  1. i didn't know everyone was up his arse, but that's probably because i don't pay attention to the music press (and nor do i really care). anyway, the klavierwerke EP is so good. looking forward to it.
  2. JAMES BLAKE! brilliant. this is two days after my last exam.
  3. i seriously couldn't care less about what apparent learned columnists say about records.
  4. ^^ yeah that is so good! i've been waking up to Welcome to My Temple for weeks. great record.
  5. Oyster - Oyster [Fukk God 037] : Free Download & Streaming : Internet Archive some of the best drone i've heard this year (even if it is from 2005!). project by gregg kowalsky (kranky records). waves of long sustained chords, ahoy.
  6. well, they're all really good. they're my favourite of the year. they don't have to be yours, too. i like games.
  7. yellow swans - going places altar eagle - mechanical gardens atlas - beauty and the blues infinite body - carve out the face of my god future islands - in evening air games - that we can play emeralds - does it look like i'm here? erik k skodvin - erik k skodvin jefre cantu-ledesma - love is a stream mark mcguire - living with yourself the sight below - it all falls apart how to dress well - love remains
  8. what is this like? i listened to a sample on dusted, but feel like i'd really need to absorb the whole thing. she was playing in glasgow today, but i couldn't make it.
  9. record of the year for me, i think. outstanding piece of work. just picked up mount kimbie, james blake, alter eagle and games. new baths record is pretty decent, too. so is the erik k skodvin (deaf center / svarte greiner) record. oh, and the mark mcguire record is a worth a listen - not as brain melting as emeralds (more looped guitar, i suppose), but still ace. still need to hear the new keith fullerton whitman. good year for music.
  10. he was decent supporting max richter in glasgow, and decent with SotL in aberdeen. slightly less impressive if you've heard steve reich's electric counterpoint, but yeah. it is a shame i'm/we're not organised enough because i would have thrown the improvised ethereal drone hat into the ring for supporting. but yeah - i will probably be along.
  11. have you heard Floating Japanese Oof! Gardens Of The 21st Century?
  12. landings by richard skelton is so so good. very sad, though. apparently he really threw himself into his work after his wife passed away. anyway, great record. i could listen to green withins brook on repeat for pretty much ever. type have been doing great lately. did you (free tibet/ross) hear the black to comm record? very good indeed! not sure about the new on (chauveau, hess, fennesz) record though. maybe i need to digest it a bit more. i'll throw my hat in the ring and say that carve out the face of my god by infinite body is easily one of my favourite releases of the year. definitely check it out if you can.
  13. I saw that show in London, but probably isn't sensible for me. Definitely going to the Glasgow one, though! I can't say for certain about their presence and conducting, but probably not. I think Nyman is there - maybe why they're doing a 'conversation with...'. I might be wrong.
  14. Glasgow's Concert Halls | Minimal Is anyone going to any of the events in October? We've booked tickets for the seperate Reich and Glass events on the Saturday, and then the Reich/Glass closer on the Sunday. I'm so excited! To hear Different Trains live will be pretty incredible, especially After the War. So should Counterpoints the next day. I think the Glass piece is something new, which should be nice! They're also doing Music for 18 Musicians, but that isn't till February. Anyway - thought i'd stick this here because i only found out by pure chance that these events were taking place (there is also a Brian Eno event, and Michael Nyman), so it would be easy for people to miss out!
  15. deathpodal sound really good. some of it does sound a bit lapsus linguae. i'm not sure what i think about them having noam chomsky in their influences though.
  16. forgot to ask you about this show! think i'm defo going! as for GUK - not really sure i'd want to see them live. the new stuff is terrible, and the idea of seeing 40somethings play four minute mile stuff is a bit weird.
  17. not necessarily a pet hate, but this torcher parade isn't half annoying. i was trying to do work this afternoon and for the bulk of it all i could hear was HONK HONK HONK.
  18. yesterday was easily the best so far! matt smith is ace. got to be a bit to do with the weeping angels though - the episode with them and carey mulligan a few series ago was brilliant as well.
  19. i listened to it earlier and it seems solid. its up for pre-order on amazon for about 7. boxer is one of my favourite albums.
  20. just spent a good 30 minutes listening to hope is important via you tube because i have absolutely no idea where the CD is.
  21. when you say blair's museum, you don't mean this place do you? ; Blairs Museum - Visit Us looks kinda different to the pictures. also, where is the rob roy caravan park? pretty cliche place to go get photos now i guess, but still i've never been and fancy a wander..., it is pretty safe, right?
  22. i dunno man, seems to have a bit more thread to it than just a publicity stunt..., guess all we can do is see. i read something similar was put on the cards for a visiting israeli politician who subsequently canceled her trip to the UK.
  23. richard dawkins and christopher hitchens are attempting to put the pope on trail when he comes to the UK for crimes against humanity. Richard Dawkins calls for Pope to be put on trial | World news | The Guardian
