Belmont Street not as good as it once was

You may as well watch a movie on a gameboy screen if you're going to go to the Belmont only been there twice. Once as they were the only cinema showing a hunter Thompson movie and once because they were the only cinema showing Antichrist.

CHAOS REIGNS.

Please use commas.

I dunno, I think The Belmont's really good, not sure what you were getting at re: screen size. They're... big screens.

I think there's more too it than that!

The shop is nicely in keeping with the scaffie Sports Shop across the road. Worst service ever, but at least consistent. The Glasgow shop was equally as bad.

The Money Shop is a notorious American (I think?) high street loan dealer who charge obscene APR on quick-fix cash sums. They've recently talked to the press about it being a key time for them to offer their services to people. Really evil.

I don't go out in town much these days and the Belmot Street area very rarely but I still wander up and down it from time to time...I've been sitting here thinking what has changed dramatically and come to the conclusion fuck all.

Unless you are a big fan of tat for your house, in which case The Pier closing may have been the catalyst of doom of which you speak.

Belmot Street was always a good source of amusement from drunk scantily clad lasses and blokes in Ben Sherman shirts making twats of themselves with others of their kind.

Im not about things changing into other things

Im on about the clubs and bars not as good as they once were.

Like the wild boar.

You realise that Belmont St is host to about half the bars/clubs in Aberdeen, so you might as well go for the jugular and say that bars/clubs in Aberdeen are all pants.

Guest Bob Knob
There's also The Belmont (I think that's what it's called - the place opposite Drummonds down the stairs?)

The Belmont is not a bar. It's a holding pen for the Jeremy Kyle show.

I like It's Kitch for funny birthday cards.

I've avoided that area in general since I had a godawful sandwich from the sarnie shop next to One Up. Bilge. I've even stopped buying from the One Up 2nd hand section since the angry little guy downstairs tends to smash the cases about as he's putting the CD's in, and I get home to the middle bit all smashed to pieces and cracks all over the case.

I just hate going outside.

When I first started going out in Aberdeen in about 1998 most of the pubs on Belmont Street were pretty grotty, like Wodka Bar, Wild Boar, Lava, Triple Kirks, Ma Camerons etc and it was all very studenty. All of those pubs closed down for refurbishment within the space of a couple of years and they were a lot more swanky when they re-opened, and around the same time the Priory opened up, and Revolution, and Espionage round the corner and Belmont Street became a lot trendier. I liked it better when it was a shitehole.

Ah, but I'd say that you are are looking back with rose-tinted glasses. Back in 1998 you were a teenager going out, which is vastly different from yr elderly self nowadays. I think that 18 year olds are pretty much delighted with anywhere to go for a drink. I look back on going out to the Palace and Exodus back in the day, and apparently it was the best thing ever, but in fairness it is probably much the same as going to Korova and Exodus nowadays, except that I'm much older and my tolerance for students has decreased about a million times.
