BLACK SUN..FRIDAY NIGHT GUNFIGHT & tbc @ THE TUNNELS SUN 16TH SEPT

Recommended Posts

glasgow's BLACK SUN.....'supremely dark and claustrophobic/a post Swans and Khanate brew of slow, crushing riffs, noise abstractions and seething demons'.

new album HOUR OF THE WOLF on Maximum Volume Records recently scoring 8/10 in Terrorizer id say this is the best thing BS have done to date....mixed and mastered by James Plotkin (khante/KKnull/Khlyst) with additional mixing by Billy Anderson (Swans/Melvins/Neurosis)

BLACK SUN (UK)

"When the modern Soldier enters the Theatre of Battle he has Black Sun on his iPod. More specifically their new album 'Hour of the Wolf' on Max. Vol. Records. These guys have distilled the rage of combat with a keenly sharpened killing edge to create the red mist of victory. Pray for war."

FRIDAY NIGHT GUNFIGHT

for fans of any of this lot...The Dillinger Escape Plan...Cave In ....Botch..Converge.....The Red Chord...Keelhaul...Ion Dissonance....Cult of Luna....The End...Desalvo

hopefully this sunday at drummonds they will wet your appetite in the run up to this gig.....

a wee review...

Taking a nosebleed dive right into ferocious hardcore, Friday Night Gunfight clamber their way out with some thrash jazz tectonics and head bending riff physics and they even dare to go all post-rock wall-of-noise at the end, lending a tremendous psychedelia to the violence. Vocalist Guss's lungs scrape, roar, shout and tear their way over the ever changing battery, a fact brought out by some spot-on production. Maybe one day, if they're really lucky, they might even be Kerrang! darlings. - Ali Maloney - The Skinny

Aye. This is a good mix of a line up. Black Sun were amazing last time I saw them playing with Narcosis. If you like a bit of Swans, Corrupted, Grief etc then you should be down to see this.

I'll need to go and replace one of the posters in the Tunnels Sharon - the guitarist from Army Of Flying Robots was so impressed with the poster that he asked if he could have one!

Two weeks to go. Anybody who saw High on Fire in Glasgow the other day might have caught Black Sun in support.

I'm pretty sure you'll find them to your taste Jake.

What about you other Aberdeen metal people? I hope we'll see a fair few of you there.
