From what you describe the cause could be other wireless networks near you. A lot of things can interfere with wireless networks (cordless phones, baby monitors, microwaves etc) but these wouldn't give you consistent failures like you describe. Have a look at the available wireless connections near you. If you see any Sky ones then they are almost certainly set to the same wireless channel. Have a look on T'internet and find out how to change your wireless channel on your router and try a few different ones, see if that gives you a more consistent connection.

There's quite a few of these scams going around. Basically the same deal, get remote access, infect the PC or hide data, ask for a sum of cash to put right something that wasn't wrong before they called. Some claim to be from microsoft themselves. The most prolific one that I know of seems to be based in India. Never reply to spam ( it's not even a good idea to open them, depending on your email security settings), if they know the email account is active they can sell your email address to other spammers.

Heat is basically molecules vibrating faster. If they vibrate faster then it's all the more likely that a bit of agitation will free the bonds to it's fellow molecules. The main benefit of hot water over cold is that it vibrates fat molecules to the point where they liquefy.Basically turning them into oil. Oil is not soluble in water. Detergent has one end of the molecule soluble in oil and the other in water. It works by covering the surface of the oil, basically coating it in a water-soluble 'paint', so it can dissolve in the water rather than reattach itself to what you want cleaned. You can take as long as you want, as long as you're prepared to pay for it. The reason you might be feeling rushed is because they are budget studios. I call them budget not because of the (relatively speaking) low budget for studio equipment. It's because most people who record there are on very limited budgets. Most people underestimate the amount of time required as well. Engineers will try to keep the session moving fast so that the project can be completed as close to the budget as possible. You never know when a problem is going to arise so you've got to be on top of things from the off. If you want a more relaxed session tell them that's what you want and wave some wonga in front of their face.

The single one is a bit rubbish, unless you have a laptop I suppose. I can see that faceplate getting lost very easily though, and I wouldn't want to run power through it without it in case of liquid spillage. The 3 way adapter is awesome though. It's not just the space it saves but the fact that all the cables are going in one direction and in the same area. The fact that you can plug all connectors separately for troubleshooting adds to it's appeal.

You just need to be the songwriter. Whether you pay tax on it or not doesn't matter a jot to the PRS. A photocopy of your passport (or birth certificate, can't remember exactly) and the bank details for getting the cash is all you need to give them iirc (oh, and a tenner). Technically you should inform the IR, but since you'll almost certainly be running the band at a loss ...(keep all strings, practices, equipment, petrol, van hire etc receipts/invoices and they'll soon see you aren't running at a profit if they come a knockin')

I think this small event thing is fairly new, I've never heard of it before. Certainly worth a look for any bands that play their own material live (it's the songwriter that gets the cash, not the performers) on a regular basis(10 gigs minimum per year). You might even get a wee bit for having a song broadcast on SHMU FM, certainly for being played on northsound. Not a lot of dough, but very little work required (inform them you've played and give them the setlist is about it) and the 10 membership is for life I think.

Except it might cost you that 10 to register, and that particular gig is too far in the past to qualify. In fact if you apply for membership now it's only retroactive until 1st jan. On the other hand it's all insanely complicated and an email to the PRS might be a good idea. For the small gig scheme it's only a tenner to register and as long as you play 10 gigs a year you qualify. Exactly! that size of gig is around 3% of the door iirc. Split that between what, 4 bands leaves 0.75% per band, minus PRS admin fee. Less than 0.75% of a few hundred quid is hardly going to equate to 1600 in fees paid out. If it does, does anyone fancy forming a band?

According to the PRS, the money due from one of these randomly selected small events (pubs, clubs etc) is about a fiver. Since it costs a minimum of a tenner to register I don't see why it would be worth it. 400 is someone having a laugh. Maybe they want you to sign over all your rights to them, probably with a cunningly worded contract. Personally I'd hit the delete/spam button on my email.
