  1. Indeed they are, although the bassist reminded me of the ginger baddy in The Incredibles...
  2. Radiohead - Dundee Caird Hall 97 Idlewild - Dundee Marryat Hall 98 Idlewild - Edinburgh Caves 05 (acoustic set) G Plan - Edinburgh Backpackers 05 Manics - TITP 99 Various other too, but all the Easter eggs are making me forgetful...
  3. I really hate the Red Hot Fucking Chilli Peppers. I REALLY hate them. And, as a postscript, I FUCKING HATE SLAP BASS. It's like musical domestic violence - unacceptable both in front of and behind closed doors. I also hate Good Charlotte, and the nu-80s culture of ostentatious displays of wealth that characterise so much of rap music. Loadsamoney indeed. Silly Tory bastards
  4. The two deadenstereo songs are 'Lines In The Sand' (with the vocal/guitar intro), and 'The Ideas We Have Of God' (guitar intro).
  5. Regrets? Bands? Money? I can't imagine how these things are linked... What's the track listing?
  6. Having given it a couple of listens, I have to say that I'm not impressed - it's not the fact that it's 'folky' (their cover of 'It'll Take A Long Time' by Sandy Denny of Fairport Convention fame was ace), it's just the fact that the songs don't seem to be any good. Maybe it's a grower, but for me, the songs just aren't good or interesting enough. And I never thought I'd think of Idelwild as bland.
  7. Right, having given it a couple of listens, I think I'm siding with Maxi - I just don't think the songa are any good, folk or otherwise. The songwriting nous seems to have left the building, but maybe they'll prove me wrong tomorrow night...
  8. Ah, just think, bars that can't play any Led Zeppelin...heaven! *looks around and realises no-one else thinks that LZ are a big pile of ego toss jobbies* Exuent
  9. Is this the time to plug our Moorings tracks, which happen to be up at http://music.mp3lizard.com/deadenstereo/ ? Just wondering...
  10. Got tickets to see them acoustically in a tiny venue in Embra this Friday, so maybe it will all make sense... I actually haven't had a chance to stick the record on yet... Can we have obscene points? You could get one for liking Pink Floyd or playing a tapping solo in a ballad
  11. deadenstereo did a split single with Stigma (our track was 'A Perfect Second) which had a run of about 250 on Spermatozoa Records, and to my knowledge they all sold. except the one that I kept, and polish every night I reckon it quite a good thing to do, especially if you're selling them at gigs. 2 or whatever isn't a big ask if someone has seen and liked you. J
  12. Aye, the clean tones are ace, but the overdrive just wasn't enough for what we need. I actually sold it to a mate who's started a blues band, so it's gone to its spiritual home...
  13. Absolutely right, The Moorings is an ace place to play, and Flash took great care of us when we were there (cheers man, the hang over was on you ) We had a similarly bad Glasgow experience at Nice N Sleazy's when we were expected to go on before the doors had opened. That was lovely, as you can imagine... The tables looked like they were enjoying it though...
  14. Argh, don't encourage him! The Buckfast, the thousand yard stare, the murmured atrocities... In point of fact, the Social Suicide Bomber... *shudder* We love him really ;-p
  15. It has three channels, clean, drive and more drive. It's an overdriven rather than distorted sound, but it gives a good thick tone if you push the gain up and hit more drive. I should have said, the footswitch is included.
  16. I'm selling my Fender Hotrod Deluxe (because I got an Engl...). It's in excellent condition, bought new last year, has been gigged about three times and otherwise just used in rehearsals. You can see all the spec and stuff at http://www.fender.com/products/show.php?partno=0213202 They're going for around 500 new, but I'm looking for 350. If anyone's interested, send me a PM. J
  17. Somewhat late I know, but it's terrible news. We always enjoyed coming through to Drakes - it was amazing to go and play there, and it somehow made the 3 hour drive back to Das Kapital in the early hours of the morning worthwhile! RIP :-(
  18. Just call me Thom Bellamy Seriously though, millions of thanks to Flash and the guys from the Moorings, the recording quality is so good that me and Craig decided it's probably the best drum sound we've ever had. Really appreciated, and I'm glad some other folk like it too. PS I am trying to get one these ENGL doo-dahs now too. Sounds good to me...
  19. I know you misspelt 'posthumous' just to mess with my mind...
  20. Yeah, we had an absolute blast, and the only downer was that the pub shut at 1...
  21. I've got a bootleg of the Manics' Glasto 94 set, and it's pretty awe inspiring. What the fuck happened?...
  22. *clutches at straws* If anyone fancies sitting with me in the Mighty Arabs enclosure, that would be lovely...
  23. But probably not mas strange as 'Mister, Will You Please Help My Pony' by Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen
