  1. I've got a few cdr's. dunno if anyone would be interested. Masamune ep- it's good. Dedalus- i think it's live at the Lemon Tree, pretty cool and Politik- I think it's a demo, a cdr anyway- not the split single thing. Man they've fair turned into something special with Copy ha ho. I think I have spike the bush fae Spike Pile Driver. and the Electric Tibet that came out on fat hippy. The stacc set cdr as well. It's fucking great. I should go have a look. I also have the Maple CD. Dunno why, cause I still can't stand the guys voice!
  2. Craig joined the Hexx. I'm hoping for a finders fee.
  3. N-E-A-T...S-K-I..MIN. Could you do ride, the verve and swervedriver.? just sayin...
  4. I suppose given hindsight I didn't really give Reaper much of a chance- I downloaded it in a fug of hubris, I read an interview in the wonderful tape-op* mag about Jason Lowenstien using it and just thought it would be great. I don't use many tracks really, all I need is a stereo mix and some drop in's and twiddles, but what's the phrase?- counter intuitive- that's how I found reaper at the time. Don't let it put you off though- loads of serious proper recordists use it. SM57's are good, I prefer my AKG dynamic though. It's horses for courses. It's about the room, I found that out pretty quick- cap. Toms sounds bad pretty much all the time, my bedrooms sound bad all the time- but my living room sounds great. Big room- lots of echo, but in a good way. Room is first, desk/preamps second, mic's third and DAW is way back there.... I just bought a ribbon mic and a cheap AKG condenser, so I'll see how that goes. that's my tuppence. Good luck though min. *tape-op is free, good articles, and some quality gear porn.
  5. I got a USB interface for my laptop recently, mainly because the line-in seemed to operate only in mono, which was of no use to me. It was around 20 buck off e-bay, and works fine- really good solution for saving time buggering about with sound cards and that- especially as I move between various computers and operating systems. Works good in windows and Linux. I dump to Audacity or n-track. Tried Reaper but didnae like it. It only does the two mono tracks though, might not be the option you are looking for. Personally I use the PC stage just to make a final stereo wav. - from old school analogue tape- I just find recording multitrack on computers far to time consuming for a part time hobbyist like me. I realise this reply probably won't help- I'm just feeling chatty.
  6. hey you two- have you got websites for your audio skills? Do you work/own studios?.....
  7. I first met him when he just started posting on here, trying to get a foothold- making moves. He was bright, ambitious and full of promise. A total young gun. Two years later he was different, he'd been crowned a Mod. and something was gone- he was jaded, world weary and cynical- I caught his eye across the bar in Espionage and he looked like a different man. His eyes were dead, like Ryan Gosling in the closing moments of Ides of March. Power is a terrible thing, but what a price to pay.......
  8. I'm going to start a page. If I get five hundred likes I'll break out my gimp mask and take a "homosexual sex rules" pill and give him a wild 35 seconds under a grotty 60watt bulb in my cellar. I probably won't, but somebody should. Just for the fun of it obviously.
  9. vintage vibe is probably what I meant. Nice to hear they have many uses. Probably going to get one. cheers guys, you made much more sense than I did.
  10. yup. I pulled them, to much hassle from the daily mail. two cd's of shite lurking there still @ http://davidjamesfarquhar.bandcamp.com/......
  11. is Dookie the one with basket case and longview on it? Somebody played that to me on the spook in a car once, I was fucking well into Screaming Trees and Unsane at the time so I might have missed the genius of it.
  12. I threw a huff. The songs got pulled, right after my android phone died! they wernae up to much anyhow. Back to pen and paper for me!
  13. I'm a big Albini fan, and Tom Waits fan, and all the rest. I have a fair few mic's in my collection- currently gathering dust due to a maniac two year old. I'm interested in these mic's- anybody used them- and do they give you that sweaty claustrophobic sound for vox? My current mic's need a lot of fiddling to get a good grotty sound- usually with overdrive and amping, will ribbon mic's save me time and make me happy and warm inside...?
  14. I think they are good tunes. I hate my laptop though...any chance of packaging them up as a bandcamp bundle? then I can toot them to me ipod and listen while I play golf with Frank Gill-Feather at the weekend.
  15. when I hit thirty I suddenly started to get my jacket pockets snagged in door/cupboard handles. The downward spiral.
  16. Cheers min, have downloaded that. Going to soundtrack my waddle to work the morn with it. Liked the first track- so looking forward to hearing it. Might even stick it over the speakers if it's good!
  17. I think that's why I like Megadeth, they are just sooo silly. The solo's get a bit daft, but Rust in Peace is a great LP. Formative for me musically, pretty much up there with Nevermind and Goo.
  18. cheers min. I have no idea about delta blues. I like Leadbelly, but jist cause of Nirvana. Totally clueless about the blues. I saw a neat documentary on BBC4 about it- that wis cool. Jon Spencer wasnae in it though. for shame.
  19. I quite like Green Day, I'm nae a massive a fan- I have one CD by them, the greatest hits...it's nae bad. Work in progress though, I'll hopefully erase all trace of Green Day in later versions... Mostly I do heaps of versions as I get more words and ideas- so it will probably transform a bit. thanks, though, for the feedback.
  20. Sonic Youth as well here. Spiritualized also cause a major case of musical tunnel vision- a spaceman binge can last the guts of a month.
  21. Dunno, Question Time is on, and I've got torrents running- so I've kinda lost interest....
  22. That whole thing about Shutterspeed made me vomit. It was like a bunch of 6th year guys taking the piss out of the 1st year band. Bits of it were funny, mostly it was a piley-on by Donuts. I realise it was meant to be funny, but some of it was just a bit arsey....That's Aberdeen-Music though!
  23. been here since circa '92 mostly, as a student twice then working. From Glass by Huntly. Aberdeen is okay like, but now I have a bairn I'm drawn towards moving back out to the rural- quality of life and all that...plus I miss the bestiality side of things.
  24. Still looking really, just looking into getting a booze licence etc- it's possible to get places central that don't need it but fuck it- there is no way I would go to a place that is BYOB on a regular basis. I looked at a place quite close to the Beach today, it was a no-no space wise. I'm researching...lot to learn.
  25. man you are a rude cunt.
