definitely go and find out for yourself which basses suit you best as you will have your own preferences on neck width, string spacing etc... Ibanez's are nice and easy to play generally, especially the Soundgear series as they have one of the thinnest necks out there.. I've personally never found a better bass than a Warwick Corvette Jazzman

I had the exact same problem with my bass, I opted for filling the screw-hole with wood glue, then stuffing as many cocktail sticks as was physically possible into it, wiped off any excess glue. left it overnight to dry, then re-drilled the hole, problem sorted.

I have this as a recurring problem, so every month or so I take the strings off my bass, check the saddles for burrs and file them down appropriately, takes a while but I've only got one bass.... apparently rubbing a pencil over the saddles can reduce any friction as well.

yeh but basses with natural finishes can look amazing... hopefully it works out for you

i'm curious, are you planning on having it re-painted after its been stripped down? or putting a finish (tung oil etc) to bring out the natural finish ?
