  1. This is the same as me. Just sits too much in the middle - pleasant but doesn't grab me or owt. I'll persist though. Seen them live, thought it was alright.
  2. I'm pretty sure I had a Queen tune in my Advanced Higher. Maybe. Funny some of the stuff they include.
  3. Hahaha, yeah, its been like that for a wee while *concern*. He's a bit rubbish at messaging back and stuff, but we're getting there. I was going to message him this week, I'll include that.
  4. I just didn't fancy charging a small fortune but Avast! would be freakin' awesome in there - christmas lights etc!! I'll mull it over and speak to the necessary peeps too. Worst comes to worst, I'm happy to try putting them on next year or something with yourself or that.
  5. Hahaha, I don't even know if you can have full "electric" bands in Peacocks, can you? I suppose I could ask for an "acoustic set" or something.....I ain't made of money Mr. Warden!
  6. I never even considered her....:O I'll give her a listen. Messaged Lamplighter about it but unfortunately he's starting a new job that week in Edinburgh or something and can't make it up. Really appreciate the posse gathering! Hopefully it'll be a good evening. *crosses fingers*
  7. I believe there will be! I'm going to track down Monika that works there at some point this week just to confirm this and a few other things. From what she's mentioned it'll be there. Might be a local support added, depends on funds/time etc. Really nice to see folk enthusiastic about it already.
  8. Rather pleased to announce: Jacob's Stories + My Kappa Roots at Peacock Visual Arts! Thursday 27th November. Doors should be 8pm and it'll be 5 - I'll confirm this ASAP. Poster will be up tonight or tomorrow. The good stuff: MySpace.com - Jacob’s Stories - UK - Acousmatic / Tape music / Concrete / Melodramatic Popular Song - www.myspace.com/jacobsstoriesband - seen supporting City and Colour. Stuart Lee brings keyboards, beats and a whole lot of awesome! MySpace.com - My Kappa Roots - Glasgow, UK - Other - www.myspace.com/mykapparootsmusic - returns to Aberdeen after his September gig at Tunnels. A chap called Pablo. Tunes galore! Yeah!
  9. Spoke to the guy at work. He says there's nowt in town - no gigs and very little happening. Granite MCs or whatever they went by, "went down like a sinking ship", apparently.
  10. o_OYou're rubbish. There's a chap at work who "produces" rap stuff, both local and from around the UK. He's been promising me a CD-R of his stuff for ages. I'll ask him about anything Aberdeen-based this weekend.
  11. I honestly don't know the situation with Albini and payment and stuff. The poker forum thread might have something. Which band in Glasgow was that? Alex Newport is super good. The MMISL album sounds freakin' awesome.
  12. The only other thing under the Sun Kil Moon name apart from "April", is "Tiny Cities" - an entire album of Modest Mouse covers. If you buy the vinyl then you'll get a separate 12" with the live bootleg thing Maxi's talking about, I think. The Red House Painters stuff is awesome (highly recommend "Old Ramon"). Other albums are just under "Mark Kozelek". From what I've heard, his AC/DC covers album is very good. The guy writes like a trooper - heaps of albums! Also worth tracking down is his book, "Nights of Passed Over". Worth the price for the Live album you get with it!
  13. Peeps might be interested in this: The 2+2 Forum Archives: Ask a music scene micro celebrity Its Steve Albini on a poker forum answering questions about pretty much everything. Haven't read the lot - 60 pages or something, but the GY!BE stuff on page 30 (maybe...) is pretty interesting. He really seems to love Jesus Lizard. His rates don't seem that ridiculous for recording etc - Electrical Audio - Booking & Rates Don't own that much that's been recorded by him, although the guitars on "For Respect" by Don Cab are rotten. In saying that, I quite like the sound on "All Roads To Fault" by ycni:m...."Ignoto" totally obliterates it though.
  14. Awesome album. Some of the tunes (Du Koo Kim, Glenn Tipton etc.) are just amazing. YAS.
  15. Yeah, I saw you walking past Morrisons. Recognised Andrew then saw you on your bike. It was one of those moments when the bus drives off and it's too late to wave. Mince.

    Local Bands

I think he's based in London now. That's what his myspace is saying anyway. Gutted I only caught him at Olafur last year. Love his tunes to bits. Might try and get him up.
  17. There's one of their tunes I listen to whenever I need cheering up, "Either Way". Worth it for the guitar "solo" at the end and the "epic" bits. The lyrics are tip-top too ("wanna find my phone to tell yer, maybe even write you a love letter.". YAS) Ridiculously bad band, to a level I didn't think folk could even reach. They seem to have a wee fanbase and that though. They have HEAPS of vinyl releases and almost every music shop I've ever been in has a large chunk of their output, sitting gathering dust. I might take pity one day...
  18. I believe this kind of music is called Gabba or something similar. God awful stuff. Past couple of times I've got the bus home, some little ned girls have been playing it on their phones.
  19. Does that Dan Carter (Radio One/A) chap play in Hexes? I've heard Finch are a bit pap live.
  20. Arg. Was going to give it to my brother for his Christmas. He sold his in a foolish upgrade to the Gamecube. I'll keep hunting!
