  1. I don't really care which is worse. Especially if I score some Jack Daniels out of selling my quota.
  2. You want to see the Psychobillies go at it. "Wrecking" is what it's called, fast, arms fists, everything flying, and somehow no-one gets hurt.
  3. Probably a directional microphone to minimise picking up other sounds, and a good resolution of recorder. You can probably then do a lot of clean up on the sound on a computer with ProTools, etc.
  4. Actually, yes. I've been to Jungle Nation gigs before certainly. I have every intention of going to see Piney Gir at SNAFU, despite the extreme electronica thing not being my exact cup of tea. I was also looking forward to the prospect of seeing Kasule at the Castlegate event, until I discovered it was the same time as one of our own gigs outwith the city. Were you trying to make a point, maybe? I've even been along to view various bands you've been a part of over the years... And your musical style is hardly me now, is it...?
  5. Threaten to rattle his head off the counter repeatedly until the memory falls out. Tha'ts what I'd do.
  6. Probably! I showed my mate Stan that joke "Metallica Vs Napster" cartoon RainbowPrincess posted some time ago, and when the big James Hetfield came on and went "Beer! GOOOD!" he said "Fuck me, it's you!".
  7. Do they let you do that? 2-for-1 deal or something??
  8. Sure he wasn't just the delivery jock?
  9. Unlikely. If people actually cared, then Dr Drakes would have had no need for closure. The "scene" basically started from punk/diy/rnr gigs at the old Drakes, and has somehow become this big thing that everyone with an opinion on music wants to be seen to be a part of. It's got to be a kind of cool-by-association thing, which is tragic. It used to be that people went to Drakes gigs because there was no alternative to it. You could be a rocker and be happily seen drinking and having a good time at a ska gig. These days people will either stay home, or trot along to whatever gig they think most people will be at so they can hang out and be "cool", and so all the other folks will see them there and think they're cool and part of local music. I think back to the many individuals who chipped in their free time and skills to create Dr Drakes from a run-down, skanky ex gay bar.... I can't think of any other people locally who are willing to dedicate their free time and effort like that. Most other people are happy to just be on the receiving end and not put much more than their own appearence at some gigs back into the "scene". Maybe the whole thing has to implode before it can re-invent itself again.
  10. Exactamundo. I said it was easier if you have something different to offer, but that's still not all that easy at all! The bottom line is, as always, if you want to get out there and make something of your band, you have to make some sacrifices. And usually that at least means a lot of time and effort, and often some hard-earned money too. If you aren't willing to, then your band will likely never get far from the city limits and playing the same old crowd.
  11. Likely, but is that concept something that other genres of bands are un-capable of doing? Gig swaps, basically?!
  12. I think what most people don't realise is that their favourite big venue who puts on all their favourite big bands tends to be heavily subsidised by breweries. They don't mind making a big loss on their overall figures, because they can usually rake it all back and then some through alcohol sales on the night. Sadly, independant venues have no such backing...
  13. I've seen that tcake guy with his girlfriend in Moshulu once or twice. How come in his photies he looks like quite a sizeable chap, yet when I laid eyes on him he's actually the size of a 14-year old? And they say the camera never lies... Pah!
  14. I will sell my scene point quota to anyone who can come up with the reddies or Jack Daniels.
  15. I play with my Mids on 6. Is that too r'n'r for metal??
  16. I don't think you can rule out Manson's work as an influence on what happened, but the root cause is that Mitchell had that mindset to begin with. There are many rogue influences on people in life, which may or may not cause them to do something bad. But we can't and don't go around banning them on the offchance.
  17. A tad extreme, but it's like every other day for me so far...!
