framheim Posted October 2, 2006 Report Share Posted October 2, 2006 the whole episodes been a bit pathetic. i am truly a floating voter for the next election and have voted ssp before but i won't be voting ssp now. heard nothing but horror stories from those who've been members during this saga and the desperation of the news of the world is frankly disgusting. i don't doubt that both sides exaggerated the facts in court but i just don't see why tommy sheridan being into a lot of sex is relevant to a socialist scotland.i can see this dragging on till the elections now with what remains of the ssp desperately sniping at solidarity and putting more people off socialist politics. anyone know if there's going to be ssp or solidarity candidates in aberdeen?this election could be quite interesting if the socialists get their acts together. there's a real chance that parties who have independence as part of their mandate will get the largest percentage of votes across the country. snp, greens, ssp and solidarity taken as one group can easily beat any of the other parties if they get good campaigns behind them. while i'm undecided about the benefits of an independent scotland it does make things interesting. If Tommy Sheridan was holding up his hands and admitting most of the allegations were true but some were fabricated, then that might assuage some people, but to instead accuse most MSPs from his former party (and now his best man) of lying is just ridiculous. The attempt to say that the video tape is 'stitched together' is just ludicrous. Of course the News of the World would want vindication over someone who has (allegedly) lied to the back teeth - and gotten others to perjure themselves for him - to claim damages from them.
