  1. also; Refused Are Still Fucking Dead :Heavy Blog Is Heavy Refused are NOT reforming despite what NME says, members have NEW band! | BUDDYHEAD
  2. this. apart from the being on tour part. might depend on the $$$ and support too, though.
  3. ok, i would hardly call this arguing the toss though, and i see absolutely no reason why people can't have an open and transparent conversation about Afghanistan (unless your argument doesn't go past "NO WAR, MAN!", in which case there is little point). it isn't even a political debate, much more a pragmatic strategic debate, if you will. i'm not looking to change your mind either - i'm honestly interested in why you think Afghanistan has nothing to do with us, and why those involved should be tried for war crimes. what were/are the alternatives etc...? can we expect statesmen to keep to the same moral code as citizens when it comes to foreign policy? if you're going to make pretty 'big' statements like that you should at least be able to back it up - so as at least you don't come across as someone else throwing around anti-war rhetoric with little substance - if you see my point! if only to prompt a discussion i will give my albeit short two cents. Afghanistan was a just war at its conception but the military strategy has since lost its way. the bulk of attacks (not just against the west) were planned and orchestrated from the tribal regions of Afghanistan and Pakistan - the former being run by the taliban sunni militant group etc etc. but there can't be a conventional victory against the taliban, something that many people don't seem to understand. the biggest mistake in the conflict was ignoring pakistan - this is where the hub of the taliban have move too (specifically Quetta); this is where the the bulk of the high profile arrests have taken place (coincidence?); this is where the culture of extremism has continued to destabilise the region and thus Afghanistan. the only appropriate next step is three pronged - a staged military withdrawal coupled with the arming and training of those anti-taliban groups (that can do the nasty stuff western armies can't get away with), an attempt to remove those non-ideological taliban members from the equation via diplomatic measures (money/food/infrastructure) and more international pressure of pakistan. but whateva'. i can't imagine the situation we'd be in now if we hadn't gone into Afghanistan, but please feel free to throw in what you think.
  4. groups like this de-legitimise the foundations of the anti-fascist movement because their fight in an ideological one. it is left Vs. right, not right Vs. wrong.
  5. also - SWP?! aw come on! they managed to almost de-legitimise the anti-war movement.
  6. mmhmmm. 100% spot on? really? i'm afraid it isn't as black and white as that. the cry "war crimes!" is completely inappropriate too ...but whatever.
  7. aww, the BNP website is great. "As a mother of a son due to fight in Afghanistan very soon, I am writing to say Please bring them home. Afghanistan has nothing to do with us. And, please someone tell me why it is that my son is fighting on behalf of a War Criminal? When that War Criminal leading our country should be on trial."
  8. the only decent thing to come out of this is we know have the contact information for susan ross. that website will also be a good go-to page for information for meetings/rallies that they're holding. talking for the far right, does anyone know if the national front are still active here? hmmm, not quite! the best way is to get worked up about them, but logically - organised, legitimate opposition is the best medicine.
  9. gig was pretty good! Islet were trying a little too hard though, i think - they had some really ace parts that sounded a little like lapsus linguae, but the majority was a bit cack tbh. i especially didn't appreciate having a tambourine waved in my face, or being pushed over by a another member while dancing around the crowd. i don't know who you are, get away from me. the second band....what? a pub cock rock band that forgot their bassist and a very strange addition to the bill. we actually went for a coffee and only had to witness two songs and that was enough. los camp were on fire! really good fun. they looked like they were having a really good time as well (and the crowd). hopefully that means they'll be back 'sometime'. the most crowd surfing i've seen in a while too. maybe not the best idea for that girl in boots to have a go though... anyway, you me dancing was HUGE. happy days!
  10. i would really like to see CW again. 'spesh at cellar. this is the evening of my dissertation hand in though; so i will either be in bed crying/at this.
  11. still the best thing i've seen this month.
  12. washer is a mint song. i like the album. don't have much time for the 'spawns'.
  13. i've always wanted to sing in a hardcore band...but not one like a day to remember. hmmm.
  14. probably not, to be honest! i'm not sure either of us have time to figure out how to do it live in a way that goes past just hitting 'play'. we'll see though.
  15. sure, yeah - i'll let you know when we're 100% happy with a couple and let you know.
  16. another dude and i have been doing fennesz/mountains/helios type stuff. we've got 4/5 tracks done so far. thinking about getting a few more done and sending something off to 12K in the new year.
  17. cannae remember what that sounds like really! it was decent, but its been so long. i also never got the LP, remember! post office...sigh.
  18. not angular hardcore, but i really want to do some balls out really easy and cheesy euro style skreamo, ya know? predictable chord progressions. dun dun dun-dun-dun-dun-dun-de-de-de-de-de-de-de, etc etc. like old raein but waaay more cheesy and less italian. like having to stop to cry and wipe tears on your sleeve and beat the floor.
  19. cannae really do top album lists but here are ten in a sort of order with my kinda faves at the top...the ones i like a little less at the bottom, ken. ben frost - by the throat teenage cool kids - foreign lands pretend - bones in the soil, rust in the oil why? - eskimo snow city centre s/t punch - s/t the field yesterday and today real estate - s/t bygones - by- the dan deacon and mount eerie albums were pretty good too but i couldn't decide between them (ive not listened to them in months).
  20. dead mountain mouth by genghis tron is p.r.e.t.t.y.r.a.d.
