It might be my favourite album of the year. I might have posted this song in another thread before but it's so great I can post it again. I gave the new Spoon album one listen and it sounded good, I've heard lots of good things from others about it so it seems they've kept their amazing run of albums going. Everything I'd read about them made me think "yes, I will definitely love these records," but I found them brutally dull. This, on the other hand, is totally fucking Mexico. Just a touch. It's still about 90% brain-mashing sludge. Some triumphant ultra-melodies too, like something The Sword would do. It's just good. Can't remember the last time they did a proper UK tour. I did get to see them at a festival last year though. They played lots of old songs. It was good. There was only about 10 people in the room. Then later that same year, they were opening for Deftones. Crazy. They should have been bigger than they were/are. They've certainly got 'that sound'.
