  1. Something that really grinds my gears is accidentally biting the inside of my cheek. For one thing, it's an incredibly painful shock, then there's the fact it only ever happens when I am really enjoying some particular moment of chewyness, and of course the resultant lumpyness then becomes far more prone to further biting. The immediate reaction to such an incident is to want to blame the nearest person, as they obviously somehow distrcated your usually fine chewing technique, but that would be completely irrational and it is exactly what my teeth want to happen. My teeth are evil little fuckers, they revel in my misery which is why they wait until I'm only eating really good food before crunching my inner cheek. I'm sure they grew sharper and pointier on their outside edge purposely, just to spite me and cause me random pain, as if to remind me that they're the ones in charge and can ruin me anytime they want. Cunts.
  2. I get cricket for the most part, but there's a heap of terms that have never really been explained whenever I've watched it. Like I think an over is 10 bowls long, from the time I spent an afternoon watching the cricket to guess at some of the rules, and I think a 'maiden' is when they go for an over without getting a run against them. I'm probably totally wrong though. One thing that bugs me is that useless junction/crossing outside the Mercedes garage on King street, it feels like it was designed with pedestrian fatality in mind. You can have the green man flashing to let you cross the road, yet cars are still flying through because they've been sitting in the middle of the junction.
  3. I meant to post this ages ago, but totally forgot, it's a recording of the cover song they played on the night:
  4. This happened to me the first week I moved into Aberdeen, I just thought they didn't like out-of-towners. I just felt a WHOOSH then a horrid sinking feeling when I realised the wing mirror had been a few inches from skelping me in the back of the head. One thing that particularly annoys me is cunts who cycle on pavements, especially flying along on a busy pavement and going for tiny gaps in pedestrians. More than once I've been tempted to throw a spinning back fist at one or just shove them onto a road when they whistle past out of nowhere. I don't mind when they've had to come onto the pavement to avoid some nasty junction/traffic mess, but there's the ones who cycle on the path all the time, even when right next to a cycle lane. Bugs me more because I risk death and destruction by cycling on the roads and don't see why others have to use the pavement.
  5. Write to her parents telling them your opinions on the whole thing, and set them straight about their daughter. Then throw in "she got pregnant then had an abortion" style bits. And a letter bomb. Covered in AIDS. And not the good kind.
  6. Has anyone seen that clip from the bbc news 24 show where they brought on who they thought was an expert on this case, but actually turned out to be a minicab driver who was waiting to pick up the guy due to be interviewed? story: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=386136&in_page_id=1770&in_a_source=&ct=5 clip: http://img.dailymail.co.uk/video/cabbie.wmv
  7. My mum used to have a budgie, one day it was out of the cage and one of my dogs (a springer spaniel) managed to eat it. Well bite it, kill it, then deliver it to my mum as though it were some lovely gift (kind of instinctual for the dog so not it's fault). Apparently my mum loved the wee budgie cos she burst into tears. Not being the nicest person in the world ever, I found it hysterically funny, but managed to supress my laughter 99% effectively.
  8. The bit where the Japanese commentators went mad over Fletcher's shot was class. I was on a different window when I heard the noise and wondered what was going on!

    Neurosis

I remember getting Times of Grace by Neurosis when it first came out, after a friend recommended it, but never really got into it. It kinda sat in my cd collection for a couple of years when I decided to put it on to see why it had been sitting htere for so long, then somehow just really liked it. Enemy of the Sun is a really good album to get.
  10. It's pretty annoying and inconsiderate when it's people right at the front talking during the songs, not a big deal if someone is way up the back talking. I remember I went to a Sunn0))) gig with Brian Blessed and he kept talking all the way through the gig, noone could hear them play over his voice so they eventually stormed off stage.
  11. Replace no talent with never applying it and that's me to a tee. Although you could randomly pick any of the 12 and see it applying to you.
  12. They are good and it is a class album You'd probably like Rosetta "the galilean satellites" too if you like Transmission0.
  13. Aberdeen has been doing well for gigs this year, HORSE the band, Thee More Shallows and 65daysofstatic have all been class gigs, wishing I had the cash to go see a lot more though
  14. This gig, how likely is it that I'll be able to pay at the door ok? Should hopefully be making it down to this with a couple of mates, but does anyone know any local safe parking spots? Don't know Dundee too well...
  15. I'm staying in to practise having no money tonight. And watching Green Wing. Fun. My saviour from poorness may yet prove to be pasta shells and sauces form the asda price range, effectively meaning a giant bowl of pasta can be cooked for dinner at roughly 30p a pop, saving dinner costs and making it easier to plan for stuff like going to see Nebula next month.
  16. I got all the cds I was looking for, but I wish I'd seen that Pi soundtrack cd, don't suppose there was more than 1 there?
  17. Basically I have a quicktime/.mov file, it's 9ish minutes long and I want to cut it into 2 seperate files, around about the 4.30 min mark. Unfortunately, everything I've tried so far has ended in miserable failure so I was wondering if anyone can recommend the best way to do it? I would have thought iMovie to be the best bet, but have no access to a mac, so has to be something windows based that can run .mov files. any ideas?
  18. I remember in my first year, 2003, the union was actually lively and a fun place to be - you could actually spend your whole night out there and have a blast. Now it is dead in comparison almost every night, the atmosphere is gone too. Kinda sad, and I'm wondering if its gonna go the way of the old AU union in the near future.
  19. I happened to be wearing a red top today, what's the deal?
  20. Got 4 cds in the Virgin sales for 4 quid each this week: Hermano - Dare I Say The Locust - Plague Soundscapes Oneinda - Each One Teach One Converge/Hellchild - Deeper the Wound
  21. If it was last summer, that explains it, I didn't have anywhere to stay in Aberdeen last summer so went and stayed at my mum's house near Falkirk until I'd found a new flat and was ready to move up for the start of the uni term. Still, gah
  22. Acid Mother's Temple? Played in Aberdeen? When? I have an annoying habit of missing when my favourite bands play up here
