  1. I grew up in Elgin, never heard of that place though....interesting. What about the place on South St that's now the bingo, beside the Lido? Was that ever a venue?
  2. I got tickets through the post on Friday for the Tuesday Mark Radcliffe show, nothing for the Wednesday show I booked for as well though.
  3. Idlewild - Forres Loft Super Furries - Barrowlands Malcolm Middleton - Tunnels Pixies - Meadowbank King Biscuit Time - Tunnels Weezer - Corn Exchange
  4. I think if the hurricanes continue on the Gulf area for the next three weeks, I might just be doing that.
  5. Quick review of last night HG#1 - First time seeing them, could see a Beta Band influence there, liked the group dynamic, would go see again. Kathryn Sawyers - I'd like to see her in a venue where she could be properly heard. Great voice from what I could pick up. Pip Dylan - Fantastic, could tell he was getting frustrated with the crowd noise though as confirmed when I spoke to him after the gig. Hope that doesn't put him off playing here in the future. [listen up peeps] KBT - As I expected. Ace. New single sounded great and a couple of old faves to keep the Beta crowd happy. All in all, a great line-up. Just wish those cants at the bar would lower the volume a bit.
  6. confident of an appearance, this one is hrrrmmmm (far's the yoda smilie?)
  7. I'll take that as a no then. Here's Steve's new vid. www.poptones.co.uk/kbt
  8. Any truth in the rumours that Pip Dylan is supporting as well?
  9. To see the frontman of one of Scotland's finest ever bands? And two highly regarded Aberdeen acts? (Both of whom I've yet to see and highly looking forward to) And, I'm not sure if this is relevant but Pip Dylan has been playing all KBT dates so far and is pecilled in on the Fence site to be playing Tunnels as well. (Can anyone here confirm?) All for just 6 quid. Bargain.
  10. Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot Neil Young - After The Goldrush Death Cab For Cutie - Plans
  11. If they still count as local bands... Le Reno Amps Maple
  12. Fell in love with them after seeing them support Jane's Addiction a couple of years back. Great band, loved the album, looking forward to hearing some new stuff.
  13. More co-operation from bands? If soundian's gig-guide post is anything to go by, it seems a lot of bands in Aberdeen think they're above this kind of promotion? (laziness or attitude?) Seems to me like Northsound are basically inviting bands to sign up to this, potentially getting pretty great publicity out to a larger / different audience. Doesn't seem like a bad deal to me. I think this type of show has been desperately missed and to start criticising before it's even found it's feet is pathetic. (obviously not aimed at the poster I quoted)
  14. I think if you got on the day you'll pretty much be guaranteed thosed tickets unless the whole gig falls through. Otherwise, why would they say the event is 'sold out'? If they were intent on doing some sort of lottery they would have kept the phone availability on for a lot longer than they did, and bank a few bucks in the process.
  15. How much of the city do you need? I always thought the view from where Northsound is, was quite cool. Y'know, coming down the hill.
  16. Finally! Got two each for both Mark Radcliffe shows at Moshulu. The boy said Moby, Texas and Jools Holland are all gone.
  17. 57 ye radge. Tak yer fool mooth elsewhere.
  18. Maybe, just maybe, it's actually aimed at kids. Doesn't make it laughable. I actually think it's quite good that they do stuff like this. It's just not for me.
  19. Thanks for filling it in. I appreciate it may seem a weird cut-off. This is in no way meant to cause offence to older folk. (Jeez, I'm only 5 years away from that age myself) The rationale is basically that it fits in with national charitable giving statistics. Nothing else. Thanks again.
