silversurfer
No apology is needed, I perfectly understood the situation. I was sorry to have missed the show, although I did catch Son's brilliant version of 'King Bee' before I was asked to leave !Hope to be at your next booking. (As long as it's not at Musa when the kitchen is open !)
Chris
See that's why I was surprised they're putting on gigs when the kitchen's open. I could kind of see it working during the week when it's quiet, but it seems a strange thing to do on their busiest night.
Oedo 808
I thought it was awesome all round last night. Couldn't ask for better. BrewDog James was down for some munch too.
Bigsby
See that's why I was surprised they're putting on gigs when the kitchen's open. I could kind of see it working during the week when it's quiet, but it seems a strange thing to do on their busiest night. To be fair, it wasn't actually a "gig", it was a dinner service with live music. Musa made no attempt to promote it as a gig for punters who weren't eating. With hindsight I shouldn't have said anything about it on here, although I did check with them before hand and they said there are usually a few bar stools on the balcony where non-eating punters can listen to the music. Last night however the place was so rammed there were even folk eating on there. So I'll just chalk this one up to experience, we had a great time in any case, had the punters up dancing for the second Saturday in succession and even managed to fulfil a request that we had never played/rehearsed before (Happy Birthday!) Bigsby
For immediate releaseAberdeen's newest country band, the Malpaso Gang, proud heirs to the long tradition of outstanding country music rooted in the fertile forelands of the Grampian Highlands have claimed the title of... 'Best Indie Band' in the Aberdeen Fudge Music Awards. They credit their success to a profound love for professional wrestling set to a soundtrack of Buck Owens, and their legions of adoring fans. "We're so proud" said spokesperson Nina Eggens after downing her 8th shot of whiskey and shooting out all the bottles behind the bar, aiming from the hip. "It's all down to Hank Williams song 'Rambling Man", she said. It was the train whistle that apparently set off the fusilade, claiming the lives of the cheap liquor behind the bar. No survivors were reported. No news as yet about posting bail for the Gang's sharpshooting lead singer. That might need to wait while the band raises money to pay off the bar bill. The bar tab resulted from drinking following the brawl that erupted when, while claiming an unrelated award for a stranded steel guitarist, Matt Duncan made an insightful comment about a neighbouring city in an unfortunate moment of candor and honesty. Dave Haxton, off to fetch another pint, could not be reached for comment. All of which is appropriate, because as we all know, country music is all about true stories. And all this, we swear, is true.#### ENDS ###

Bigsby
Really enjoyed you guys from behind the bar. Not my preferred style but well played Cool finally meeting you too, Bigsby.Likewise of course!### FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ###The rising stars of Alt.Old.Country managed to get through another gig at the Aberdeen Moorings bar with livers and wallets intact after cutting a wide swath through a bar better known for Slayer and Motorhead. Performing a sublime mix of originals and long forgotten covers, the band demonstrated yet again why they are the reigning monarch of Scottish country music. That might be due to hard work, although we doubt it. Probably more a reflection of their profound distaste for the alt.karaoke that passes for country music in the Grampians, an abiding recklessness and a small tin pot with the title 'Best Indie Band' that they walked away with at the Fudge Music Awards. They are well on their way to their own pulp-fiction style music soundtrack in the life story of every truck driving fool in the UK.It's true that they stand for all that's good and right in the world- Lone Star Beer, Fender Guitars, and Chevy Trucks. The rest, as they say, is just details. The band, frankly, couldn't be bothered to comment.### END ###

Bigsby
### FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ###Aberdeen's favorite rebel-rousing country band, the Malpaso Gang, will return to the scene of an earlier crime with a return engagement at Cafe Musa this Friday (3rd June). Details, while sketchy at this moment are as follows. The Gang will storm into the bar, drink all the expensive beer and insult someone's mother while setting up too many guitars. After making space for a large pinafore and an oversized drum kit the music will start. And that, my friends, is what this is all about.Because the Malpaso Gang is all about the music. Old music, original music, the stuff that mattered. When a truck was a Chevy with V8, not some little hybrid rice burner. And the road was gravel, TV's were black and white, and Hankwas singing on the radio. George Jones, Kitty Wells, Patsy Cline. The real stuff. And, as kings of the block, the guns get left at home. It's the steel guitar that'll kill ya.So, be smarter than your cousins. Meet us there around 8, grab some food and a beer and settle in for the night. But bring dancing shoes- we warned you.Oh, and bring cigars. We're celebrating!### END ###
