  1. Well, it's always been referred to as an experiment, which I guess implies that nobody really knows how it will work out. I'm not optimistic, but hey, there's no point discussing it to death, as we'll all find out in a few hours. Fingers crossed.
  2. I'm just not sure how big a proportion of the typical Dons crowd the "go-out-in-town-with-your-mates" mob actually is.......and indeed, how many of that crowd would actually prefer to go the game vs. stay in the pub. Many folk have other plans on weekend nights, and overall when compared to a Sat 3pm game, I just think there's more scope to lose our normal punters, than gain additional ones. Guess we'll see tonight, but i ain't optimistic. It's a shame, cos they're all going to miss a Josh Magennis hat-trick.
  3. So, Friday football at Pittodrie for the first time tonight. I'm heading along, but I fear it's going to be a fucking disaster. Crowds are already terrible, but with the added problem that it's on a working day, and on an evening when most people will have plans. Stewart Reagan said Friday football is in reponse to supporters demands for it.....but I haven't spoken to a soul who thinks it's a good idea. Sounds like a desperate and ill-informed attempt to attract punters to me. Typical crowds for SPL games are in the 7-8000 range just now, and off the back of the E.Fife debacle, I'd predict 6000 tonight if we're lucky. Worrying.

  5. 100,000-aire.....not a millionaire. Still, nice tho.
  6. Absolute weapons-grade horseshit. So bad, I need to ask....is this really Metallica, or just a very good piss-take?
  7. I partly agree that Dons fans have overly high expectations, although I don't think most sane fans have aspirations of doing anything better than 3rd/4th spot in the league, a cup final every once in a while and perhaps the odd Euro adventure....surely dumping East Fife, QoS et al on a regular basis isn't too much to ask?
  8. Likewise. Very useful site for jobseekers.....particularly if you work in "niche" markets.
  9. I am banging the drum, cos I do think it's an issue. I know not many agree with me, but when you look at our record over 20 years, getting humped by diddies, bad league finishes, no trophies etc etc etc, you have to start looking beyond managers (we've had more than most) and start looking at common denominators, things that are a problem, that have been present throughout. I'm not blaming the fans entirely, although I accept I sound like it....but I do think we're harder on our team than most, and I think the evidence shows it's utterly counter-productive. Obviously, we should be doing better...much, much better, and I 100% agree that we should be gubbing teams like East Fife even on one of our bad days. This team is not the strongest we've ever had, but on paper it should be way to strong for a div 2 side. Trouble is that this sort of defeat has been going on for so long, there must be some problem at the club that is systemic, and goes beyond the current manager and the current crop of players.
  10. So it's the board's fault that our fans are shit? Wow.
  11. The problem isn't the talent of the group, well not entirely. They've played some decent stuff at times this season. The problem, the perennial problem for over 20 years, is in the head....and as per my previous post, I think the fans are culpable in this. Players are only human, and don't respond favourably to the sort of insults they're exposed to every single week by know-nothing idiots who just get increasingly aggressive with every bad result. Unfortunately, these people will never accept any responsibility for this, so on and on and on and on it goes. I'll wager that the definition of "support" in the dictionary says nothing about abuse, moaning etc, and plenty about cajoling and encouragement. Sadly we do far too much of the former, and fuck all of the latter.
  12. The one common denominator thru all Aberdeen's woes over the last 20 years are the fans. Honestly, last night we would have had more support from 4000 Rangers fans. Fucking horrible, moaning cunts. I know we're shit, but this is a real reason why we play the panic-stricken garbage that we do. Every time last night where we were patient and passed it around, we had 2000 twats screaming for them to "quicken it up"....the other 2000 just sit there saying fuck all. Cue instant loss of possession....repeat, rinse, etc... Is it any wonder we often play good stuff against the OF at home? They're the only games where the crowd seem to give a fuck.
  13. Good to see the organisers have plenty of time on their hands. Let's ban the Haka next time the All Blacks are visiting. Seriously though, what is more likely to distract an opponent. A set of pipes, or 15 genetic freaks trying to scare you shitless with a war-dance?
  14. Arf! Was Brown really that bad though? I'm not sure that many keepers would have tried to claim the cross for the first goal...it was a good ball, that Mawene should have dealt with....perhaps he was a little static for the second, but again, Mawene was more culpable IMO.
  15. Was Gonzales injured on Saturday? I'm loving the irony in today's EE where Mawene is calling his teammates idiots for making such a poor start to the season. Pots...kettles....
  16. The advantage rule in football is fucking ding. Why are there so few refs with the common sense to pull play back and award a free-kick for the original foul, even when the attacking team lose possession almost immediately after play is waved on, thus gaining zero advantage. Pointless, shite officiating.
  17. Pen shout looked stonewall to me. Second Killie in goal in particular was a shocker from us. Mawene was fucking awful in the first half, but upped his game in the 2nd. Bringing Pawlett on second half made the difference for me. Gave us some directness, and there was less of the ineffectual tippy-tappy "passing in a phone-box" shite which plagued the first half. Generally, we need to get better at converting possession into attacks. We just seem clueless how to go forward at times. That said, good fightback....Foster had another decent game. Not everything he does is coming off....but he's definitely trying to lead by example, so hats off to him. Fallon and Chalali obviously need some time, but the latter looked pretty underwhelming. Fingers crossed it's just an issue of acclimatisation to the SPL. Vernon and Fallon in the second half must be the slowest front pair in SPL history.
  18. Not exactly a goal machine, but has scored goals at most of his clubs, and according to his Wiki page, he's had a lot of sub appearances. So perhaps his goals per game average is better than it first looks. Fucking hope so.
  19. Amazing....I jumped off Bloukrans River in South Africa bridge a few years back.....216m. Simultaneously the best and worst thing I've ever done. Not half as fucked up as those Russians though.
  20. Rob Earnshaw.....fuck me, what a miss.
  21. Some golden quotes in the comments, especially:
  22. In terms of strikers, we've got Vernon, Chalalalalali, Magennis, Megginson and Mackie. Paton isn't better than any of them, and we have enough numbers for him not to be missed. We're putting a lot of faith in Chalali and Vernon though. The rest of the strikers will be lucky if they score 10 between them.
  23. From here: Press and Journal - Article - Paton gets offer of free transfer, while Shaughnessy and Low on loan to Forfar Don't know why anyone should care if he's leaving. Another incredibly mediocre Dons youngster who has been given more 1st appearances than his talents deserve. Tough on the kid, but he ain't good enough. Mind you, same could be said of plenty others at 'todders.
