  1. Don't suppose anyone knows if it'll be possible to get tickets on the door for this?
  2. I just got a new sony ericsson, it's being a pain currently as the file transfer program doesn't recognise the phone as being connected (when it is, via the usb cable) even though the synchronisation program does recognise it as being connected. Phone doesn't turn up as removable media either. Means I can't set Wolf Eyes as my ringtone My last sony ericsson phone was great though, withstood obscene amounts of abuse, and the actual new phone is great too, just the connection software :\
  3. My left thumb occasionally tries, but is always harshly overruled by the mighty right thumb.
  4. Lately, I've been finding cds by 'You Say Party! We Say Die!', 'The Faint' and '!!!' to be good summer listening, plus there's something about playing 'Hunted by a Freak' or 'Killing All the Flies' by Mogwai in the car on a sunny day which is just awesome.
  5. Eurosports not available on freeview, you can get it if you pay for the freeview extra option, but that's pretty much pointless for whta you get. There's been pretty much no media coverage either, until the other day after they had made it to the semi finals. It would be cool to see Scotland win, but I'd miss it anyway as I'm working later.
  6. Ah, most of my favourite ones have been mentioned, but Envy, Mono and Guitar Wolf are all awesome. Try Boris out too, either doom or rock depending on what album you listen to. YMCK are a poppy nintendo 8bit sound type Japanese band who are pretty good too. I've always wanted to find an online broadcast of a Japanese rock radio station, but never had any luck finding anything - can anyone else help with this?
  7. haha, I lived there in my high school years, it was always easy to walk around at 3am in the morning with the lovely orange glow lighting your way wherever you went. The complimentary asthma was nice too, shame it dissapeared when I moved here for uni Not getting why so many are saying Falkirk and Stirling are so bad though, Stirling is one of the most picturesque places you could hope to stay in. I've lived in both places, and spent a summer working as a postie in both the raploch and camelon (tatty junkie filled place at the edge of Falkirk, although the dealer I had to deliver lots of signature requiring court orders to was fairly friendly) and even though they're pretty much considered the worst areas in either town they're nowhere near as bad as other places I've been. Actually, the raploch is relatively nice, especially compared with the schemes on the way down to cornton in Stirling. My only real gripe with both towns would be the relatively dull nightlives of both places (too small), but the ease of travel to Glasgow or Edinburgh made up for it. A weird thing was, when I first moved up here, I thought "there's hardly any neds in Aberdeen" as opposed to "there's pure dead hunners eh neds back hame man". Find it hard to comprehend why anyone would consider Aberdeen one of the worst places to stay though, the only thing you could say is that it's a bit isolated, and sometimes has lulls in good bands playing, but that's nothing really. Cumbernauld is one of the dumpiest places I know of, I have a couple of friends who live there, one had taken a work van home, which was a brand new transit flatbed pickup thing, and it got fireballed within a couple of hours of being parked in his street ( he was allowed to take the van home, and never got in bother for it btw) That and Birmingham, used to have to go there a lot for national team training and apart from the traffic system, highlights of visits included seeing some guy pull a gun on someone then batter him in the face with it in the street as we were waiting for the lights to change
  8. haha, I was testing things in an oil bath at 120c today at work, whilst wearing a labcoat on over my normal clothes, you have my sympathy!
  9. I got Cult of Luna's Somewhere Along the Highway, as well as Let Us Prey by Electric Wizard recently, can go on a proper cd splurge when I get paid at the end of the month. Was pretty disappointed with Somewhere Along the Highway though, didn't stand up to Salvation at all
  10. This one is of ATDI live on the Jool's Holland show, simeltaneously shambolic and awesome.
  11. One of my mates told me that same story about 3 years ago, shame it's ot real though, I like the concept of exploding spider cactii, what a gift to give enemies and friends alike!
  12. I've been trying to become a lot healthier, I managed a lot of leg strengthening recently, as I knew I had a minor knee surgery coming up, which is done now. Now I just need to wait for it to be rested/healthy enough for exercise, I put on a bit of weight with recent exam/honours project stress related chocholate munchfests. Managed to swap chocholate and crisps for bananas, oranges, pineapples, need to get my mountain bike out more when my knee heals fully, although I only ever take it down the beach (mostly due to buses trying to murder me whenever I venture onto the roads here)
  13. 20000 was the highest I could hear. I was a bit surprised really, higher than I thought.
  14. Make a cd consisting of only "Wolf Eyes - stabbed in the face" and "Sunn - it took the night to believe" and keep it looped, for ever, if you dislike the prospect of having to touch a whigfield cd. Alternatively, guitar/bass + loud amp + electroharmonix big muff and small clone, turn it up till you get some feedback, then play with the pedal dials until you get the awesome oscillating noise of "brrzzzzshhhh weeoooo weeeoooo weeeoooo" then vary the pitch and volume until you're happy they've either killed themselves or at given up the noise war.
  15. The ending was pretty great, but don't really want to post any spoilers, just 'aargh!' at the last few seconds, unlucky there. Does anyone know when the second series airs in america? I don't think I can wait till next year for channel 5 to show it, might look for the torrents of it's on considerably sooner
  16. Crap. I think I meant Unida then. Nebula are made up from ex members of some band, I think it might be Fu Manchu. I blame tiredness for my extreme mess of a previous post I remember hearing the rumour about Garcia and Homme having effectively made up a few months ago, with talk of reforming, either for a few one off shows or to record something, but not sure if it would be a great idea.
  17. I managed to miss it last night thanks to my car breaking on the a90 last night, lucky for me repeats are on in half an hour
  18. I've loved Kyuss for ages, but I managed to somehow overplay all their albums and haven't listened to them a great deal lately, but recently put a cd on in the car and were reminded of their greatness. Anyone have any favourite songs of theirs in particular? Depending on how I'm feeling, I'd say either Demon Cleaner or The Law (off Wretch, I'm only 90% sure I have the song name right) is my favourite song, but they have so many great songs that having a favourite doesn't really matter. I'd recommend Hermano and Nebula for anyone who hasn't heard of them, both Garcia fronted bands. Also, try giving Clutch a listen, not linked to Kyuss exactly, but another very good band that Kyuss fans would probably like. Edit: As I'm so awesome, I managed to miss page 2 of this thread in which both Clutch and Hermano were mentioned, handily making myself look like a douchebag *sigh*
  19. Went years ago and it was a great laugh. I can remember on the log ride my mate sitting behind me ducked his head down and stuck both his arms out giving rather fetching middle finger gestures at the final bit where they take the pictures - because my arms were tucked in and we has the same colour tops on it looked like me doing it, and sort of ruined the picture of the 2 people sitting in front of us when we saw it at the 'buy your photo' stall
  20. Something bugging me lately has been the proliferation of Da Vinci Code related tv shows, all investigating various conspiracy theories. Seriously, at least one program on the subject every day for the last week or so, pointless.
  21. Write a song about champ man whilst pished, then go out and see any band playing, who may or may not seem more exciting in your drunken state.
  22. I rememeber watching Torque but didn't find it unwatchable really, it was like giving my brain a rest and watching some pretty lights, but the final bike chase was utter pish. Some of the awfulness was so bad it's good, sort of like how Steven Seagal movies work (but nowhere near the legendary awesomeness of Seagal movies). 'Wag the Dog' and 'Ballistic:Ecks vs Sever' are 2 of the most unwatchable movies I've ever seen, in fact they are the only 2 movies I can remember ever not being able to watch all the way through. The flatmates I had just over a year ago and I had our own top 5 shit movie list, and as far as I can remember, 'Re-possesed' was the worst (awful spoof movie). One of my flatmates insisted 'Dark City' was worthy of a top 10 spot, which I refuted on the basis that the film is pretty damn good. We also all agreed that 'Anchorman' was a horrendously unfunny steaming pile of rabid monkey shite, despite the fact it seems fairly popular with a lot of people. Barely got a laugh out of it, plus the whole flat blamed me for the wasted 2 hours as I was the one who rented it out
