i dunno why daniel craig got such a hard time when he got the gig, he's always good value in things i've seen him in before such as munich and our friends in the north. i think some of the snobs had a problem with the fact he has blond hair!!!

anyway watched a film 2006 special on the film last night and its convinced me its going to be a worthy addition to the franchise but shall reserve proper judgement till i've seen it!!!

Yes, I'm starting to buy into the hype as well, but I've found in the past that it can often lead to disappointment.

I guess turning up to the official launch on a speedboat with a life jacket was a bad idea for Craig, but I would agree, he's been good in things like Munich and Layer Cake.

It's not going to be as good as the Woody Allen/David Niven/Peter Sellers effort, is it?

That's on telly on Saturday, so everyone will be able to decide.

I bet it puts some people off going to see the new one. ;)

Wow. Brilliant. Eva Green, yes; free running dude, yes; Daniel Craig, absolutely yes; poker, yes; fight scenes yes (etc). Thought it was really entertaining, nice and gritty. Not clean shaven like most other bonds, I mean the torture scene had me in virtual tears.

Yes. go and see it.

I thought it was fantastic, loved the opening chase (the end bit reminded me a bit of Arnold in Commando for some reason. I think Arnold should be Bond for one film.), Le Chiffre's face when he appeared to come back from the dead, Eva's waterproof make-up (that bitch! She seduced me and betrayed me, and I know she couldn't have done anything else and that she punished herself, but she broke my heart and nothing can make it better). I think he's proved himself to be an adequate Bond :) As usual, some people I spoke to afterwards said that they weren't sure, and that none of the new films are as good as the old ones, but I love them all

just back from seeing it, most excellent if you like the franchise it doesnt disappoint. i think daniel craig has the makings of a great bond. the stunts are wonderfully over the top, its a bit of a trek at two and a half hours but there's enough in the film to keep you interested. although there's less cheese and gadgets, it doesn't spoil it. a very modern looking bond film indeed! and the theme tune sounds a hell of a lot better when you hear it as part of the opening credits. and weeping blood as a deformacy on the villian - class!

daniel craig has signed up to do three films, the next one goes into production quite soon for a 2008 release, bring it on!

This film is fucking amazing. Daniel Craig shits over all bonds since Connery.

YES!

I loved it, there were loads of crap parts. The opening scenes were good but I really dont like the new theme, just sounds a bit bland and doesnt really have much kick, although the title sequence was amazing, but were ruined by the song. I loved the stripped down bond beginning enough to suspend my belief conceraning Judi Dench's M which fucks up the continuity of the series. I lked the realism of it, the lack of gadgets or overblown schemes for world domination. There is no Meglamaniac bad guy, Le Chiffre is interesting as he comes quite far down the criminal food chain, is a sadistic fucked up bad guy but hes also a fuckup and trying to cover his tracks rather than orchestrate a crazy diabolical scheme involving the moon's gravitational pull or something.

I thought Le Ciffres comment about elaborate tortures was a nice touch as this film managed to brush away a lot of crazy bond-cliche's and still make a decent Bond film.

As for Craig, he was good, he manages to portray the complex brooding Bond of the books with still the dry sense of humour of Connery's bond, rather than the moody fuck that was Dalton or the Roger Moore's smug glib-ridden clown.

Saw it yesterday. Excellent. The Boy Craig done good.

Whilst Bond movies are about as credible as Lord of the Rings, it was nice to see a touch of realism following the stairwell fight scene with the two Africans. After the fight, when Bond was having dinner with Vesper, his face and knuckles were all grazed.

Certainly a departure from the old Connery/Moore days where Bond would get into these ridiculous rough & tumble scraps, then straighten up his bow tie, light up a Monte Cristo and order a Martini - completey unscathed!

Like this new Bond, I do!

A fucking excellent film. Very refreshing indeed, as I was expecting the usual Bond clichés -

briefing after the opening sequence and then off to Q/R for the gadgets, then the plot begins. At the end, Bond is captured/goes to a big complex and blows everyone up and shags the girl.

But this one was a lot different, more action and story oriented, and Bond was more human rather than a superhero who couldn't be destroyed. The torture scene was great, the fights were intense, and losing the typical Bond conventions (including the ones above) were fantastic. Like Fraser said, the villains aren't blown out of proportion about plans for world domination or anything, and the casino scenes were really entertaining.

Daniel Craig is a fucking excellent Bond. I hope they start making Bond movies like this more.

Opening credits were brilliant, but the song was fucking shite.
