  1. Pet hate: Flower of Scotland being sung by the likes of Amy McDonald. Corny toe-curling awfulness. Our national anthem should be belted out by a pipe band. No exceptions.
  2. I am utterly apathetic about this. Maguire while an improvement on previous seasons is still lightweight, still thinks he's better than he is, still has an attitude problem and still doesn't have enough end product. He's totally replaceable. He's got the raw talent, but as with many of his predecessors, he doesn't have the brains to realise how good an opportunity he's got at Aberdeen and to go tell his money-grabbing bastard agent to go and roger himself.
  3. Good idea...cos we wouldn't want you having to suffer such an overbearing inconvenience as a link that you don't even have to click, would we?!
  4. The Daily Mash - UN backs Radio 1 regime change
  5. Well they can't both work cos they give different answers!
  6. My recollection of school physics is that for parallel circuits: 1/Rtotal = 1/R1+ 1/R2 + 1/R3 + 1/R4 etc..... ....so if you've got 4 x 4 ohm cabinets, you get the following: 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4 = 1/Rtotal....so Rtotal = 1 ohm Wouldn't 2 x 4 ohm cabinets go to 2 ohm, rather than 4 cabs? ie. 1/4 + 1/4 = 1/Rtotal....so Rtotal = 2 Dunno if I'm right, just interested is all.
  7. Smoking while driving is not an offence, provided it's a private vehicle. I got my car fixed at James Conn on St. Clair St (next to Morrisons on King St), admittedly it was a few years ago, but they did a top job. Cost difficult to guesstimate....depends on how deep the scratch is, where it is, will it need a respray etc.
  8. Paul Hartley and Sir Jim of Bett should never be mentioned in the same sentence. 'tis blasphemy!
  9. Richter magnitude scale - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The table of historical earthquakes is pretty interesting. Of particularly shock-value (CWIDT), is the Tsar Bomba - the largest nuke ever detonated (50 megaton) - which registered 8.3 on the Richter. This is 100 times greater in magnitude than the earthquake that levelled much of Christchurch a few weeks ago which was only (sic) a 6.3. Fuck.
  10. Mid-30s drummer with nearly 20 years gigging experience in various styles. Own gear and transport, available for weekly practices etc etc. Looking for max. 2 gigs per month. Covers, originals, function work all considered. Very varied tastes. PM if interested.
  11. Is there not free parking on Palmerston or Poynernook Road??
  12. Does it come with a string of onions?
  13. That is excellent. Thanks for posting.
  14. When every American winner of a sporting event, invariably says "I'm really excited". In my book, you should only be "excited" about something that is going to happen, not something that just has. Cocks.
  15. Italy is definitely metric. In fact, I think the UK may be the only country in Europe that isn't fully "metricated".
  16. The Daily Mash - Gazza offers Cole some chicken
  17. I just can't understand the defeatism among people involved in Scottish football who claim that the problem is impossible to deal with. Absolute bullshit. It's fucking easy to deal with this problem, and it simply involves dishing out punishment that is actually meaningful. Forget fines. They have never worked, and will not work in future. Options include: - Games behind closed doors. - "Proper" bans for violent perpetrators. e.g. 10 matches. - Stadium bans for managers....touchline bans are useless, they're still involved in the games. Get them the fuck out of the ground. - Points deductions for excessive violent conduct either on the pitch or in the crowd. Same goes for acts of bigotry/racial hatred. - Police actually doing their job and denying entry to drunk fans - Criminal charges being brought against players who commit e.g. assault or incitement during the game. A football pitch should not be treated as lawless. - Denial of TV money. If you start going down that road, clubs simply can't turn a blind eye anymore. FIFA need to get involved big time here as well. Refs are getting absolutely shat on these days and it's got to stop. Rugby style punishments, e.g. sin binning, free kicks moved 10 yards closer to goal for dissent, a rule whereby ONLY captains can speak to the ref are all so fucking obvious that it's an outrage that they haven't been implemented already. GET IT FUCKING SORTED.
  18. Absolutely revolting bastards....all of them. The managers can't even keep a lid on it. Disgusting.
  19. Just admit it. You're a cunt.
  20. My take is that any increase in numbers of new graduates each year is dwarfed by the industry's preference for experienced staff over grads. It's all driven by the need to fast-track projects, hence getting in staff who can hit the ground running. The industry is pretty vibrant at the moment (high oil price, plenty of drilling activity), so everything else being equal, grads should have a good chance of getting work....unfortunately, things are not equal.
  21. They are advertised, by the shedload, just not in the P&J. Specialist agencies are being used to recruit for the majority of positions. Main reason is that the industry has reduced it's graduate intake over the last few years and is instead looking for high calibre guys with tonnes of experience, who are often headhunted, or may not be based in this area, and hence not part of the P&J's readership. Given the age profile of the industry is very skewed towards old farts, it's a shame, but that's the reality. When I graduated, 100% of my MSc class got employment.....despite it being 1999 when the oil price was less than $10/barrel. Now it's over $110 and grads are really struggling.....go figure.
  22. Particularly impressed with Ryan Jack. Beginning to look like a properly good footballer.
  23. Lunar panels. Like solar, but harnessing the power of darkness.
