I have to say, I do love Hoodie, however cheesy it may be. I am pretty much completely in agreement with you, and she seems a hell of a lot more intelligent than all the identikit emo clones out there, which is good for puncturing the whole phenomena of deriding anyone who's 'lower class' as being a chav, etc... though that's probably more a subject for the Wasteland, and Cobra's on TV right now, so I have better things to do. EDIT: The fact that her quote is 'Biggest Midget in the Game...' is also pure class.

Just a little listen, so my opinion might be further refined, but I was disappointed that pretty much all the bands just went for a straight cover, I can understand replicating a song if you're in a covers band, but I'd have hoped for alternative takes to make things more interesting... perhaps as a band they're better (I've not heard them), but the Mendeed 'Thing That Should Not Be' is awful, bad bad vocals and the production particularly suffers in comparison to Trivium before them, not that they can help that with a more limited budget (I'd imagine), but it comes across badly.

I bought an electronic drum kit, but don't have a bass pedal. Or sticks. And I can't play the drums. I'm also going to have to work night shifts. But that's because I've been promoted, so it's all quite good really.

A strange film to suddenly mention in a thread mainly about Bruce Campbell, but yeah, it's amazing. Saw it at Cineworld here in Glasgow, probably buy it on DVD as well, it's just sublime. As for lack of foreign movies at Blockbuster, that's why I use DVD rental over the internet, that way I can put down all the foreign movies and 'classics' that I've never seen, and slowly educate myself... I use lovefilm, which I really would recommend, though I wish they'd pay me for doing so. Oh, and finally, Bubba Hotep is amazing. I hope they can secure the finances for making a sequel to that, it'd be awesome. Never underestimate the humour of an crinkled Elvis talking about his pecker.

I had such hopes for quality cinema in 2006, I was dying to see the new Superman, A Scanner Darkly, Pan's Labyrinth... but then Snakes on a Plane came along, and now I can't even watch ANY movie without waiting for August 18... which incidentally is the release of Clerks 2. I'm going to have a party that night, oh yes. Oh yes. And now the Bruce Campbell project, which I'd heard about before, and which sounds amazing. Bruce Campbell, with chainsaw and monsters, and no idea what to do? Sublime genius. Stephen Hawking's brain would explode if he came up with this plot. I tell you, 2006 is going to be the year of the gloriously schlocky B-movies, and there's nothing we can do. Nothing.

I've been on these boards since its inception, due to previously being on the AUBL board and a couple of others; good old memories of writing an article for the Alphabetty website in response to Sam Addison's slating of TAR, and doing some articles for Fudge, 'Uncle Mikey's Guide to Nu-metal' earning me an unexpected but perhaps predictable nickname, until Subsisty intruded on my life like a monstrous elephant barging over everything in its path, taking my dignity with it. I initially went onto AUBL after I heard there was a poll about my old band Subsist, asking whether we were great or terrible. It transpired that Lewis of Seven Stone Under had been writing various derogatory comments about me and the band despite the fact we hadn't even played yet (a few months earlier I'd kicked SSU guitarist Gavin out of my flat though we're friends again now). Fortuntately the poll had an option for 'haven't heard of Subsist', which unsurprisingly won the day, but from there on in I inexpicably found myself drawn into the web of pointless debates and anonymous bitching...

Yeah, I remember when they came on at the Therapy gig at the Lemon Tree AFTER Clutch. I almost spat out my whisky in disgust. But decided instead to swallow it so I could numb the pain. Luckily co.uk. sank without trace though, after being 'hotly tipped' for a while, sure they changed their name at some point, though I've erased that moment from my memory. I saw a poster in Glasgow for a band called Liquid Fluid, that conjured up a particularly strong adverse reaction.

It should all be exceedingly simple... once you've signed up just go to 'Edit Profile' (on your home page below where you can put the main photo), on there you can add shows or manage songs, both are pretty darned easy to do, or so I've found.

Gym, then off from Glasgow to Edinburgh to get wasted as part of a friend's final exam celebrations. I don't generally like using the word wasted, but I have that urge tonight. Which is bad. Think we're going to Cabaret Voltaire. When I eventually wake up, off to the Highlands I trudge, to see the family and maybe work on Popcorn Fiend technical details. Sunday I run for upwards of two hours as part of my marathon preparation, and probably plan the purchase of some Roland V-Drums. Once I get back to Glasgow, I'll probably see a couple of movies, Transamerica definitely, before deciding which terrible movie I want to laugh at more, Basic Instinct 2 or Firewall. From what I've heard both are equally erotic, so it's a tough choice.

Right so I have a band website, and a website for my own little songs that fall outside that remit. I guess the latter is in a way a 'personal' page, but it's the same format as for a band. So, I was wondering, what do I miss by not having a 'personal' space, apart from not having the details of my age, spinster status, etc published on my page? What do I miss out on? Is there this huge network of funky people having the best time of their lives, and I'm not invited? Are there certain things omitted from a band space that would be cool to have? In short, is there any point to creating a personal myspace site in addition to the other sites I have? In fact, is there a point, full stop?

Does anyone know if it's too late to e-mail Tool with Alex's photo, and hope that they're able to substitute it as the album cover?

No-one, it'll just be you and your dad, running down empty streets, as drivers incandescent with rage wonder aloud why a race with only two people on it has shut down their normal route.

Did that happen during the set, or in crazy aftershow shenanigans? Will Haven were still good, though there wasn't enough guitar in the mix for my liking. King Size Blues, were, well, not quite my thing, and Crowbar I found a bit boring, though the slower the played the better it was. And the copious amount of spitting by the frontman was highly amusing, in a juvenile way. In one way I wish I was that guy, but I know that if I was I'd probably cry myself to sleep every night. Come to think of it, I do anyway.

Hmm, memories are so clouded... [u']Best Mainly the great bands I've seen, such as Rage Against the Machine, Muse, Blood Brothers, System of a Down, etc, maybe I'll edit this and list more once I look at old line-ups... Hanging out with friends and having a nice time in the camp Leeds last year, high-fiving strangers 'for Cilla Black', informing them that she died of a popper overdose; 'what I way to go,' I added as they ran away. Worst Drinking pretty much my whole weekend's supply of whisky on the first night of my first Leeds, getting lost in the campsite, lots of other debauchery as well as puking and having some sort of panic attack in my tent. Having another alcohol-induced breakdown at T in the Park two years ago, this time lamenting the downfall of society as a mother and her daughter took turns to take their respective one-night stands into their tent. I later did a forward roll into their tent, and told them to look out for my name in the small-time regional weekly newspaper I worked for. I doubt they did. I drank so much that I missed 25 phone calls from my sister offering to give me a lift, and puked into a newspaper on the bus back to Perth. I turned over the page and kept reading. Deciding that my drinking day in Leeds last year would be the Saturday, so I could have a nice sleep on Sunday before going back home on the Monday. On Sunday however I drank my daily supply of whisky in half and hour, went about consuming any type of alcohol I could, finished my emergency supply of whisky in my tent, alone, at about 1 in the morning, and could barely move at the ungodly hour of 6 when my friends woke me. Good times, good times.

I especially like the consistency of calling Islam a hateful religion, while previously calling for the assassination of Hugo Chavez. Given the swift apologies following his previous pronouncements, I have the feeling that senility is taking its toll on Mr Robertson...

Goddam right I'm excited, is this actually confirmed? Didn't know it'd be so guest-centric, more hip-hop artists than I might have imagined, but then I guess I had no idea what to expect... this, and a new Tomahawk album, will make this a very good 2006...

I'm doing the Edinburgh half-marathon later this month, I fully sympathise with you... seen that I come from near Inverness, I actually meant to enter that event, shame I forgot until it was too late... if you're interested in even longer distances you should consider the Loch Ness marathon in October, that's a great route to do, curving around the loch, almost enough to take your mind off the agonising pain...
