  1. Cupids and Barney Rubbles existed at the same time. Barney Rubbles was downstairs and Cupids upstairs. Henry J Beans>Berlins>Henry J Beans> The Bassment Videoplex>Hoochie Coochie Club>Zuu>Moshulu - there may have been other names in there somewhere....
  2. I might be going out on a limb here but did he - a. Dump you; b. Kick you out of the band; c. a and b?
  3. The Cult at The Capitol circa the 'Love' album. The Jesus and Mary Chain at The Music Hall. Spear of Destiny at The Capitol circa 'World Service'. All because I was slightly too young to get to Aberdeen and back from Stonehaven.... Ones I wish I'd been at due to since becoming a fan of the bands are Fugazi and Clutch, both at The Lemon Tree I believe. Also wish I'd managed AC/DC at the AECC but I was offshore and couldn't get leave to go. Only wanted in for the day and would have went back out, erses.
  4. Does this mean that it's now bad form to listen to 'Hello' by Oasis or 'Doctorin' The Tardis' by The Timelords, i.e. The KLF and so rendering them guilty by association and also on the banned list?
  5. Oilcareers - The Recruitment site for the Worldwide Oil and Gas Industry
  6. My prediction - this will be utter shit and kind of embarrassing to watch due to the obvious effects of time on the performers. Cat was quite good in Blade 2 could he not get any more movie parts? Alan you are spot on about the filming, it's a strange thing that British sitcoms have that rather recognisable 'bright' lighting while American programmes have the more soft-focus touch.
  7. Yeah all those kicks and headers probably knocked it out of him a bit.
  8. But while Sony may have been accomodating to their whims whilst still serving their time, they could be nervous about a potentially uncommercial venture that will only appeal to the more hardcore fanbase, a more commercial outing could be a nice last money spinner for Sony....time will tell.
  9. I have recently read - 'Child of God' by Cormac MacCarthy, 'Things The Grandchildren Should Know' by Mark Everett, 'No-One Belongs Here More Than You' by Miranda July. Now reading 'King Solomon's Mines' by H.Rider Haggard. These green 2 quid Penguin books from Waterstones are great.
  10. Things like this just make the Brass Eye Paedophile-disguised-as-a-school episode all the more relevant and amusing.
  11. You should put Rob through some intensive Proclaimer album listening as training.
  12. And that is your right sir. I bought it as a present for my other half, I haven't listened to the whole thing but from what I've heard it didn't make me want to listen again. I dare say my other half will want the new one and i'll probably give it a go, i'm still not convinced as to why after all these years they have now decided to resurrect Richey lyrics and get Albini in on the act but hey ho, let's see how it pans out. The question is, does anyone think that their label will let it out as Albini intended....
  13. Christ, they were shit then and i'll bet they are still shit now. I thought they had fucked off for good.
  14. You did however state that it was their most critically acclaimed album in years which is what I referred to, I never said you had declared it 'a work of genius'
  15. Anyone who thinks they are somehow superior to others because of the fact they work in an independent coffee shop/record shop/whatever is a seriously laughable cunt.
  16. Why not do it just after he disappeared then? Why do you 'feel sorry' for those who don't enjoy them? There's multitudes of bands out there making better music than them these days. They've hardly been the major force in modern music have they? You have the most non-balanced viewpoint since Swinging Ryan - speaking of whom - just because their last album received more critical acclaim than the previous ones doesn't make it a work of genius, it could be seen as marginally less shit than the other ones.

    The Office

Some good ones on that list, but 'The Brittas Empire'? A wind-up inclusion surely?
  18. Donkey Punch - totally unoriginal plot-wise and not that great to be honest. Sex scene verging on porn. The Pit and the Pendulum - 60's Vincent Price movie so a bit dated but still quite good. Be Kind Rewind - Undecided, it was OK but nothing special. I was actually a bit tired when I watched it and dozed off towards the end, need to revisit that bit.
  19. I quite liked the book and to be honest Renton is a more minor character in it so they could probably manage it without Ewan MacGregor, he isn't the be all and end all.

    The Office

The Office and Extras are still extremely good, although I thought the Xmas Extras was disappointing (although I recently rewatched it and it was better that time round, think my expectations were a bit high). For some reason I dislike seeing Ricky Gervais in movies, he just seems out of place. I've been recently listening to some of the podcasts again, they are all about Karl Pilkington though.
  21. If this review appeared in a proper music magazine it would be amazing. Why did you get escorted out?
  22. 'The Shining' is still the only horror that truly creeps me out. Witchfinder General for more Vincent Price goodness and also the 'Dr Phibes Rides Again' sequel is wiorth checking out. I just got 'Masque Of Red Death' and 'The Pit and The Pendulum' for 2.99 each on Play, yet to be watched though. 'Cannibal Holocaust' is disgusting in many ways but certainly sticks in the mind. Dario Argento's 'Suspiria' is probably his best but 'Deep Red' is also worth a look as is 'Opera' and 'Tenebrae'. Find uncut versions though. 'Santa Sangre' is an insane kinda film, if you like more surreal type stuff check it out. I found 'Wolf Creek' more rewarding on repeat viewing. 'Haute Tension/Switchblade Romance' is ace also.
  23. Why is 15 years later 'the right time' to release an album using old Edwards lyrics? The whole thing smacks of a last ditch attempt to regain some kind of credibility. It all seems a bit desperate.
  24. Very, very, very good tune. I like. I must get along to see you play, just hasn't been convenient yet....
