  1. What's worse IMHO are pay-to-play gigs along the lines of 'Stepping Stone' at the cathouse, where you don't have a hope in hell of making your money back. Bob, if you want to play in Glasgow and get paid, try the student union. You won't get a huge crowd but it's maybe a good way to play your first gig down here.
  2. I wonder if Green Day will still be peddling the same old set i've now seen 3 times - where the get the kids up on stage to play their instruments and all that. I think the headliners are pretty poor. The Darkness have been so over-exposed this year it's painful.
  3. Hear that Neil! No Kisses for you! Webmaster Neil has tonsillitus as well for anyone who's interested.
  4. For POO to play out of town, you're basically going to attract a hand-full of people to the gig, and therefore really can only command a small form payment to go towards travel expenses. As for bands from Aberdeen, who play in Aberdeen, sure you would expect payment for your time but obviously you have no direct expenses so surely even 20 makes the gig worthwhile? Afterall, at the stage that the majority of bands in Aberdeen are at, you're giving up your time in order to gain experience, build a fanbase and get exposure. Expenses like practise time, string etc are in no way related to the gig. You've decided to play in a band, and therefore you've accepted that you're going to have to pay these costs.
  5. The EP is fab. We went to see them at Nice n Sleezys the other night and they were brilliant. By far and away the best thing to come out of Aberdeen in recent times.
  6. Noooooo Pah. Aerogramme were amazing at tuts the other night stephen. You should have come down.
  7. Aerosmith! That would be amazing. Whoop whoop.
  8. What happened to fountains of wayne. They used to be so good.
  9. What's 'the fence weekend', just out of interest?
  10. Kiss me out of desire, not obligation - I like that a whole lot. Jeff Buckley. That and "you are going to be nothing, and i am so fucking great" Instruction. Very good for anger management.
  11. The chilli's arn't so bad these days. I think it's acceptable for their sound to have changed since they're no longer 25 or whatever. Maybe we're just not their target audience any more?
  12. I thought they were pretty dull as well. No unique selling point, so i'm not suprised they never really got anywhere.
  13. Yeah? Quality. I might go to that.
  14. That's an opinion, not stating the obvious.
  15. I thought a mighty wind was excellent, not least for it's strangely appealing soundtrack. We watched Best in Show the other night and i thought it was ace as well. The gay guy and his outfits were classic.
  16. Or all of you ungrateful people could stop moaning and apprectiate the time and money which Neil invests in this site, and accept that it is his to run in whichever way he chooses. If you don't like it - start up your own forums where you can combine music and shit chat to your hearts content! For gods sake do none of you have anything better to do with your time than to ponder the organisation of the forums on an ONLINE CHAT SITE?! Deal with it, please, because this is all getting very tedious.
  17. Surely that's the fault of those who post on them?
  18. Not me. So it would have to be Neil, but I doubt it.
  19. The 44's - trumpet, trombone and sax.
  20. Great by Instruction. That and NIN The Perfect Drug: "Turn off the sun, pull the stars from the sky. The more I give to you, the more I die. And I want you". I like to think I adopt this healthy approach to all my relationships.
  21. Phil Events and Promotion Strathclyde Students Union John Street Glasgow
  22. They have six in Glasgow which are all highly successful. I would imagine that a Garage type place in Aberdeen will do pretty well considering the huge managerial and financial clout behind it. I would also have thought that if they aim to put on bands, it will damage all the larger venues in Aberdeen including the lemon tree, music hall and moshulu. If CPL book someone for Glasgow, is it not also pretty likely that they will have first pick to book them for Aberdeen as well, and will also have more financial pull?
