up unless HMV or Zavvi have sales on, which is quite alot really but I try to support the local independant store if I can11. Where do you shop for clothes?Online or Primark.Don't like Topman/Burton in general and the alt. shops are generally too expensive.Just as cheap jumping on a megabus and buying the same hoodie or whatever from Glasgow

Even if you are talking about what has been 'tagged' as screamo (i.e. Underoath, Flood of Red and their countless clones) there isn't that many. And the only decent indie band i can think of are Copy Haho... they are really decnt though.I do agree on the fact that there isn't enough outright quality... a band that should always be a foot-in on a bill in a certain genre. Guest idol_wild
1. What gigs have you been to recently? Errors, Explosions in the Sky, Drift Collective showcase (x2), The Twilight Sad, Copy Haho, Enablers.2. What gigs have you coming up? Wintersleep, Frightened Rabbit, Copy Haho, Kitchen Cynics, Magik Markers, The Low Lows, Meursault.3. How do you hear about gigs? This website, The Skinny, The Fly, Myspace, Band websites, Music News.4. What do you think of the local music scene? (general, don’t go over board!) It's frustrating. I think there are some class acts in this city but they just seem to show no ambition at all. On the flip side, there are as many terrible acts who do nothing original or worthwhile.5. Where do you socialise/ hang out? That depends. I don't earn a huge amount of money, so hanging in my flat occurs quite frequently. Aside from that, Under the Hammer (though I hate it), Prince of Wales, Snafu, The Tunnels, Drummonds, Cellar 35.6. If it is a pub, what did you do before you were old enough? I played football or went to pool houses. And I never became a Championship Manager genius for no reason! 7. Do you like Aberdeen? Some aspects of it, very much so.8. Do you think Aberdeen needs another alt. Club, pub or venue? We could do with a well-run venue the same size and reputation as The Lemon Tree again. May I just emphasise the well-run aspect.9. Do you feel the current ones need improved? Undoubtedly, Moshulu needs refurbishment and air freshener.10. Where do you buy your music from? One Up or emusic.com11. Where do you shop for clothes? Charity shops, Primark, Peacocks.
all_his_engines
Hi Catherine,Some good questions, I'll give it a go.1. What gigs have you been to recently?Explosions in the Sky (Glasgow), Drift Collective Showcase (Aberdeen), The Mars Volta (Glasgow) & Chris T-T (Edinburgh)2. What gigs have you coming up?Meursault (Aberdeen), Black Mountain (Glasgow), Mia Riddle (Aberdeen), Acoustic Ladyland (Aberdeen) & Spock's Beard (Glasgow)3. How do you hear about gigs? This website, bands' websites, through people who know people & gig posters4. What do you think of the local music scene?Aberdeen has a lot of artists making interesting and varied music, but a lot of good gigs are totally empty. Evidently, the biggest problem with this scene is not a lack of decent music, but a lack of gig attendence. Whether this is due to good old-fashioned consumer apathy or shit promotion is the key question, although there are very few promoters in this city who seem to consistently make enough of an effort.5. Where do you socialise/ hang out?Friend's houses, mostly. But sometimes pubs like Under the Hammer & The Bassment.6. If it is a pub, what did you do before you were old enough?Friend's houses or in the park.7. Do you like Aberdeen?I think Aberdeen gets a pretty harsh press most of the time, and usually from people who live here! I'm usually the one who'll stick up for the place in a conversation, because it's definitely got its good points. But take a short trip to Glasgow or Edinburgh and it becomes apparent that Aberdeen is woefully lacking in amenities.8. Do you think Aberdeen needs another alt. Club, pub or venue?Definitely something to fill the gap left by the Lemon Tree (although as we all know it's soon to reopen). Basically, somewhere that has a suitable atmosphere for jazz and folk gigs and is bigger than the Blue Lamp. Plus, another few cafes that put on live music (a la Kilau & Musa) would be nice.9. Do you feel the current ones need to be improved?Improvements to sound systems all round would be great. Moshulu could be a fantastic venue if it had a bit of a clean and a tidy up. But we've a few good venues in this town, something else that's not often appreciated.10. Where do you buy your music from?Generally either from Amazon or HMV (only because I get discount there). Occaisionally One-Up.11. Where do you shop for clothes? Not sure about the relevance of this question. I generally go to either Primark or Marks & Spencers. A lot of my t-shirts come from gigs, though.
KimyReizeger
I thought buying clothes from Primark was unethical?
RF Scott
I can't believe I'm filling this out, but I'm really bored.1. What gigs have you been to recently?I can't remember the last show I went to that I wasn't playing at, Errors at Adventures Close to Home I think.2. What gigs have you coming up?Silver Jews and Times New Viking.3. How do you hear about gigs?INTERNETS4. What do you think of the local music scene? (general, don’t go over board!)TOO VAGUE! What does the word 'scene' even mean? There's no Dischord-esque community here, that's for sure. There aren't many local bands I like, either.5. Where do you socialise/ hang out?Caves6. If it is a pub, what did you do before you were old enough?PUBZ and PARTIEZ7. Do you like Aberdeen?POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE8. Do you think Aberdeen needs another alt. Club, pub or venue?NO9. Do you feel the current ones need improved?NOBODY'S PERFECT SO YEAAAAAH!10. Where do you buy your music from?INTERNETS11. Where do you shop for clothes?INTERNETS AND SHOPS

The Subtle Arts
11. Where do you shop for clothes? Not sure about the relevance of this question. There. A question like that feels to me it's being asked all the wrong reasons about music, I can understand questions like "where do you hang out" obviously to music it's unrelevant but it gives the lass an idea of wheres popular for music locally etc etc.
Scootray
To be fair, where you hang out is just the same as where you shop. Certain groups of people will hang out somewhere just like a certain demographic will shop in a certain place. Music is all about the fashion too. Captain America
Also she might be trying to find out if you buy your tshirts at gigs as well? I certainly buy a fair few tshirts at gigs during a year.

catherine
where you buy your clothes has relevance to my project.=]my project is music based but it does not focus enterially on music and gigs.hence why i ask about pubs and clubs as well. ive just done a whole dissertation on tattoos and piercings within the alternative music culture. and many people would say "whats body modifications got to do with music??"but its all linked. image, identity, subculture, use of space, etc
Inkster
' date=' post: 463304"']for sure, just thought i'd discuss. not having a go.It's cool. I had a long-winded answer mad eup but deleted and went with that haha.On the point of the clothes - How could I forget the countless amount of tees and hoodies I've bought from gigs. That is my staple wardrobe practically.
thehunger
1. What gigs have you been to recently? I don't really go to many gigs...I've been to a couple Toy gigs in Aberdeen but that's it.2.
