  1. Mrs mmd040 actually saw him in New York in August. She'll also be there on Sunday too.
  2. Cecil Sharp House, London. Home of the English Folk Dance and Song Society. Try listening to a gig when 200 pished up Irish are having a ceileidh in the room directly above! Hats off to Lionshare who got the worst of it.
  3. Anyone who sounds like The Handsome Family is welcome to my town any time.
  4. Brilliant. I missed them at Truck and was rather dissapointed.
  5. I've just bought tickets to this 3 day festival, to be held in Castellon in Spain, in Novemeber and if I say so myself, it's a cracker. Check it out at www.tannedtin.com
  6. You may find that their crypto-prog side is reserved for the live experience.
  7. Prog, neo-prog, crypto-prog, pseudo-prog, elongated dance party dub mix-prog. Whatever they are, they were sublime and my wife says, "very pretty".
  8. Just wondered if anyone else is travelling down to see Mew in Edinburgh tonight. Apparently they're a prog band now. I hate labels! In case it's not obvious enough, i'll be there.
  9. The Yardarm used to be great. One of the first real ale pubs, you could get a decent pint and a hunk of the cheese of your choice to go with it. I partially remember a great night in there and then walking all the way home to Mastrick listening awestruck to the first Smiths album on the day of its release. I bought it on vinyl and cassette.
  10. I saw Biffy live for the first time at the Truck festival this year and they were awsome. I was also stunned somewhat by the support they received down south too.
  11. I'm AB10 but I was called posh in the Cove Bay Hotel on Saturday night. My long stints in Mastrick and Torry soon put them straight.
  12. The very wonderful Broken Family Band will be live on the Jonathan Ross radio show this Saturday on Radio 2 at about midday. Mark Lamarr is standing in for Mr Woss.
  13. The Sunlandic Twins by Of Montreal Jackson Heights by Herman Dune Our Wild Mercury Years by Kicker Things Happen to Us by The Squander Pilots Happy Days Are Here Again by The Broken Family Band (CD single) The Glasgow School by Orange Juice The Dresden Dolls of that ilk
  14. Glorious for some, utter pish to others. And guess what? Everyone is correct. That's what I love about the wonderful dispoable world that is popular musi c.
  15. I'd never heard the Dresden Dolls before last night but I'm still gobsmacked this morning. Stunning performance, stunning songs and that voice, so effortlessly powerful. In awe.
  16. (smog) were incredible but old Bill sure is one strange guy. Intense, hypnotic and downright bloody scary at times but his voice was awsome. Enough tics to keep a shrink in business a lifetime. Don't miss him next time.
  17. I saw (smog) there a few weeks ago. I really liked the venue although you could easily walk past it and not know it's there. We did. It suited (smog) down to the ground as it's a pretty intimate venue with a real subterranean feel to it. One bit of advice though would be to make sure you get there early as they have a strict curfew. We dawdled along, as we usually do, being used to Aberdeen gigs that seldom start on time, to find we'd missed the opening act that we wanted to see. We just caught the next support and (smog) were done and dusted and we were out of Edinburgh by 10:30! This was Friday night too.
  18. Excellent, the new single is great too. I only wish I could remember what it's called.
  19. The soundtrack to John Carpenter's, The Fog. Scared the crap out me when I was younger. I wonder what effect it would have now. Also The Plague Mass by Diamanda Galas.
  20. Paris Philadelphia Madrid Hobart London Ghent Riga Aachen NYC Melbourne
  21. Ruby Murray Comedy farce Sherman
  22. Oh jolly good. We've missed you you know.
