  2. If I correctly guess the lossmaking involved with this years Fudge Awards, do I get a free ticket??
  3. Weirdest word ever....?! I see trouble ahead of this scene points crap.
  4. Yes, it is. Soon the assets of the business, PA and all that, will be taken to pay off and close down the business.
  5. This is more of a private party really, bring your own alky. The business has started to close down and liquidate, but this and the last gig were do-able on a private function basis, so the good Drakes folks decided to let them go ahead. After this the onslaught of liquidation follows, so there are no further opportunities for this, so tonight will be THE FINAL EVER gig at Dr Drakes. Soon the keys get handed back to the landlords and all that garb, so this is it folks.
  6. Well, some dude was getting too violent in the pit I guess, so he went on a big tirade over that, saying he would go down there and fight him, etc, etc. It was a good 5-10 minute debate and the old "I don't want anyone to get hurt" lines. Then again later with some speeded up girl the same kinda thing. Fuck knows what the security folks were doing to be honest. Everyone else with me was there to see Mad Sin really, but the general concensus was average, bit samey. Mant reckoned that in Glasgow the night before Mad Sin were better than Lars and the boys. I also thought the guy Gordie was kind pointless, strutting round and adding the occasional backing vox. Hey hey.
  7. When I was in halls in my first year of Uni I was with 2 Singaporians who were in their 3rd year, 1 Irishman in his 3rd year, 1 Glasgae 30-something in his 4th year and bizarrely one of my older sisters' friends in his 4th year. Fucked up, huh? I just went out lots... Maybe that's why they do it, they figure if there's no-one in your flat you want to hang out with then you're forced to go out and have a blast!
  8. Trisha or Rikki Lake... It's hard to say which one you want to drown first! I find when I watch them my brain starts to ooze out my ears and tries to make an escape from their voices and patronisation.
  9. You'd better believe it.
  10. I think their last KEF/Lava gig was the best one I've been to there. Charlie Harper is a legend...
  11. Brilliant, see if I can't get me a guestlist slot...
  12. Yes, but Anderson and his mate couldn't get tickets so headed through to Glasgow for their Green Day gig tonight. Mant came back with us, generally complained most of the time, and whined when "Machine Gun Etiquette" happened to have played through and all the way back up to track 4 and was still on when he awoke, despite every fucker in the car having fallen asleep and it being somewhat difficult for me to rake through a CD wallet for another CD while driving at 90mph odd and concentrating on staying alert/awake.
  13. Why is it that most girls want to bed/marry him?? I thought he was quite an ugly fucker. Reeeeeeally bad facial tattoos as well. Funny how no-one noticed him much until the whole Rancid thing... Didn't see many girls falling at his feet when he used to play with UK Subs!
  14. I'm listening to early years Soundgarden at the moment, and I'm thinking about what a great drum sound their releases always had, and in particular the talent of Matt Cameron on the skins. He's probably the only drummer who I listen to and really makes me want to try and learn to play. You can hear every little and subtle touch he uses on the records, and some of his rhythms and techniques sound amazing to me. He's not blindingly fast like some drummers, but he's so solid and and the technicality behind what he's playing comes through. The mental and sonic picture I have of him is a lot like that of local tub-thumper Len Atom... Any opinions on Mr Cameron? Any other drummers who do this for you??
