  1. boss star are from dundee. i guess they just haven't played enough shows up here to have sold that many copies. but they're a brilliant band. tom works really hard to try and give something back to the bands, and he's never biased about who he decides to release. the thing about the bands he's releasing is that it gets non-scene people coming to gigs, seeing other fat hippy bands that they've never heard of and realising that aberdeen has a lot to offer musically.
  2. word! that'll be amazing. specially if grievous acoustic behaviour is anything to go by.
  3. it wasn't really a scene points gig though. more just people congregating for the joyous cause of rock!
  4. that was me. i have seen a wood wasp. it went 'bah'.
  5. i thought TAR rocked! it was like being 16 again. like james said, if he'd written one of those songs now, undone, he'd be a fucking millionaire. it was good to see all the old crowd there and the reception for TAR was reminiscent of simpler times of yore. i didn't really like sucioperro very much, but that was more the style of music. simon gall were really good although i wasn't really in the mood for it so i lost interest before they were finished. didn't see the first 2 bands cos i was stuck doing the door.
  6. AJ from the Backstreet Boys used to play his girlfriends the Linkin Park album and claim it was his 'new solo project'.
  7. jesus, he's never attacked you, or the band. just some of the stuff you've said, but i'm sure you've done the same to him in the past. and you are different, but we'll leave that discussion till we're face to face, eh?
  8. i admit that chris gets carried away sometimes and i regularly try and get him to spend less time on here arguing. on saturday i physically picked him up and carried him through to the living room to get him to stop. but i can also see how easy it is for him to make a comment, because you do sometimes set yourselves up for it by talking yourselves up. i'll also say that a lot of the statements you make really hit a nerve with me right now and can really piss me off. like the above thing regarding frosty jack. because you're outright refusing to take any of his comments in a lighthearted way, and when you're extended the rod of friendship, you refuse it because you're so stubborn sometimes that you can never admit when you're being childish. especially when your online personality is also quite different to how you are in real life. it always has been. the thing is ben, you and chris have always taken the piss out of each other and it's always been good natured. but for some reason you seem to take it to heart when it's about weapon, which is strange considering when you first formed you told me it was jamesy's band and just a sideproject for you. so if you can't take the jibes in the manner in which they're intended, then just add him to the ignore list and forget about it.
  9. i don't think what that guy has said is pompous or overblown. ben, you used to be the same with quik. you'd get defensive really quickly which is fair enough, but your responses often came across as childish and arrogant and I said that to you back in the day. and you admitted to me that yeah, you do that and you don't mean it. and to be honest, you guys have talked yourselves up on here, and there's been a lot of hype surrounding the band. that's been said by people from all different 'social' groups including some of your friends. it's not in a derogatory way, it's just a simple fact. and purple frodo' right. sometimes it does seem like you're trying to force your band down people's throats, but once again, it's something you and jamesy have done with your bands before weapon. so you have to expect some sort of backlash and not take it so personally all the time. and regarding frosty jack, as i said before, the man makes the same jokes regarding chris, as often as he does to you, and him and chris are on perfectly friendly terms in the real world. why not take him up on his drink offer?
  10. signed and have also sent it to neil leyton, cos he loves drummonds like it were home.
  11. ah ben. if you could only see frosty jack in drumming action you'd be eating those 'loser' words. the little pictures he posts mock both you and chris equally and they're funny. they must be hitting home or something if you can't see the humour in them.
  12. modest mouse are shit. and they're assholes. they came to my old radio station in LA and acted like a bunch of pricks.
  13. the best article the evening express did on fat hippy records was the one in which they stated that fat hippy records was 'run by tom hingley of the inspiral carpets, who also runs captain tom's music.'
  14. that's shit! they were ace guys and a great band!
  15. told ya before, get me and chris in some sorta weird gender cross over. i'll wear a tux and he can don a pretty frock.
  16. currently devil's own by tijuana switchblades, zero me by radio lucifer, draw the line by deadloss and we got the soul by the needles.
  17. 2 or 3 i believe otherwise you have to pay.
  18. i think radio lucifer were a lot better at their first gig than at this one but i think it was due to onstage sound problems. i know all the bands complained about the poor moniter sound and unfortunately it seemed that radio lucifer suffered for it.
  19. it was fucking great! what an impressive line up. by far the best one i've seen in a long time and definately the best gig i've been to at moshulu so well done to alex and chris on that one.
  20. you'll love it. the man has the sweetest voice of all the men i know and is strangely attractive. plus wee jimmy 'optimus' lucifer will be drumming for him. i guess you're going so long as linds goes who will go so long as she's not holding a grudge towards me for cancelling our coffee plans today. make her go if she errs on the side of pissy.
