  1. What is the common/accepted protocol for letting a company know that you are going to seriously consider their job offer while waiting to hear back from another interview? I got good news back from my first ever interview today (interview was on Wednesday) but I had an interview for somewhere else today and they are going to be in touch on Thursday. Is there a best way to say that I am definitely interested but just await contact from elsewhere? Similarly, what is the best approach if I do make the decision to go to place 1 and then place 2 phone and offer me something on Thursday?
  2. What details do you require? Here is a list anyway: Central: Moorings Bar Tunnels Cafe Drummond Blue Lamp Lemon Tree Cellar 35 Malt Mill Wilsons Snafu The Forum The Globe Music Hall AECC Garage Aberdeen (soon enough anyway) Not so central: Woodend Barn (Banchory) Flanagans (Elgin) Balaclava Bar (Fraserburgh) Black Bull Inn (Inverurie) Balmoor Stadium (Peterhead) There are plenty more, but my mind is quite blank just now.
  3. Music promotion: Host stuff online (on soundcloud for example, as it has a high bitrate so the material doesn't get overly compressed like myspace used to do to tracks). Create a facebook page and expand a following and share your material (that is on soundcloud) on there. Forums such as this one, cappunishment (Edinburgh) and other music oriented interest sites would be a good place to link to your material as it would encompass a large number of people that you didn't already know. For example, I generally post up my stuff onto guitar specific forums and usually receive good feedback and have sold CDs through that medium in the past. Get your stuff that is recorded (if you already have stuff done) put onto disc and sell it via the mediums above, arrange gigs and have copies available to sell/hand out. Pop a note up on the noticeboards in places such as R&B Music, Captain Toms etc. pushing your material by stating influences and what you do. Get gigs sorted out so that people can come and see you play (if that is something you wish to do, of course) as there are a good few venues locally and plenty of gig-goers. If doing that, make sure to advertise the gigs in as many places as possible with posters that are readable and eye-catching. This will help you to build up contacts for future gigs and potentially develop a fanbase etc. Gear sales: This very forum is pretty good - and free - to advertise stuff on. As, generally, the place is full of people into music and gear, there is a good chance of someone being interested in what you have to sell. Gumtree is another good marketplace, as it is free and can be convenient as things can work out locally. eBay is another choice for advertising, though it obviously has fees. It does give a wide spectrum of interest. Once again, other forums can be a good idea. As above, I have had good interest in guitars when advertising them on guitar specific discussion forums. Hope that helps. I'm sure others will chime in and be able to advise other ways of both of the types of promotion too
  4. Stuff as in gear to sell or to promote your music?
  5. I'd have it for a pound. Got a price in mind?
  6. 2003 ESP Custom Shop KH-2 Neck Thru with Bare Knuckle Aftermath set: 2004 ESP Jeff Hanneman S&Key Urban Camo (1 of 4): 2005 Dean USA Custom Shop 'Dean From Hell' DFH #80/150: ENGL E670 SE EL34 with ENGL Standard Slant 4x12 cab (I used to own the ENGL Powerball v2 and Marshall 1960A on the right at the same time but sold it shortly after): I have a bunch of pedals and a drumkit too but the stuff above is my main gear.
  7. R&B have Epiphone Semi-Acoustics in stock. I'm not sure all of which are left at the moment, though I think there is both a Casino (the Lennon inspired model) and a Lucille. I think there was a worn Dot too. Others are obviously available.
  8. Ah I used to have the Giger RG. Not bad guitars. Much better with a pickup swap though
  9. The Moorings Ampeg 4x10 cab is for sale I believe. Very good cabinets.
  10. Hey, I have the full shell pack still available. I don't wish to split though as it would be a nightmare to try and shift the bass drum on its own. If you wanted to pick up the shells, you'd need to take the bass drum too (which I just bought a brand new front hoop for). You would have a nice double kick kit then Haha yeah it is! It is in my spare room. Same price.
  11. The only worthwhile 'cheap' wireless is the Line 6 Relay G30. It is digital rather than UHF so is more sustainable. The UHF stuff is largely being phased out so most companies are making digital equivalents. The G30 is ~£250. Any cheaper and it is mostly just noise and very cheap construction.
  12. I love the look of them. I would change it quite a bit though! I'm not on the immediate hunt for a JCM, but at some point I need to pick one up. Thanks though A set of 6550s and my MXR 10 band in line and it'd be awesome.
  13. Beat me to it Sam. As for gear I want (I don't think I've actually contributed to this thread yet so I'll probably have a lot to put into some posts):- Not with 3 pickups though, just 2 humbuckers. The one on the right with no white/silver crackle. + Another Jackson Rhoads of sorts, another Explorer of sorts, various Les Pauls and a bunch of pedals. Urgh.
  14. 34.28 minutes at a distance of 57.14 miles from station A. Or 42.86 miles from station B, depending on how you wish to calculate it. *Edit* - Solution: Take relative speed (175mph) as rate, R. Take 100 miles as distance, D. Take unknown value for time, T. D=R*T. T=D/R. T=100/175. T=0.5714 hours (T*60 = time in minutes = 34.28 minutes) To then find distance from whichever station, use the same D=R*T equation, this time with D as the unknown: D (station A) = 100*0.5714 = 57.14 miles. D (station B) = 75*0.5714 = 42.86 miles. You could also just use D (station B) = 100 - D (station A).
  15. I agree completely. I hope they manage to sort something out and open elsewhere, the food was good for the price (though that price will no doubt jump up if they find a better location).
  16. That sucks, I really liked the food from there and tried to order as often as I could. It was always quiet though.
  17. You must have been next to Fliss at one point?
