  3. Since when has sugar been an Animal by-product?
  4. The gravity blast consists of two different "parts" 1. You drop the stick on both the rim and drum head for a rimshot but let your hand pull the stick down further, using the rim as your pivot point. 2. "Snap" the stick back up yet again using the rim as a pivot and gain a second strike on the upstroke, making two strikes in total for the one full motion.
  5. Most major cymbal manufacturers will replace a broken cymbal within a year.
  6. As said before a "comfortable" stool height is going to vary but the 90 degrees is a good place to start, try fluctuating a bit on either side. I gather the 90 degrees thing is the most ergonomically "correct" way to sit, but I'm sure few stick rigidly to it. Another thing to try is to slowly play and find a comfortable and RELAXED foot technique. Everyone will be slightly different but try heel down/up or more leg/ankle etc till you find what works for you. Then slowly build the speed up till you can hit the desired tempos in a CONTROLLED fashion without your muscles having to tense and squeeze the hits out. Sadly this isn't a speedy process though.
  7. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yo-WbyJNENU&search=derek%20roddy Derek Roddy is one you want to watch for consistent and fast playing. Be sure to check some other videos too, he's nowhere near a one-trick pony, and has in fact moved away from playing extreme metal for the moment I gather.
  8. Sleep Terror are really, really good. Check out the guitarist's other stuff. http://www.myspace.com/veganuprise http://myspace.com/atthemercyofmonsters
  9. Ditto three seconds at the end of "Crazy Nights" by Three Inches Of Blood.
  10. Some of the points on there seem a bit weak to be honest. However, I'm starting to think the leak may well be a b sides-compliation or second disk etc. Would certainly be golden if they pulled it off. I'll wait till the release to find out.
  11. Syslosis are quality too. Good tour.
  12. Archder Kemp, Captain Tom's. Great player, great teacher. Check him out.
  13. Looks more like a parked, black car.
  14. As far as I can see that's a pretty fair price for a Signature, top-quality snare. Bear in mind it's not a piccolo, in fact it's got a fair depth to it. Also, this is a pretty new product so it will not have been used on Slipknot records.
  15. Lexicon Devil

    Thanks

Aye, I'll second that. The Moorings has always had good sound but only after last night can I say that it also has the best onstage sound I've experienced. Oh and S:T played very tightly. You certainly were about as ready as you could have been to step-up for a first gig. Well done. Thanks, Ali - Ruinous.
  16. I was sure I'd seen this advertised elsewhere! AUBL presents a cracking mixed line-up The Rites Mr. Missouri Second:thought Ruinous 8pm - 25th of March - The Moorings Bar Only 2! Hope to see you there.
  17. Right, the video posted featured a tune from their earlier album on which the Drums were programmed. It's also footage from when they had their first drummer. For the second album some chap called Gary played the drums live, although they were obvioulsy triggered. I'm pretty sure that for tracks like Jigsore Quandary Gary's recordings were sped up, as from the live footage I've seen they don't play quite as fast. How many tracks went through the same treatment if any I couldn't tell you. I can tell you however that playing at speeds close to there certainly is possible. As for programming two "notes" to every strike: I'm almost certain that wouldn't be done. I'd imagine many problems would be found when changing tempo etc... If you had it set to play 16ths at 280bpm (you'd play 8ths and it would double it up) you;d be totally fucked if you dropped/gained any tempo as the module would have the samples set with a definite gap inbetween the actual and duplicated notes to sound constant. Same as if you stopped playing a run of double bass, everytime you struck a single hit you'd fire off two in very short sucession, sounding like arse. In short unless you literally were playing the same thing at the exact same time for all the songs coordinating such programming would be a nightmare, I'd imagine at least. I've never had any first hand experience doing so.
  18. Sorry to mention it but you appear to have them the wrong way around.
  19. If you're still looking my band Ruinous could do with some photos.
