  1. If so, how come? Just wondering because nobody seems to mention them anymore...maybe this is old news, I dunno.
  2. When you are selecting what forum you want to browse, instead of looking like this: If it looked lke THIS, it would be easier to find and select your desired forum: Minor point, and not very important...
  3. John Petrucci - Dream Theater Mike Ammott - Arch Enemy/Spiritual Beggars Marty Friedman - Ex-Megadeth
  4. How much Soilwork have you heard? Have you heard A Predators Portrait? Because they have five albums (I have them all, first two are the least best as they are pure thrash with little melody) The way they use atmospherics and dynamics, and then change from a heavy fat groove to a beautiful melody in a split second is awesome! Soilwork are probably my favourite band and have been for a couple of years now (since the release of Natural Born Chaos).
  5. Goddamnit. I can't listen to it cos there's no souncard in my work computer but I'll be pretty dissappointed. Clayman was about a million times better than reroute to remain. Soilwork's last three albums absolutely piss on anything from Reroute to remain. Damn, damn, damn...
  6. I have to be honest I think the Drakness are great. A great breath of fresh air in the market, and the very fact they can churn out chart toppers on the same album that has songs about shooting smack ("Giving up"), genital warts ("Growing on Me") and a song that goes "Get your hands off my woman motherfucker" and "you cunt"... well that says it all. Not to mention the cure piss-take, Dancing on a friday night. I don't really care if they are just a novelty band or if they never make another album, but the OTT vocals and AC/DC, Thin Lizzy and Queen rip-off riffs/solos are great. And my Dad loves them.
  7. I just embarassed myself by laughing out loud in front of the whole office, even though it's me that's being ripped! Classic stuff.
  8. John Myung. Awesome. Bass is an extremely important of a band, but there's no way I'd fancy being a bassist, I'd rather get some credit
  9. I must aplogising for leaving after about 5 songs, but Heather had to go to work and we needed to get the car first. She was actually 5 minutes late too, which just shows how much we care about you guys. love from dan xx
  10. Thats right thursday the 12th of february... what better way to prove you're a real man * than attend a night of rock, the day before the day before Valentines day! You NEED this. Anyway, also playing are Aberdeen's finest bruisers, Risactonia and M.O.T.H (man of the hour) who are apparently awesome! See you there soldiers. * or a real woman, I guess
  11. Paul Gilbert also played a song which had 100 of his guitars each playing a bit on.
  12. Fatal Tragedy - Dream theater (petrucci) Hangar 18 - Megadeth (friedman) Ride the Lightning - Metallica (hammett) The Immortal - Arch Enemy - (M. Ammott) There are loads more bit those are cool ones.
  13. Iron Maiden Thin Lizzy Iced Earth AC/DC The Offspring Metallica Slayer Children Of Bodom Sepultura Dream Theater In Flames Black Atom Cannibal Corpse you have these bands in your listening section but you want a tele? Is that not kind of like being a vegetarian but fancying a Big Mac?
  14. I don't like the Marshall AVT's. I had a 100W valvestate and it actually sounded a hell of a lot better than the AVT's.
  15. Well let me tell you exactly what happened then. Last week JJ, the singer and guitarist from 10 Easy Wishes (he plays guitar and sings) was strolling down the street looking quite smooth and admiring himself in all the shop windows, which was fair enough because he was looking quite smooth, when all of a sudden he came across a tea-cake called Jim but jim was no ordinary tea-cake. He was a super tea-cake, but JJ thought he was rubbish so he took out his rifle and shot him with the rifle, because JJ always carries a rifle because you never know when it might be handy and on that day it was handy because he needed the rifle to shoot Jim the rubbish super tea-cake. He carried on walking and when he was approached by a strange man wearing a leather jacket. It was Tom Easy Wishes, the drummer from the same band as JJ was in (10 Easy Wishes). Tom's leather jacket was made up of crumbs from tea-cakes that had been shot by rifles, but he would never know the fate of his late ancestor Graeme. So he shot himself with JJ's rifle. Tom was pretty rubbish for shooting himself but he was a good drummer, even though he was rubbish, and JJ was very sad. JJ cried for ten minutes and said, "Tom you are so rubbish, but I love you and you were my favourite drummer in the whole of 10 Easy Wishes." And JJ was right, he was the most favourite drummer in 10 Easy Wishes, but no such luck would prepare him for his own destiny. All of a sudden, Adam appeared out of no-where just so he could get a mention in the story. This definitely happened, you can even ask Dave because Dave was there and Dave always tells the truth because his middle name is 'truth', and he only tells it that way. He never even lies, not even to his mum.
  16. Firstly you need to remember to switch the pick up to the neck position if you want a warmer and bassier clean sound. Also, an EQ pedal may help - but then you have the added problem of switching the distortion, the EQ, the pick up selector AND getting to the microphone all in a tenth of a second. Cut the treble on the amp slightly, my clean and distortion always sound fine (except when I forget my channel switcher and clean IS distorted....)
  17. Yes, but he is also on the cover a bunch of megadeth album's, however the one my avatar is from is from RUST IN PEACE. I promise.
  18. With all due respect, I think once it gets below B (including A#) it gets too detuned. I think B still has an element of clarity and groove, and bands like Carcass, Dream Theater, Down and Soilwork pull it off so well. Where as Korn and Staind just sounds too much like bass guitar with distortion. If you have ever heard Nevermore you would know what I mean. They're a great band and I think they play in A, where as if they were a tone higher pitched it would sound so much better. As for THE lowest, Meshuggah surely win - 8 string guitars tuned down either a half or whole step, which means in either F or E - a WHOLE OCTAVE below concert pitch! They sacked their bass player because they didn't need him anymore. (Not that I am really a fan either, but the Slipknot songs in B are far better than the ones in A)
  19. If anyone is interested, my Warlock has .56 gauge strings as it is tuned down to standard B. Yep, thats standard B! (B E A D F# B)
  20. Batting for the same team? Well what ever floats your boat mac, but I definitely prefer the ladies!
  21. "Gillian McNugget and the open ribcage of doom" and "Spooky Skeletons Eating Vampire Brains In a Big Scary Castle" What do I win?
