  1. Hi I seem to be having problems with the new site so I am not sure if you got my last reply. Sorry to say we have found someone for the band, but thanks for your interest. Zaf

  2. Cheers for the tips folks I think we're pretty good when it comes to general gigging eitiquette, but theres always room for improvement. We could probably act a little more friendly than polite as soundian said, its just we play the majority of our gigs in bars and halls in smaller locations, which in our experience, is a totally different kettle of fish to Aberdeen hence the atmosphere isn't what we're used to.
  3. Was interested in knowing the local aberdeen musicians thoughts on out of town bands, for example, what you expect from them and such. By out of of town im meaning more closer to home bands from places like elgin, inverurie or in my case, keith. Wanting to know due to us getting the impression we sometimes dont act the way we should ?( I must say we probably have been guilty of leaving too early/arriving too late, although we have tried to improve this of late. However i do think weve been given a raw deal sometimes aswell. For example a few months ago we played a gig on saturday night in the tunnels. We got through there in time for our sound check but ended up not getting one due to the headlining band being late, but we just got on with it. We got up on stage at the time the promoter (who didnt seem to have any real interest in speaking to us, despite our efforts) told us, only to be told by someone else we were going on a bit later. Needless to say our sound was shite, and thus wasnt a great show for the folk we had taken with us to see. The promoter at the end said he would contact us about money (we had sold around 50 - 60 of tickets) and as of yet has not. Nae happy. Anyhoo...the question is, what could we do to make us look better in the eyes of the local fans/bands/promoters?
  4. Soulcasin would be interested in playing. Havent heard of many of the bands, but that He Slept on 57 are pretty rocky arent they? Maybe we'd be suited to that one. Dont think we're that heavy. Theres a live track on our facebook, its all we have at the momment unfortantly, Its decent enough quality though, see what you think Soulcasin | Facebook
  5. Got some stuff for sale. First up is my Ibanez S470DXQM, this has been fitted with a seymour duncan JB pickup, looking for about 400 for it. I do still have the original pickup for it so it I will easily put it back on if you wish. Also needing to shift some boss pedals. Boss DS-1 for 20 Boss OC-3 for 60 and a boss ME - 50 multi fx for 100 (note this does not come with a power supply, one i was using is being used for my other pedals) If interested give us a shout, cheers. Edit : Shoulda said the guitar is in mint condition, was my backup guitar so was very rarely gigged, will of course give it a good clean and a new set of strings if someone decides to buy it There are a couple of scratches on the pedals although all are in perfect working order.
  6. Andy Murray. And the fact alot of people cant seem to accept that I dont like him.
  7. Just watched paranormal activity to see what all the fuss was about. Thought it was a bit of a poor mans Blair Witch Project.
  8. Cheers for the compliment Simon! Any more word on this one though?
  9. Wouldnt mind playing at this. Soulcasin on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads Old website now, but you can hear our songs on there, formly one night stand we are now called Soulcasino (one word, aye, we know about the casino in aberdeen, go ahead take the piss). New page is in the making though, Cheers. EDIT : fuck knows whats wrong with the page just now, getting a new one anyways, hate myspace.
  10. I think it depends on what kind of band you are. Were from keith so we play alot of gigs around the smaller towns, weve managed to make a bit of a reputation so people do come see us, although it is true you do have to play alot more covers but when we shove our own stuff inbetween it still seems to go down well enough. The money is good too, getting paid around 200 a gig. If your a metal band though, I just wouldnt bother playing the smaller towns. I wont name them, but a seemingly well respected and popular metal band from aberdeen played in keith last year, they cleared the place out. All that said there is a bit of a music scene in the elgin/lossiemouth area. Theres a promotions company in elgin thats brought some big-ish names in (some ex stone roses guy or something really) but its really all indie stuff. We also played a gig in lossie town hall a few weeks ago, there were four bands and it was really well promoted, so about 200 people showed up, so aye, i dont think playing the cities is the be all and end all, there are decent places inbetween too. Edit: The afore mentioned metal band was not enrapture, who also played keith and apparantly went down really well, I didnt go though.
  11. The old lady of turin doesnt seem as good as she used to be, seems Italian footballs going down the pan a bit, except Inter, but theyre full of south americans. Bobby Zamora though, player.
  12. There we go tried again, may be a bit too short notice but you can see what you think!
  13. Not sure about online, but if you happen to have an ipod touch or an iphone theres this guitar toolkit app where you can press in the notes on a virtual fretboard and it tells you what the chord is. And its got quite a few other little cool things.
  14. Just wondering if you got my pm? Sent one about a week ago.
