  1. Ask Chris, he's got a nomination for some band that he won't need, because this year it's mal-freekin-paso all the way.....
  2. yeah, I've recovered a few cabs. You need a warm place to do it first off. I've tried the different types of adhesives and the water based ones don't work- you need the carcinogenic/hallucinogenic ones that smell like model airplane glue for it to work because they hold better and they soften the tolex so you can stretch it to fit. From there, not a big deal, you can cut the new pieces using the old ones as a pattern, brush on the glue and go for it. There are a couple of on-line guides that show you how to do it, google is probably a help here. Work slow, and do it in a big, warm space and chances are you'll be fine.
  3. Dave- Give me a call sometime, I'll tell you all I know and give you some leads to look into. But the bottom line is I think you're going to do some driving to get a solid professional quality release. There are a few demo-quality studios in town, but if you're looking for a cd release you'll quickly run out of options- especially for the old-school sound I think you're looking for- *disclaimer* I haven't played them all yet.
  4. Hmmmm, we do need a blues jam, and I've been talking about starting one again. But aren't there enough open mics already? Would players actually turn out for a real blues night?
  5. I think I have everything from the 1st record with John Rutsey through to moving pictures. That what you're looking for? I think I have a few backstage passes too, but I'd need to look for that. Interested?
  6. And hey, we get beer too, right? Do they know how much we actually drink? Nina can really put them away....
  7. Naw, kill you for bringing the big guns? Dude, a wimpy kick drum gets drowned out by that big-ass amp of mine. You should get a second one of these!
  8. I had to play through one last weekend as part of the backline (no option of bringing my own amp), and it was loud and thin sounding to my ears. To be fair, didn't have much time to play with the settings...
  9. Thanks gang! It's a pretty cool thing, this is....

    Wanted!!!

man, what you really need is this 70's Gretsch Country club I'm selling. Looks great, sounds and plays like nothing else and has a hard case with the loudest green fur lining.....
  11. Does someone have a good email for Mark? The one I have bounces...
  12. Well, the Moorings on the 17th this month has a great blues band on. Worth the couple of quid at the door...
  13. It needs to go to the shop. Unless something is loose, no sound is a blown output tranny or something else. Not likely to be power tubes unless you're blowing fuses. Are you sure the speakers are ok? And the speak wire is fine?
  14. As much as I love old guitars, they're just wood and wire. People drowning is a whole 'nother ball game, and the media focus on the guitars and not the people is really slanted.
  15. like this..... and be sure to watch this around the 5-minute mark...
  16. No worries, it's already got beveled edges, so no need- Leo thought of them for me. But you know damn well that I've done worse to guitars than bevel the edges- lots of time while playing the damn things. Learn by doing. That's the ticket.
  17. Ignore everyone telling you to stop! They're cowards. Get a fu***** chain saw and have at it. Sometimes the best way to learn life lessons is with power tools and a guitar.
  18. Hey all, got a piano that you need to get rid of? I need an old upright...
  19. G, love to, but my hammond is way too heavy to move to gigs! Damn.
  20. Yeah ok, I understand the need for secrecy, no problem. Too bad about the age range though, I know a couple of good players that would probably fit, but they're too old.
