  1. Mix up enough polyfilla (not too runny) to fill the hole, scoop it in with anything handy (ideally a spatula), then scrape it flat with the same tool, or a bit of hardboard, or a ruler, etc To get a smooth finish wipe over it just before it dries with a damp sponge. If there are still some gaps, repeat the process.
  2. struggling to add 5 as edit button not appearing... here they are... Sinead O'Connor Shane McGowan Jane Fonda Chris Evans June Whitfield

  4. I was just going to post that now. The show is archived, and it's a great listen!
  5. ....and here's their review of the new Matricarians one... Matricarians - When We Were ... cdr (self-released) 5 Taking its cue from the more abstract recordings on Kitchen Cynics' releases, Alan Davidson & his Matricarians cohorts create haunted soundscapes from singing bowl, guitar, zither, clarinet, piano and theremin. A kitten plays theremin on one track! Gorgeous stuff. ALSO: Do You Know? cdr (self-released) 5 / Up Down & Sideways cdr 5
  6. Here's Melody Bar's review of my new one... Kitchen Cynics - Ampometer cdr (self-released) 5 Excellent new release from Alan Davidson that finds him at his most haunting, particularly on the atmospheric instrumentals that mix field recordings with his unmistakable guitar sound. Some great new songs too such as the weird casio pop of "Ampometer". A couple of new versions of old songs (one for John's radio show) - "Jock Sheep" and "The Gleam in the Heron's Eye". Finally there's a poem read by Alan's late father "I Wish I Were a Caterpillar" mixed up with some swirling radiophonics. Highly recommended.
  7. Thanks anway, Son... if you do decide to split the vinyl up, I'd be keen on the blues ones
  8. Does the turntable play 78s....? Might be interested, if so, and if you can deliver, as I don't drive.
  9. *reports factual innacuracies in above post*
  10. .... and Teenage Fanclub too..it was a good one! I was at the Young Gods one too, plus the Shamen, Lush, and a band called the Spitfires, I think.
  11. I would suggest P G Six, Meg Baird, Jack Rose, Charlie Parr, Glenn Jones....possibly Marissa Nadler.
  12. Finally got a listen today, and was a happy bunny ( despite the tracklist having KopiLuwak and Matricarians mixed up... might've een my fault!).
  13. Still haven't had a listening opportunity yet (family things).....I'm assuming that Chris's song is 'The wild geese'? If so, I also did a version, for my new cdr, 'Ampometer', as it was my dad's favourite song. I did it as a tribute to him, as he died recently. Once surprised him by taking him to a Jim Reid gig in Stonehaven many years ago.
  14. Some of mine.... Thurston Moore 'Demolished Thoughts' The Fall 'Ersatz GB' P G Six 'Starry mind' Meg Baird 'Seasons on Earth' Jeffrey Lewis 'A turn in the dream songs' John Martyn 'Heaven and Earth' Bridget St John 'Under Tokyo skies' (might be late 2010) Marry Waterson & Oliver Knight 'The days that shaped me' Bonnie Prince Billy 'Wolfroy goes to town' John Fahey 'Your past comes back to haunt you'
  15. Got mine today.... sadly can't listen til tomorrow PM *frustrated smiley* Many thanks, OG!!!
  16. Tried to PM , but started a ' conversation' instead... hope you can access it ok!
  17. I'm assuming 'kit' means bow etc, not self-assembly? If so then I'll take that one... sounds ideal!
  18. Thanks guys! Sam.. think he's 17 now, so a full size would be the thing. Adam- will try contacting 2 mins... cheers!
  19. It's that time of year again when my g/f asks me to get something for one of her sons' Christmas. This year it's a usable violin for a learner, at under 50 quid. If anyone can help I'd be chuffed!
  20. Picked up a 1940s 'meico' microphone in the Oxfam shop today... works fine and looks lovely!
  21. I usually send one to Irene Trudel at WFMU in the USA (and she does play songs)....happy to do it again this year.
  22. Saw him a few times...the one I'm sure about was in the wee venue above the pub on the corner near the Palace (the Hayloft?). Also saw him at the Univ. Union, and I think possibly the MacRobert Hall (definitely saw Bebop Deluxe there). Always great live!! He got the audience dancing, too (even me)
  23. I will remove Anne Briggs from my list, as I saw her in the early 70s (would love to see her again though). Will replace her with Pete Dello. Saw Frankie Miller a few times back in the day.
