  1. Maybe he is off travelling to firm-up his interest in Bhutanese Buddhism: Then again, maybe not?
  2. Has anyone been sad enough to check-out Google's HQ in Mountain View yet? googleplex - Google Maps The last link was iffy - Drag thye streetview mannie to 1644 Charleston road to see why! Errrm.... :O
  3. Those plates are a family heirloom, well over a century old. Got a lemon coconut slice too!
  4. Reported now: http://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/Article.aspx/1137822 However, the EE have stuck it at the very bottom of an article that suggests your kids will get free golf tuition from them instead. Sheesh!
  5. Is that not a matter for the urgent attention of one of the regulatory/standards bodies? Its not on the website yet but I see BBC Aberdeen were reporting that the develpers have apparently dropped their interest in the second pacel of land FTM. Is this good or bad?
  6. I see elsewhere that a book has started on the date of her rising again: And a mere 26 months ago? o_O
  7. Reporting something very similar on the BBC just now.
  8. I have absolutely no doubt that locals are highly concerned and they are absolutely right to air the issue for wider consideration. Its just the lack of unbiased info so those of us not directly connected with the project/area can make our own minds-up that gets me.
  9. Don't worry, I will not be taking it as gospel and I'll be looking out for confirmation one way or the other, some other way.
  10. This is interesting: Aberdeen golf plan hits the rough - Evening Express Hmm, so they want another couple of hundred acres of dubiously specified, possible "development land" in addition to the tract they have already planned for, which even then is not yet subject to hard and fast agreements.
  11. Yes, especially as it looks like NCP have sold-off or otherwise outsourced their private parking operations to one or other of the cowboys and concentrated their main operations on public contract work. Its like dealing with two different firms now.
  12. I too have a number of interesting stories from both Hazlehead and t'other place. Anyway, I don't really see cage fighting kids as a whole lot worse than what used to happen when some teachers here would air their dislike/displeasure for certain kids in front of other kids who would usually oblige by kicking-shit out of them on the school's behalf once they were off the property. Not like I don't have a few outstanding complaints about that one with the council, oh no!
  13. Yes - fully agree. There are some utterly selfish and even dangerous fuckwits out there whose parking fully deserves everything they get. I do wonder - The majority of times I've challenged a ticket with a letter asking if the patroler had the right car in mind, or how they managed to miss the obviously displayed ticket, suggests all too many of them are not doing certain basic aspects of the job? Give and take works both ways TBH but seems to have gone out of the window with the implementation of the post-91 regs, where income seems to be the important thing now. I would also cite the differences in rates of appeal upholding between areas regulated under the 1985 act, which has a lot of common sense and the 1991 act, which are about 25% as opposed rouund 60% (in Aberdeen).
  14. The signs are secondary - The lines and any applicable orders come first. Surprising how many are totally non-compliant round here.
  15. The Globe, or Fusion across the road if you are feeling flush.
  16. Just that my then newly ex-partner was suffering some psych problems and was well into a breakdown that manifested itself in some very difficult and self destructive behaviour. I was invited for a meal there to try and patch things-up again. It did not go well..
  17. Don't want to talk about it any more!
  18. Miserable place, with some highly unpleasant memories for me. Even today, I still shudder whenever I have to walk past it. Don't give a shit about its decor and never again would be too soon to actually think about going back-in. Food was nae up to much either.
  19. Try something else maybe? There are nicer smellies than that stuff. Cedar or normal Sandalwood for example. Despite being mainly Sandalwood, Nag Champa itself makes me feel ill. There must be something else in there? Think I may have seen it in Nova, or maybe the shop across the road from it, but that might have just been around Christmas? Also, Downstairs in Michies the chemist used to have a wide variety of household smellies, so it might be worth looking in there?
  20. Very much looking forward to this - It will be a busy weekend again!
  21. Yup, middle/latter third of last year would be my guess - Again, construction work at the end of my road gave it away. I see they have updated the Aberdeen aerial photos as well - For the last couple of years, I have had a very impressive looking washing on the line in my garden, which is gone now.
  22. Yes, I can fully agree - We do need something. However, what concerns me is that this something often seems to require that we give-up public property/space or amenity as opposed to using the not insignificant amount of land already zoned for development or currently underperforming in an existing economic role. Which may or may not include Hazlehead of course. Time and plans will probably make things clearer.
  23. Not all land has to be profitable of course. Especially at Hazlehead, where they have been held for us all as a public park since what, around 1920? I don't know if income should be a primary consideration there? The feuing of the Freedom Lands has long been thought of as one of Aberdeen's biggest ever financial blunders and taking this small segment back into public ownership might be viewed as one small step in righting a historic wrong. Should they be thinking about handing it back into private control again quite so soon? Especially as the issue of public vs private space is hardly uncontentious to begin with.
