  1. Many of you will probably not be with me on this, but I think this has upset me just as much as John Peel's death. I love my music but literature is my medium and there was never a better, funnier, or more human writer than Hunter. I re-read the Great Shark Hunt recently on holiday and people were beginning to think I was strange because I just kept on laughing to myself while I was reading. It's unfortunate but he couldn't have died any other way. His words will stay with me until the day i die.
  2. it bloody well sounds like it was!!!
  3. I've never heard of them... will look into it though.
  4. Hell, I paid a tenner to sit in the sheep-pen last year. And I didn't like the line up half as much as this year!
  5. yeah fuck off neil ex, youre gettin it at guts practice (maxwell)
  6. there's a hellish amount of people that have been with triple kirks bar staff...
  7. Three Colours White is one hell of a twisted film... Absolutely wonderful though. Still haven't seen the other two though... Are they as good as White?
  8. 65daysofstatic sounds good to me! hopefully i'll be able to get the night off work this time!
  9. Aye, I may have gone a bit over board when I said the film was amazing... The idea of it is amazing and some parts of it really work well. The acting wasn't always convincing but when it was... ZANG!
  10. Has anyone seen the film Before Sunset? Theres an amazing song in it, sung by the lovely Julie Delpy. In fact, it's an amazing film as well. But the song is beautiful.
  11. one of my favourite openings was muse in edinburgh. they had these giant screens that the band were standing behind and throwing guitar poses that would just be exposed to the crowd for a few seconds. they were getting silhouetted by strobe lights. it was amazing. also, i saw idlewild at the music hall and they has a projector counting down from 10 to 1 in black and white. Then it just turned to "start." I found it incredibly exciting.
  12. Excellent news. Apart from the being skint part. Whats happening with the album and all that? Any news of live shows?
  13. has there ever been a more deserving recipient?
  14. I do love Hookers Green but I have to admit that they can be very hit and miss. I've seen them twice now, hating them the first time and loving them the second. However, if you catch them on a good night, you just might be blown away. I certainly was and on the strength of that second gig i saw, I would definitely go and see them again. Maybe they're just shit, who knows?
  15. My only regret about the whole thing is that the negative scene points option has been taking away. I really wanted to make a teenager feel bad about themselves.
  16. this man gets scene points for even mentioning that song. what a fucking song. Yes! my personal choice would probably be... boss kitty by oxes or dog and pony show by shellac. oh yes.
  17. Is this thread a joke? I can't actually tell. I'd like to have some proper input. First of all, it's fairly obvious that My Minds Weapon are probably very serious about being the best/biggest band they can be on their own terms. We may not all like them but they don't care. They are just a local band trying their best to develop their music and play to as many people as possible. They take themselves seriously and will go further than Aberdeen by simply acting like Professionals. Good on them. Go Dan! Second of all, who gives a fuck what people think about your band? If they like it, great. If not, you don't have to listen to them. There are some people on here that think other people's negative opinions are important. Why? Just ignore the cunts. Third, Guts on Fire of North East Scotland is, in fact, a real band. In development. The reason so many people have heard about us without even playing a show is that we were simply taking the piss out of all the bands that hype themselves up and think themselves so important to "the scene." Bands that hype themselves up as much as possible when they are still playing Kef or any other local venues. We've all seen it before... "[insert name here] are gonna rock your fucking world! we are the only thing to believe in!" My Minds Weapon used to be guilty of this but have stepped back from it by removing their forum, therefore eliminating 90% of the bullshit chat that went on around them. I know they won't care but I take them a lot more seriously now because of it. Plus they have developed a lot as a band. And finally, you're all fannies.
  18. What's the reason for the name change? Just got bored of it or something more sinister???
  19. Hmmmm... My respect for you is lessened. Alas, it was not much before...
  20. Are there many tickets left???????
