I'd put that down to your mass attendance of "sceney" gigs and lack of attendance at "music-lovers" gigs.

But of course' date=' scenester gigs are fun and light hearted (usually...) and not meant to be taken seriously, which is fun to me :p

But yeah, the only gig for 'music-lovers' that I've been to was completely and utterly dead despite the bands supposedly being right up their street. I keep meaning to try another one some day, but I've barely been to any gigs over the last three months :(

I find that with scenester gigs most people seem to bugger off before the band "they ahvent heard of before" plays.

Doesn't that always happen, regardless of who's putting on the gig or who's playing? I always found it a queer Aberdonian thing anyway. I can't stand Edinburgh or the crowds, but at least they always stay to watch bands they've never even heard of before.

Apparently the Aberdonian attitude (alleged apathy and scenesterness) exists else-where and we shouldn't accuse ourselves too much. Happens in all the other cities, its just that they are somewhat bigger and it is less noticeable. Heard this many times from promoters and bands from Dunedinglas and farther afield... All things considered it ain't too shabby up here. So I have been told. Hard to believe I know when you 'are' from up here.

Whatever is being experienced I would say is down to greater choice, eyeliner, hair wax black fingerless gloves and jaggedy songwriting.

(happy days, unless you are an emo person) ;)

i find most people a fucking nuisance whether they are behaving or not.i can offer no viable answers to this horrific problem because i am often the very same horrific problem.if you want silence at a gig/cinema/orgy etc then either carefully select your audience from quiet, appreciative folks or stay home and watch a dvd alone.sometimes people simply dont have any respect for others, and thats never going to change.

here is a story:

once in the cinema a guy 'shooshed' me for taking a pretty quiet slurp of juice during an 'important' part of a film (alien 3, when ripley has her encounter with the alien after charles dance gets minced).i leaned back over the seat and took his beanie hat, then went to the bathrooms and flushed it away.there is no point to this other than maybe a tenuous link to some sort of silly 'who is right/who is wrong' argument.

Ofcourse you're right ' date=' you took control of the situation and started a campaign that i was wanting to start for years GET RID OF THOSE FUCKING AWFUL BEANIE HATS !!!![/quote']

like i previously said, i am often part of the problem and i wear a beanie hat most of the time.had it been you behind me, i'd have flushed your head.

I'm surprised Twobackjoe has not yet posted about the nutjob that kept on dancing and making a nuisance of himself at the Staccato Set/Mother and the Addicts gig. He certainly put a lot of people off' date=' myself included.[/quote']

That guy was straight off the top shelf! My thinking is 'how did he get in and why was he left alone when he was clearly not a dancer? Harmless but...

We found him amusing from the stage and he good fodder for Ziggy! I'm sure if there had been any complaints he may have been gently escorted to a holding area for the big yellow bus... All occasioins like that should be dealt with by the staff and management at the earliest possible opportunity... People were laughing so it was maybe wrongly assumed he was great entertainment. If there is something not right then let the management know is my recommendation...

I will say that he wasn't annoying us whilst we were playing and kinda added to our laid back attitude to the gig. Funny old world huh...

I saw pearl Jam in Glasgow a couple years ago, and the guy behind me sang along, badly, to every word of every song for the first five songs, so much so he was drowning out Eddie Vedder.

I solved this problem by .............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. walking 20 yards so I was away from him.

It's not rocket science people. If you get stuck behind someone talking, move!

He was lucky that Mother and the Addicts were playing after, as it is accepted practice to throw oneself about to their enjoyably danceable set...

it's not so easy when you're only 4'11. i suppose in moshulu you can sit on the stairs and watch but i thought people got moved from there since it's kind of an obstruction.

I agree with the guy who wrote the article. Me and a few of my mates all paid 20 for our tickets for the recent Sigur Ros gig at the Carling Academy in Glasgow, and drove down from Dundee for it, only to be faced with a room full of people who wouldn't shut the fuck up the whole time. I almost understand that behaviour at a pub gig, but when you (and most of everyone around you!) have paid twenty quid to go and see a band you'd expect to be able to hear what was going on.
