  1. Seconded. Sounded HUGE on Saturday. Very much looking forward to the Inverness gig.
  2. Don't think so. Entire tour got cancelled then rescheduled. This Is Hell are only doing 4 or 5 shows in England now. I think it was something to do with Kerrang! pulling out of sponsoring the tour or something. Hopefully Tortuga will be up eventually.
  3. Vinyl release soon(ish) i believe. A split with Envy is planned too apparently. Whether it'll come after or before Envy's split with Thursday, I don't know.
  4. I learned with Steve Strachan - "Spectrum Driving". He's based in Westhill and i was happy enough with him. Never shouted or got mad. He goes at a pace that suits you, so if you wanted to get right through everything or you wanted to go slow, he'd work around that etc. Reasonably priced - something like 220 for a block of 10 lessons or 24 each, or something like that. Does pass plus too and provided me with a dvd and booklet for the theory, which i returned when i passed. Fairly flexible - Sundays are the only days he doesn't teach, with the exception if you have a test on the Monday. You also have the option of sitting your test in Altons or Bridge of Don - it's up to you. I have a number for him kicking about somewhere. Give us a shout if your needing any more info. Best of luck
  5. I thought The Plight were supporting Poison The Well? If that's the case, then you'll still get to see them The This Is Hell support was Tortuga and Dead Swans.
  6. The This Is Hell tour has been completely changed. No Scottish dates at all now. Hopefully Tortuga will come up some other time.
  7. There's a Bono look-alike that comes into Tesco from time to time. First time he came in, he attracted crowds, now he just shops in peace. I imagine he opens shops or car parks or god knows what else. I'm sure he was in that program about celeb look-alikes too. Fake Bono's bread of choice - Hovis Best Of Both
  8. Enter is ace. Go get I'm less keen on the new track on the myspace....there is a horrible chuggy guitar bit - seems brainless to me and the rest doesn't really do much. I'll wait till i hear the rest before making a real judgement though. Last I heard, their bassist left so it's the chap from These Arms Are Snakes playing on the new album and at least one of the tours. Hopefully they'll come back to the UK, i regret not making it to the Inverness show.

I'm loving the "Friendly Mutton Chops" and just plain, "Mutton Chops". The plain ones are clearly too aggressive to be deemed "Friendly". An old chap came into Tesco yesterday with a perfect handlebar moustache - groomed to perfection. He looked well smug, and rightly so.
  10. I believe the line-up is: Dimitij Clearer The Sky Set Light Our Kingdom
  11. Student and Tesco chap. Bread and cakes is my game.
  12. Kaddish would be excellent - as always. I'll be along
  13. I've had both my SG and my Tele set up in R'n'B before and good jobs were done. Was reasonably priced too. I do know that Huw's bass was set up there, but the job done wasn't quite as good their work on my guitars. Captain Toms have offered some kind of repair service in the past (basic setups, inputs, etc), not sure if they still do them. I think the prices were similar to R'n'B. Could be worth an ask
  14. Yndi Halda are currently writing I believe. I know a second A Lily album is on it's way too. He said he'd give me a shout when either would be touring. Said he's enjoyed coming to Aberdeen before. I'll let you know if there's anything to report.
  15. Spoke to the chap who owns/runs Merchant City Music at the weekend. He was telling me that the AVT series is now discontinued and Marshall will be upgrading the MG series as well as producing some kind of limited run of "Advanced Valve" products, on an "order only" basis. I wouldn't touch them for all the tea in China. Having just managed to get rid of my AVT for an Orange 2 x 12" (YAS and MIN), I would urge anyone "amp shopping" to avoid any solid state/"valvestate" Marshalls like the plague. Anyone that does have one and is trying to get rid of it, brace yourself for a large loss on it. I have learnt over the small time I've spent playing and buying guitar equipment, that it's crucial you don't "settle" for something. As maxi pointed out, you'll want to sell it within the year. I've also found the disappointment from a poor purchase will lead to the amp or whatever, being unused and you're back to square one but with less cash and equipment to get rid of.
  16. Thanks for that. Something I did not know.
