  1. No it doesn't, thats what confuses me, but it is DEFINITELY not the guitar or my leads, as I have checked them all out multiple times. The amp sounds fine, until a lead is plugged in. ?(
  2. Dan G

    Explorer

I have a Gibson explorer, and it is the best guitar I have ever played both sitting down or standing up. When stading up it also never tilts and stays EXACTLY where it is. I'm not biased either, as I own quite a few guitars and have played a lot more too. It genuinely kicks ass.
  3. I figured that I'll need to change valves at some point in the future so I thought that if the valves aren't the problem, then at least I have a spare set of valves which would be handy. But cheers anyway.
  4. Yes Marshall use Svetlanas. My amp is broken (sort of). When playing it sounds fine (cos the noise drowns out the problem), but when there is a guitar plugged in and not playing the noice from the amp sounds like rice crispies on clean, and a thunderstorm on overdrive. The louder you turn up the master volume on the head, the worse the problem is. For gigs, it doesn't really matter butas for recording... Everyone seemed to suggest it was the valves.
  5. Yeah, captain - have a good one!
  6. Does that mean you think I could do it myself, I'm not *completely* stupid (although I do lack knowledge on said subject) and know that valves do 'pull out and plug in'... I orderd 2 x SVETLANA EL34s and (after much reading up) 4 x SOVTEK ECC83s
  7. there is no such thing as "too metal"... well maybe manowar, but they don't count.
  8. Hopefully YOU won't be there because to be honest I think you're a cunt. Now fuck off and do something worthwhile, for instance cleaning out your dad's semen from your bruised asshole.
  9. Goddamn y'al! thanks a lot for all the help - although so many mixed suggestions has confused me even more! I wonder what Graeme C would say...?
  10. I agree that JP is god in human form.
  11. ...or do you have to get a pro to do it? I just ordered some valves with the aim of changing them myself, or is that not a wise idea, as I don't really like playing about with stuff like amps. I have a Marshall JCM2000 DSL-50Watt Head.
  12. On 'cemetary Gates' by Pantera, a third fret harmonic is played after the intro build up, just before the main heavy riff that everyone is familiar with. Joe Satriani etc all hit those harmonics around the 1.8 fret which are nigh on impossible to nail....
  13. Yeah Rob, because being 6 foot 2 with muscles is far worse than being too short and slim to get a suit that even fits you...
  14. I don't think he could get a tailor made suit for 4.31...
  15. It's not a cool contest...just a suggestion for atom fans of albums that they might like.
  16. how swish are you talking? Cos if you're thinking 100 - 150 or so quid then 'Next' is decent. If nearer 500 then go for it neil...find a nice Armani suit. I don't know any Tailor's though...
  17. Sorry, I didn't mean to react in a way that seemed like I assumed you were being confrontational... I was just trying to back up my thoughts. I know exactly what you mean, that's why I have made a new thread about that subject.
  18. Thats what I was meaning...You DJ and attend the odd gig - that's more than worthy than some of the people who post here yet couldn't even tell you where Drakes is! I wouldn't even say that I am a 'scenie' as such but it depends on what your idea of that is, I play gigs, I go to gigs that I think are worth going to, but that's about it...
  19. To a certain degree, yes. Although my comment was more of a motivational speech for Tv tanned to come along... I also don't actually see the point of people coming on here if they don't attend gigs and support bands etc... I know for a fact that tv tanned, although maybe not Mr GoesToEveryGig, does at least have an interest in the scene to some degree, and therefore be a relevant attendee of the fudge awards.
  20. hmmm...sounds familiar! If I could be arsed to work, I would come on here a hell of a lot less.
  21. That you are on the aberdeen music scene website for a large amount of each day yet say you have little connection to the scene. That's like working in a supermarket and saying you have little connection with food. If you are on this website, then you are the scene...
  22. From the band profiles on the official website, http://www.blackatom.co.uk Full Name: James Erskine D.o.B: 27/05/82 Originally from: Edinburgh Significant Other: Chris Height: 6'1" Weight: 12.5st Words of Wisdom: 'If i can't fix it, anyone can' If you didn't actually know Erskine's significant other you could be forgiven for thinking he bats for the wrong team.... Of course we know he doesn't... in fact "Making sweet love to Ladies" is his middle name.
  23. If you like us then you will more than likely enjoy these albums: BLAZE - The Tenth Dimension AREA 54 - No Visible Scars DREAM THEATER - Images and Words ICED EARTH - Something Wicked This Way Comes SYMPHONY X - The Oddyssey Whose heard or got them all?
  24. But you're on here for about 5 hours a day!!
