Anti-Emo Riots Break Out Across Mexico

I'm sorry, what? So those Germans who stood against the Nazi regime in Germany were idiots? They should have just been quietly complicit in genocide?

I'm no lefty tub-thumper, but you're being absolutely ridiculous.

What germans who stood against the nazi regime? They were quietly complicit in genocide.

3 and a half pages before the first nazi reference, wahey.

Reductio ad Hitlerum - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

That sounds suspiciously like you're trying to back pedal from your absolutely daft statement that NO Germans resisted the Nazi regime.

Whilst we're being Google Warriors, I'll pick one site at random from the hundreds on German resistance to the Nazis:

Non-Jewish Resistance: Overview

A few thousand people, most of whom were executed, which helpfully illustrates my point that if you know full well what kind of society you live in and do something which you know will get you killed or beaten up, you're an idiot. It's called social darwinism. Note that it was the russians that defeated the nazi's, not dissenting germans.

Anyway, you can't compare a bunch of adolescent fashion victims to people who opposed the nazi regime knowing full well they would be killed. These emo kids aren't martyrs, they are idiots.

How about Satyagraha et all? Surely it would depend on the person getting fuck kicked out of them judging the something they do to be of more worth to them than the risk of getting beaten up for it.

Leaving aside the dubious connotations of "social Darwinism", that still misses the point. They were not "stupid". They were perhaps destined to fail, and I certainly did not suggest that they brought down the Third Reich, but they did exist. Fact.

The first point I was making (as I think you are well aware) is that you are basically saying that at any time or place the majority is always "right". I disagree.

The second point I was making was that you are simply wrong to claim that there was no domestic resistance to the Nazis. That has nothing to do with fringes in Mexico, and everything to do with your specific contention that there was no German opposition to the Nazis and the Holocaust. There was.

I'm not saying the majority is always right. I'm pointing out that if you deliberately go against the majority, that's a choice you've made, and wether the consequence is a beating or a custodial sentence and a criminal record, you must accept what happens because that is what being an adult in the real world is all about.

In my opinion, this is an example of societies and people in generals inability to accept change in the culture around them. It causes people to doubt/despise either themselves or those around them and leads to mindless acts of violence such as this, which is a vain attempt to try and enforce the 'correctness' of their own persona and reassure themselves of the validity of their self percieved stereotype's existence.

Soon it wont be 'emos' gettin beaten on it will be some other 'subculture', because really whats different between this and long haired skinny grungers gettin beaten up in the early nineties by 'manly' jocks who didnt like their hairstyles/trashy clothes/attitude?

In some retarded way its how humanity progresses. In a circle. So that we end up where we began.

No, people who don't realise the kind of world we live in make it a problem for themselves.

By that reasoning, the whole thing is self perpetuating. If you go against the majority then you're asking for it, is that what you're saying? Some people don't want to look and live the same way everyone else does, can you imagine how incredible dull the world would be if they did? Why the hell should everyone confirm just so they don't get beaten up?

It doesn't matter what you're wearing, if someone doesn't like the look of you, you're in for it regardless. I got hassle from a perma tanned blonde lass last night for no reason other than the fact that I have red bits in my hair and had dark eyeshadow on.

I agree with Cranial, it's not any different from preppys and grunge kids having it out or fuck, even mods and rockers. But for some reason the idea of the various 'alternative' groups turning on each other annoys me more than the idea of thick as shit pikeys starting on a goth. You'd think everyone would know better than that.

I've made my point countless times in this thread, go back and reread it if you don't get it by now.

This isn't about rights, freedoms or social ills, it's about spoilt, narcissistic, easily led kids with no personality of their own getting a wakeup call from the real world that their fucking parents should have beat into them years ago.
