  3. I think this guys attitude to searching and experimenting put a few of us on the same pathJ
  4. arrrggghhh sorry joe but i had to go for deportees. They stand out for me locally for song writing.
  5. sorry yes their is a raised platfrom stairs in middle that some play on? I'm going to take a look as you need dance space for the oxbow lake dance like your dad band!
  6. olly richards is the man Captian Tom's good argument was that if its been going for about a year and its still going, then gotta be good!! I believe quite a few bands (not just solo artists) Apparently good crowd. So thought we'd give it a try. p.s. Mark, come say hello. you may have at moorings but i was canned!
  7. Friday 30th march Slains castle with support. Never played there before should be a craic Inverness hoots in April Edinburgh in may etc etc One a month to conincide with the full moon!!
  8. I just think it's quite limited with what the city offers - The Oxbow Lake Band for example, are a breath of fresh air as I've not heard anything like that before from Aberdeen Thanks very much for the feedback. Very humbling. We're maybe a breath of fresh air because we avoid scenes (well we dont have much of a choice living in the shire) and catergories/genre shite. But yeah Brian's doing something very clever evolving and widening the musical horizons at the moorings. It seems to be working from last nights audience. But it wasn't just the same folk you always see in the moorings but bringing in different folk. To mix with the friendly folk already there. Now if that's a scene (?) bring it on!
  9. Yep fine, we'll Take them all. I just need to order batteries for my loud hailer....
  10. i'm big on the penny farthings but never mad eit round the world so be up to offer tunes. new album tracks are very professional sounding but none about cycling, oh except the track "downhilling on the benn" www.theoxbowlake.co.uk
  11. oh and who the feck' is the silver bridle? brilliant, yes I says brilliant track....
  12. The oxbow lake band's tune can be heard ere' me luveelies! itunes snippets:- http://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/away-from-the-mainstream/id474449434?ign-mpt=uo%3D4 or bandcamp for a full listen http://theoxbowlake.bandcamp.com/releases
  13. The silver bridle's from the end of the harvest is one of the most beautiful tunes ive ever heard. I've only seen the likes of meursault create this much beauty (salt part2). Who are they/him and if this is their own song do they need a roadie!?
  14. I appreciate Alan violently divides opinion:- “the cat can’t swing” (jazz weekly), “That jumper should simply not be seen on stage” (new york vogue), “NE musical legend spellbinds ecstatic audience with children’s xylophone” (P&J), “If I hear one more tune about a dead Edwardian person or grave yard I’m going to kill meself” Oxbow gazette, etc. but I love his 2 tunes especially the ‘dark’ cynics one. On first listening I’d have to also go for Slyder divider (name?) and joe’s (new version??) track December (much improved vocal, great song). But all very good. Seas starry, pelicans too. Cheers for great covers/design.
  15. I think the free jazz community of the be should rise up and protect one of their own!
  16. Recently they were playing joy division can't remember album but I have original in vinyl I was well made up.
  17. Thanks for putting this out guys. And thanks for positive response. If it in any ways raises awareness about such land issues I'll be having a grand mid winter. Now the inevitable push (?) for the album away from the mainstream.. Once I get rid of this Tom waits throat I'll pop some into one up. On iTunes etc already.
  18. er... sorry about that outburst. I realise now that estrella the hip hop crew are not the one's you're talkiing about, please again accept my deepest apology for any confusion caused.
