  1. I got my name from Street Fighter II. :O
  2. I second Huw's Protest The Hero comparison. Curious to hear what else you's come out with (especially if it goes more mathy).
  3. I couldn't believe Hadouken! were in there. Of *all* the albums released this year, that gets a mention.
  4. I did too. Didn't love it or owt but it'll still be a gooooood gig.

YAS MINs of the year Meeting a lovely girl, playing Dundee with awesome bands and being in excellent company. Biggest Dissapointment - Both Dons Cup Semi-Finals, The Twilight Sad live, Poison The Well being cancelled, missing Stapleton, lack of regular band activities at the moment, Greg Haines and his sandpit. Looking forward to 2009 I really don't know. I'm sure it'll be a hoot.
  6. I really like track 7, Not At Home. Gonna try and get his other album(s) soon.
  7. I bought this at the weekend. It really is lovely.
  8. Aye, that's the one. I'd recommend it.
  9. Saw "Changeling" yesterday. It was awesome.
  10. If he ever comes anywhere near Aberdeen it'd make my year.
  11. I thought this was rotten, a massive disappointment. Out of interest, when did vue introduce watching folk with binoculars for the first twenty minutes of films? I take it it's to cut down on "knock-off nigels", etc?
  12. Jacob's Stories has had to pull out. Stuart can't afford to come up and his brother is seriously ill. There's talk of re-scheduling for February(ish) but it'll all depend on his brother's health. Any word and I'll post on here. As a result, the whole gig will be postponed until stuff is worked out. My sincerest apologies to anyone looking forward to, or that was going to attend this gig. I'll also take this opportunity to thank everyone that's PM'd with advice/offers etc. You're all heroes. Apologies once again.
  13. Westhill, Aberdeen's "best kept secret". I think you could be right though. I don't know how much the Ashdale costs or owt, but it would be supported by the school and you'd probably get quite a few kids just "coz there's a gig on". Only problem would be the size of the place - quite hard to not make it appear empty, etc. With regards the North East thing, myself, Mr. Calum and Mr. Huw went a wee jaunt to Arbroath last year. The local community centre had organised the gig and seemed relatively well behaved and there was a good turnout. It did at times have a "school disco" feel and there was strict curfew and something over "noise outwith the venue" - kids being lairy etc, but on the whole it was a pretty good setup. I'm not sure whether these gigs are regular or what, but from what it looked like, they aimed for Friday or Saturday nights and folk appeared whether they were genuinely interested in the acts or not. I'm not saying this is the way forward or anything, just thought it was relevant and was evidence of something similar working.
  14. I'm looking forward to seeing them live but would agree with the album. It's too long and you do find parts where you think, "just played that part a couple of songs ago" etc. The opening two songs are great and the least widdley one (track 6 I think, and its more relaxed widdley-ness) is super. I do like them a fair bit but I'm finding it hard to persist with the rest of the album. The new Grails and Desalvo albums were bought around the same time and I'm still giving them a hefty listen... Lindsay, fire me a text or something when the edition with your article is out. Any word on supports for the gig? (I know it's yonks away)
  15. Your eyebrows are where you're going wrong. Pink ones plz.
  16. Confirmation of the bar happening, doors at 8pm and 5 ticket price*. *only way this'll change is if Avast! reply with a thumbs up* Awesome!
  17. Mr. Phil (idol_wild) was saying the Carmelite Hotel is close by? Depending on if another act is added, he could well be on for 40 mins or something (I was just going to see what he fancied). Could always nip over for a wee bit!
