  1. BODMAS=BOMDAS=BODMSA=BOMDSA Multiplication and division have the same weighting, addition and subtraction have the same weighting.
  2. I make it equal to 'F' for fail. As pointed out division and multiplication are of equal weighting so you do not have enough information to do anything other than take a guess at which way the person who wrote it means it to be. You can resolve it to: 48/2x12 but without extra parentheses you have no idea whether the denominator or the numerator is meant to include the 12.
  3. Could be the battery just needs re-calibrating (usually a tool in BIOS to do that) due to improper charge/discharge cycles, i.e. leaving it plugged in to the mains all the time and not letting the battery discharge often enough.
  4. The basic difference is that FLAC is lossless compression (reduces file size but doesn't affect quality) and MP3 is lossy compression (reduces file size but does affect quality). Also remember that all MP3 files are not created equal. Most people will be able to spot the difference between a heavily-compressed MP3 and the original source, few will be able to tell between an MP3 with the lowest compression and the original source.
  5. 1/Zt=1/Za+1/Zb Multiply 1/Za by Zb/Zb(=1) and 1/Zb by Za/Za(=1) 1/Zt= Zb/ZaZb + Za/ZaZb 1/Zt= (Za+Zb)/ZaZb Zt=ZaZa/(Za+Zb) Same thing innit. A common way of wiring is parellelled series With a 4 speaker cab this results in the same cab impedance as speaker impedance. 2 *2 8 ohm speakers in series=2 16 ohm pairs. wire them in parallel and you get 8 ohms total.
  6. I used to have a terrible time with them (and Gilling-fucking-ham) in every FM game I've ever played. I even had a self-penned ditty entitled "Who put the cunt into Scunthorpe" I used to sing to myself (or my computer of you like) whenever I played them
  7. I thought W*nk was in Austria but a quick google shows that it's F*cking that's in Austria.
  8. I think they must have cut some channels out to make way for HD/3D channels. There must still be about 60 but quite a few are HD and there's half a dozen or so 3D channels.
  9. We've got both in the pub I work in. Every Serie A game-check Every Champs League game--. They have a lot of "Calcio" channels so it wouldn't surprise me. That's how they can show every Serie A match Every EPL game-Don't think so, they do show one 3pm Saturday match. They repeat all the matches a lot and I don't see any repeated outside British content plus the Saturday 3PM match. I've never managed to find the English commentary either ?(
  10. Arsenal are only 5 points behind with a much nicer run in. They only have to play one top five team, at home to Man Utd. Man Utd have to play 4 times against top five teams (Chelski twice, arsenal away, man city home). Arsenal have 7 home and 7 away games left, Man utd have 6 home games and 8 away, and they're not doing too hot away. Arsenal also seem to have top half teams at home and bottom half teams away. To be honest, Arsenal's fixture list is about as good as it can get, Man utd have an awful lot of grafting to do to hang on to that 5 point lead. I don't see chelski working themselves back in to it, 10 points behind with 14 games to play means they pretty much can't afford to drop any points. They definitely need to take 6 points off of man u.
  11. Doesn't really make much difference with a power amp. It's not meant to be visible to the audience and it's outside appearance will tell you very little about it's inner working (i.e. the important bits). Normally a power amp will sit on a flight case quite happily not being dropped or having it's paint scraped off my belt buckles for years. If he'd asked for a picture of the inside so he could determine whether it had been kept maintained then I could understand that.
  12. Personally I think all humans deserve the respect of not having someone knocking on their door trying to sell them something, be it double-glazing, a new kitchen, or another way to hate people who think a little bit different to you.
  13. I was only offering what I thought your team was worth, along with all the other stuff people have kindly offered to donate of course, I wouldn't be so insulting as to suggest they were only worth what I brought to the table. BTW, if they do go for it, let me know asap because I can throw in half a packet of Tesco value chocolate chip cookies for our first signing. I can't keep these for too long or they'll end up the same way as the corn flakes. We probably wouldn't even get a Histon player for soggy cookies.
  14. The difference though is that atheists do not "believe". An atheists view is formed from collecting facts and analysing them using rational thought and an absence of pre-formed opinions (well, that's the theory). An atheist will change their views as more evidence comes to light. Religious belief is entirely different. You are essentially allowing someone else to form your opinions for you, and these opinions are formed on other peoples opinions, not evidence, opinions. Personally, I prefer to be in control of my own thought processes. I certainly won't hand over my decision making to people who believe a book that preaches forgiveness and "an eye for an eye". Surely the two are mutually exclusive. There are so many inconsistencies and contradictions in the bible you could pretty much do anything you wanted by finding the right passage. If religion followed the mantra of Bill and Ted ("Be excellent to each other") then I wouldn't have a problem with it. Unfortunately most religions seem to modify that sentiment slightly to "Be excellent to each other, except that lot over there who believe something different, we need to deal with them".
  15. To be honest, I think you're just an atheist. An antitheist would be going round to their house telling them they were wrong, not the other way round. Some questions I'd like answered: If the whole world was covered in water after 40 days and 40 nights of rain (re:Noah), where did it all go after that? It's not in the earth, it's not in the sky, where is it? Maybe Satan wears scuba gear to work. That'll put his fires out. If they think the earth is only approx 6000 years old, why was it made to look like it's billions of years old? What's God playing at. Ooops, sorry, I forgot, the ways of God are ineffable, they are beyond the ken of mortal man. "I'm sorry Mr Geologist, you are wrong, but I can't tell you why because even though I have a cosy-cosy relationship with the Big Man even I don't know, and, even better, I can never know, cos he's that freakin' ineffable". If there is only one true God, why does he not smite the unbelievers? Why is he leaving all the hard work to the Jehovah's Witnesses when he is omnipotent? You'll have a hard job though, they've had 2000 years of otherwise intelligent people thinking up bullcrap answers to intelligent questions.
  16. I've got several biros with dried up ink and an empty pizza box (with not-so-greaseproof paper intact) if that'll help. Oh, and half a box of cornflakes that have lost their crunch. If anyone has a Spongebob Squarepants DVD to throw in I think we may be on to a winner.
  17. I see Craig Bellamy has been at it again. BBC News - Craig Bellamy arrested over Cardiff assault claim
  18. They do. According to the website there's a BOGOF offer for the whole of January (except on small pizzas, but what's the point of a small pizza?).
  19. At the point Christy is talking about, the engineer is still concentrating on individual drums, dialling in gating, compression and EQing where necessary and getting a rough mix.Once the technical side is sorted then there's no point in getting a warp-speed blast through because you're going to hear it in a few minutes anyway when you get the band to run through a couple of songs.
  20. Spot on, Christy. This is even more important in small venues where the backline might actually be a large part of the FOH sound. Personally I think an engineers job is to optimise the PA equipment at the required operating volume and enhance what's coming off the stage: not fix, enhance. An engineer has limited control over a band's sound so you have to give it to them in the right ballpark.
  21. Don't just be polite, be friendly. I've not got much else to add to idol_wilds post.
  22. 11 out of 17 play-off winners have went back down straight away. 6 out of 17 winners have gone straight back down. Second place teams come somewhere in the middle, unsurprisingly.
  23. A common mistake (imo) that I see people new to mixing make is that they spend ages EQing and processing each individual track separately and don't take in to account how the whole thing will sound. My advice: Get a rough mix first using the minimum EQ/processing possible. Since you should have recorded the best sounds possible you shouldn't need much EQ at this stage. Now you can work on individual tracks but work on them in context. One of the hardest things about recording is knowing how it has to sound before you have even touched a mic.
  24. I see Leighton starts back on Monday. BBC Sport - Football - New Aberdeen manager Brown eyes move for McNamee
  25. Superb. I now know everything I need to know about that match.
