folk jam etiquette???

would it be a bad move to turn up at one of those random folk jams in the blue lamp/globe etc. with a synth that did loads of really cool bag pipe and fiddle sounds and start jamming along? I'd imagine youd get frowned upon and eventually told to sling your hook but should you?

please discuss.

Really cool bagpipe sounds? Surely that is an oxymoron?

Bagpiping? ooh err missus

I bought a set of bagpipes but it is like wrestling with an octopus whilst blowing till my cheeks ache . The solution has been found by my friend Cyberpiper -he plays electric pipes and I play electric drums - MySpace.com - cyberpiper - - Electronica / Folk / Trance - www.myspace.com/cyberpiper .

I intend to do similar stuff in Scotland with conventional pipes and Flats drums - more fun than a Bodran or Cajon and less hassle to carry around than normal drumkits .

I once saw about twenty people leave an open mic in Glasgow after a jaw-dropping, completely-out-of-context, twenty minute musical tirade from a particularly cruel and oblivious young man. Keep the pipes for weddings and rugby matches please!
