  1. I agree with this. The ones that make you wanna bounce and nod your head like the crowd in 8 mile.
  2. I usually just PM people if I see prices lower than theirs that I think that they might not be aware of, instead of shite-ing all over their thread. Admittedly, you could have done this on a non-regular poster's thread and nobody would have jumped in, but that's not the point.
  3. Different definitely. Sure i read somewhere recently that Ben wanted to be in a band that basically sounded like Maylene and the Sons of Disaster. Wish granted! His voice goes better with this stuff for sure.
  4. Ahh right! That makes sense. It does look fucking cool as well. Ex-Dead End?! That band has been through a shed-load of members. I have notice with bigger bass stacks that you get a lot more presence which is what I like! Yeah running them in stereo would be the way forward, especially for a 3 -piece. We should start doing that.
  5. I'd prolly agree with you for the most part - I like em when they're abit more aggressive. definitely works better in some places than others. 'Docks' is an absolute beaut! I do think Sid's lower register sounds good too. Were the latter tracks written earlier?
  6. Just out of interest, why did you decide to get two cabs? It does look pretty cool, but surely on a local gigging it isn't entirely necessary? If anything I would have though in places like Tunnels/Drummonds you'd end up losing a lot of your tone by not being able to crank the amp due to the stage volume being too high? Maybe I'm wrong though. Not having a go at you if it's sounds like that, just genuinely wondering why you decided to go with two cabs rather than saving the money on the second and getting a really good head/distortion pedal etc etc.
  7. Couple of tunes in and really enjoying it!
  8. I have wanted this for ages so I'm gonna see what is out there. Basically just want the simplest of set-ups: snare hihat kick. SO... I'll be looking for the following: Kick pedal Snare stand Hi-hat stand Hi-hat Snare Kick Ideally I'd like one of those smaller kick drums to save space too. A snare silencer might come in handy too! I don't have much cash right now so the cheap the better, just want somehting to hit!
  9. Prolly the best home recs I've heard around these parts though. Do the job then some.
  10. Yep. Is it a Ripper or a Grabber... I forget. Lovely nonetheless. I believe our resident hoarder Scotty B has one too. Nah don't have a HT5, got the HT dual pedal. Which is basically the HT5 in a pedal. Good bit of kit. My only gripe is the voicing of the channels are quite different. The first channel sounds so great but it sucks a lot of bass out, the second one has more bass, but it just doesn't have as nice a voicing. It has what is effectively a guitar DI which is cool. Dying to hear if it sounds any good!
  11. Yeah Sean, the drummer, is a top bloke. I just think the other dudes believe their own hype just a tad. I suppose it's real good to be confident, but I just can't get into it for that very reason. Sean is a great drummer too. In fact their all good musicians. Prolly the best finger played bass tone i've ever heard. Can't think of any other as good anyway.
  12. Yeah they do sound great - the guy who plays bass in Citizens uses one and his just sounds like perfect punchy/ballsy bass tone if you're going for Desalvo/YoungWidows type sounds. Sure it can do more though. How much was it? Think I'll get one if I start playing bass in a heavier band.
  13. That was a good larf. Biggest thanks to Dallas and Jarvis for putting the bands up and Dave for basically doing everything while I ran around a lot and achieved nothing. Very decent of them. Jairus were awesome - the new song is prolly the best thing they've written to date - more of that plz. Adam's voice can even made chugga chugga breakdowns sound acceptable. The clean guitars were lovely as well. Looking forward to hearing more. Maths were alright - pretty screamo by numbers though - lots of octaves, singer ending up all emotional on the floor (which he has done all 3 times i've seen them). The stuff from the split was awesome, the new stuff is a bit bland though. Forgot how loud they played and how hard Alfie can hit them drums for a wee guy. Just all a bit samey. SUPER nice chaps though. The Ocean Fracture are ok. Some good parts and they ceertainly know how to write a tune, but not so enamoured by the vocals these days. I think that was most peoples main gripe and the fact that they seem to care tonnes about stage presence/the way the look etc. Thanks for the compliments. It's nice when people seem to like what you're doing. New song got a bit messy, but went ok.
  14. Although this is totally shameless I agree! I will be down.
  15. Ken, we're away to go major. The recording has gown on me a lot. At first I wasn't quite sure, but it's gotten better with every mix and master stage and the physical copies of the CD sound leaps and bounds better than the originals. Was stunned to hear how much better is sounded on a properly mixed/mastered presed cd than through a computer. Drums sounded much fuller and more resonant or something. Guitar always sounded nice - Gib SG>SPF Green Line>JMP50>Mesa Eng 2x12>Royer - doesn't get much better on paper! Anyway thanks for downloading! Hopefully can get something else out sharpish.
  16. Aye a lot of people have. Quite strange that they've never made it up here. Prolly about 3 years ago this line up would have been an absolute winner, but maybe a couple of years too late. But like you I've been into them for a while and their new stuff does sound good.
  17. The song I heard on the AberdeenEvents podcast was tight!
  18. I reckon you guys should catch most of Jairus and Maths, depending who goes on first. We may go with Jairus last. I'd imagine it'd be us at around 815ish and TOF at 9ish. Aberdeen Events - Download free podcast episodes by Aberdeen Events on iTunes. Billy's podcast features events from ALL the bands playing. Rad!
