me too probs. Might be worth looking for stuff with 4GB RAM though. I use a HP machine that has 3GB and a dual core. Not had any issues with it yet - take a look at them. Does it defo need to be a laptop?

When i recently recorded i used DI and a mic - No idea about mics etc, but i used an ampeg svt 4 pro into my 610HLF - No issues with the mic/di sound to my ears! Good results too imo

I got one the other week from gumtree. Least your dude was willing to trade with paypal. The guy who messaged me didnt seem to have a grasp of speaking english and would only send cheque. Also he kept sending some random crap, which when questioned replied "What are you on about?" Said he'd send a cheque though - still not came through haha. Not holding my breath like..
