  1. He was absolute gold for Russia in 2008, but just comes across like a moody, lazy little cunt now. Shit attitude = shit footballer.
  2. Classy finish. Pure Henry. Arsene should bring back Bergkamp too.
  3. Fuck me...how was that not given. Terrible ref.
  4. ....and here comes Scholes. The script is written.
  5. This could end up an absolute ass-pounding.
  6. Fucking ridiculous decision. Two-footed maybe, but controlled, won the ball, and didn't touch the man. Referees are shit.
  7. Excellent. Got it on Sky....cheers.
  8. Anybody of sound mind would know that 7 figures is a fucking ludicrous sum of money to expect Foster to fetch. Like I say, £250k might be lowish, but not by much. I really don't think this such a bad deal for us at all.
  9. I don't really understand the argument about why we should expect huge amounts of money just because he has 18 months left on his contract. Darren Mackie has 18 mths on his contract and has European experience. Fosters' value comes from his talents as a player, and frankly he's had some good and some very bad games this season, so I don't see him as a hugely marketable asset. £700k is crazy talk IMO. He just isn't that good. In the context of other Scottish signings going south, maybe £250k is on the low-side, but the likes of Goodwillie, O'Connor etc are a) strikers, who always attract bigger fees, and b) are better than Foster. If £250k is accurate (and I understand the real figure is likely to be higher), that probably represents us basically cashing out his wages for the next 18 mths. So in the long term, really not that different to paying him that £250k for 18mths, and then losing him for nothing. Either way, he's not irreplacable and as such Im struggling to get very emotional about him leaving. Reynolds was always solid enough when he was at 'Well. Could be a decent signing. Time will tell.
  10. I downloaded a Mac port of Jet Set Willy before Xmas, and have played it relentlessly since. Completed it last weekend. Have wanted to do that since I was about 8.
  11. Don't really know where best to post this, so here will do. In a slightly extreme departure from my usual New Years Resolutions to "lose a bit of weight", I've decided to do the 2012 Gold Challenge. The aim is to to run/cycle/swim 2012km before the Olympic Games open in London on July 27th. That averages out as 9.7km per day (or 6mi) everyday for the next 204 days. In the process, I'm hoping to raise £2012 for Cancer Research UK...money that will go towards vital research into cancer diagnosis, treatment and prevention. If any of you would be kind enough to make a donation, you can do so via my JustGiving page below. Any contributions, however small, make a real difference. http://www.justgiving.co.uk/NeilMurray2012 I only started a couple of days ago, but have rattled off 30km so far. My progress can be tracked here: http://www.goldchallenge.org/gc/user/nwm76 Thanks for your support. Cheers Neil
  12. Love Steven Taylors waistcoat. .
  13. I'm a big fan of Testament, but is there really a market for a Testament tribute band?!
  14. His agent must be an utter cunt....Kia Joorabchian?
  15. Arneson....40 yards....BOOM.....2-1. Fuck yeah!
  16. I think Aberdeen is the only club in the world where people think that "charging down and nipping at full backs" is an actual position.
  17. That game was the scene of my favourite ever football chant....."I'D RATHER BE A BRUSH, THAN BE A COMBE!"
  18. There's a story in today's EE about how CB might struggle to bring in new faces during the window, because some of the second string players have it so good at Pittodrie that they don't want to leave. Don't know if this is the case or not, but if players like Mackie, with no discernible football ability whatsoever, are able to forge a 10+ year playing career in the SPL, then what message does that send to the young guys trying to break through? Had the Dons jettisoned the likes of Mackie at age 19, when it was obvious to any fan that he would never score many goals, then might that have focussed the mind of the 16-year old kids at the club who were next in line for a chance at the first team? Surely better to make it absolutely fucking plain what standard they have to reach to get first team football? Might the kids then apply themselves just a bit harder to make sure they make the grade, rather than just going through the motions, safe in the knowledge that "mediocre" is good enough? Don't like constantly picking on the lad, but I honestly can't think of any player who has so gratuitously over-achieved, and I think it's symptomatic of a bigger problem at AFC.
  19. I think your second paragraph is a massive contradiction. If it's only a yellow card offence, then you've got to punish it as such. You can't make some red cards a 1 match ban, but then have an automatic 2 game ban for a yellow. That's just nonsense. As the rules stand, I'd be happy with Pawlett getting a retrospective booking, but anything else is just fucking stupid until they increase the severity of punishment that the ref can dish out for diving. Also, I don't think banning folk makes the slightest difference in terms of deterring future offenders. I still see players throwing themselves at the opposition with their studs up.....the fact that this is a certain ban hasn't reduced the frequency of red cards from what I can tell. If a player can earn his team 3 points by conning the ref, I think both the player and his manager would take the ban on the chin. Only way to handle it is via real-time decision making via video replay.
  20. Furthermore, how can the SFA ban a player for 2 games for an offence that can only merit a yellow card if spotted by the ref during play??! That's right isn't it? Or does anyone know an example where a player was given a straight red for diving? In summation, the SFA don't have a fucking clue what they're doing. As usual.
  21. Indeed not, but clearly that's all the SFA care about......otherwise they'd be banning folk for going down easily all over the pitch, rather than diving for penalties. If you're going to be even-handed about it, you should be banning central defenders who go down easily under pressure from a striker whilst trying to shepherd the ball out for a bye-kick.......or banning goalies who crumble under a high ball despite zero contact.....these always get free kicks for the defending team, but the crime is the same.
