    3x Gallows Tickets

I have 3 Gallows tickets for sale for their date on the 8th December. Bought originally because Poison The Well were supporting. The gig was canceled and rescheduled due to Frank getting a concussion at a show a few nights before. I don't really like Gallows enough to trek down to see them and i'd much rather sell them to an actual fan. The new support is epic-metal outfit Architects who i saw recently in Aberdeen and i was pretty bored. i got the lot for 28, so sell them for 9 each. pm me if your interested. huw
  3. thanks aye that one. well i kind of want a range of sounds. i want a kind of crushing low-end sound - like jeff from isis. also a trebley distortion (devil sold his soul do this). also a kind of middy-driven emo/scremo sound with a decent low end (meet me in st. louis, damezumari, funeral diner kiind of thing) then just a nice warm clean sound. my wallet and i have our work cut out. planning on getting a decent head soon though, so that should solve a few problems. i think i'll keep my sans though. that what i want, no fuzz, just distortion. it is hard to find a unit that can simply grit up lower frequencies rather than just liquify them.
  4. anywhere ijn the deen i could try one of the pd-7s out? really? well do you reckon it could be kept under control then, say if i had the dist. on half? there only 45 quid and i could do with a good guitar dist anyway. may just get a rat. any other suggestions?
  5. i work at westhill swimming pool. there's lane swimming from 0600-0900 weekday mornings and a lunchtime swim (half the pool open and half lanes) from 1215-1315 also weekdays. adults only swim is also half open half lanes and runs from 2100-2200. i think that's your best bet. there is just open public session, but the times vary, and i can't remember them. don't go to the evening public sessions as it tends to be kids.
  6. posted this before. maybe there'll be more interest this time. Line 6 Spider II 112 modelling combo. great amp for beginners or intermediates. 75 watts. probably goes loud enough to be gigged. 170? I'm not really sure how much they go for these days. near mint, just dusty! Ibanez Weeping Demon WD7 wah pedal. versatile wah pedal with volume, q and lo knobs aswell as range tweak. 70? again, not sure. boxed, mint. Boss Metal Zone. Heavy as fuck distortion. 30. no box no nothing; just the pedal feel free to offer for those items. also, i may be selling my Ashdown Superfly. its a 2x250 watt bass head. versatile, just not for me really. boxed, almost new. 190 ono if your selling a bass head i could be willing to trade items. i'm looking for a good 400w+ head. cheers
  7. i have a sansamp, but i can as yet get a full distortion, i use it as more of a preamp. to change between 'pretty' and 'heavy' settings. tried a big muff pi. it was way too much gain-wise, i'm tempted by the fulltone, though its pricey!
  8. Been looking for one for a while. The one's i've heard to be good are the Fulltone Drive and possibly the ZVEX wolly mammoth. any one got any other recommendations? also, has anybody ever tried a bass through a proco RAT? does it sound good? cheers

    Putting on gigs.

no, no that was all really helpful thanks! unfortunately i still live with my parents, but they can deal with it i'm sure. for the cause. i have a caravan outside though... hmmm. also, thank you. if anyone else has ANYTHING that hasnt already been said, even 'insignificant' things, please do.
  10. myself and a friend of mine really want to start putting on gigs in aberdeen. I just need to get told how to go about it, like basics, i'm sure i can take it from there. They won't be big ones at all. Kind of want to keep it small, floor show type things. Just don't want to piss anyone off by not doing something correctly. any feedback would be appreciated. Huw
  11. worth getting then? DEP are fucking incredible. I've been 'studying' panasonic youth of late. it's amazing. Chris Pennie's drumming is just amazing. He gives them that WHOLE Dillinger feel, not to take anything from the bass or guitars. Before i just was astounded by the musicianship because i didn't understand, now i listen and enjoy. Kolya-Kolya LP Meet Me In St.Louis - Variations... Level Plane - 80 Records and we're still not broke Devil Sold His Soul - A Fragile Hope (a sublie metal record) Journey - Don't Stop Believin' (possibly the best dad rock record ever)
  12. can you get badass bridges for any model?
  13. i've heard good stuff about it... gonna be good. hopefully going to try to start getting gigs on in there. but need to get arse in gear. i heard kaddish were going to playing there... that would be mint.
  14. what's more annoying is that she doesn't talk like that. i saw a brief interview on the Vodafone live music awards or some other programme of equal musical importance and she seemed quite well-spoken. The Hoosiers' videos and, more to the point, the arse they gave a microphone increase the level of annoyance 300%. horrible
  15. i never thought about it like that, but is your tone as good having the dist. after the delay? do you have to up the level to compensate at all? everything TC looks so 'swish'. anybody seen the new Nova Reverb (and delay). looks painfully versatile, just preset switching looks a bit tricky. not sure if its worth 150 bones though... reverb-wise EH holy grails sound beaut, and they don't dilute your sound too much. very warm reverb. also bought a behringer digital reverb just to see how it sounded, cost me a tenner. its good fun, but far from amazing.
  16. i wish they would listen... i think the problem is that there's a lot of bands that are trying to be one of the following: A) the MOST something eg. heavy, tech, epic, brootal; B) Different either way it usually sounds kack. just play what sounds good and maybe someone will like it. back on topic though... i don't think i've ever seen a band here playing without a guitar, but why would you, it's such a versatile instrument. what is interesting (for me at least) is these 'beeeatdoon' type bands are entirely based on the versatility of the guitar. imagine someone playing the equivilant of a C5 constantly on a piano... it would sound even worse. i do like music without guitars though, but it's more samply kind of stuff... like DJ Shadow, RJD2, but they often use guitar samples... so maybe i don't :S
  17. yeah, i really want to go to this, but the overdraft is getting a bit too far on the credit side of things for my liking so going to have to give it a miss. plus the Dons are playing so i'd be on my todd. i would like to know if anyone from Aberdeen even TRIED to book them. i'd probably put a bet of one of my limbs that nobody did. ahh weeell. i love the way the lyrics sound with envy - the pronounciation of the japanese words, subtle, but it really adds to the sound... which, standalone, is fucking ace!
  18. the drum sound and just the drumming in itself is amazing. it won me over. guitar work's as good as always. the outro, which i always loved, is now pretty brutal (NOT bRo0taall!!). yeah genuinely quite enjoyed it. i can't say i didn't see the talcom powder on snare coming, but enjoyed it nonetheless.
  19. not as excited as we are!!! 'mon. once again sorry for putting this up and not going through with it. the four of us are pretty good friends and know exactly what we want musically and otherwise... and we're, as stated above, very (very, very) excited. thanks very much to the 3 or 4 people that took interest, it's much appreciated and sorry for "being pricks" about it. Help...

that makes a lot of sense... therefore FUCK! I sent the amp back to soundy... and now i feel like a incredible tool. it is however being replaced and is due to arrive on monday. so when i get my Ampeg back get something else to plug the other side into? yes? BobbySimpsonzSoondyAmpegMegadealz sounds a treat. I'll make the effort next time to tear away from my computer and get my arse down there. Maybe when i have enough for an 8x10... or an ampeg head. I actually came down once to try out the Superfly and buy it, but i didn't phone before to check if it was in stock. Alas; it wasn't... nice trip though. Thank You!
  21. A question about live microphones - is the Shure SM58 the best option for live performances in that kind of budget or is there better? I would be shouting/'screaming' and stuff, maybe some singing, it would all be pretty loud i guess.
  22. Yes! Like some JT songs. Like I Love You, Cry Me A River That album's production (Justified - possibly THE worst album title of all time) is pretty cool - neptunes i think. Kelly Clarkson for some essentially pishy, but nonetheless uplifting ballads. Breakaway, Behind These Hazel Eyes... That Kate Nash 'Foundations' tune in irritatingly catchy and 'With You' by Avril Lavigne. After that little list (especially Avril) you are welcome to consider all future posts with regards to taste null and void. Oh and BelBivDevoe-Poison for having the coolest snare sound ever.
  23. any other takers...? dinna be fiert.
  24. yes; yes it is. i want to see this live.
  25. Tune from the newest album 'Ire Works'. New guitarist (Jeff Tuttle) and new drummer (Gil Sharone). MySpace.com - The Dillinger Escape Plan - Morris Plains, NEW JERSEY - Metal / Hardcore / Progressive - www.myspace.com/dillingerescapeplan any thoughts?
